Alternatively if you want to chill with a beer on the river bank and try for some bass, or watch the eastern water dragons play in the sun and water, then that’s a great way to unwind, or soak up the sun rays as it drops below the horizon on the crystal hill or rolling flood plains. A personal favourite of a campfire and a few drinks with the stars is a great way to unwind when you have so much space and privacy. The sites are located next to our rental lodge where we sometimes do retreats, or holiday let it as well. The privacy is wonderful if that's what you are looking for. A walk each morning from one end of the farm where you will stay to the other and back is a leisurely 2kms so maybe that is your morning start, but walk the lanes and check the fences and cows while you're at it please 🙂, ticks a job for us while your relaxing. Want to learn about the history of the area? Well a session with us will teach you everything didn't know about the Dargo High Plains, the mountain cattlemen of the high country and much more. Take advantage of your time to enjoy the history of the area and the wonderful past times enjoyed. What is available off farm? Number one, the pub with great counter meals is across the river, 5kms away. Lindenow Farmers Hotel is iconic in its design and history, the reputed Lindenow Long Paddock Cafe is also a few hundred metres from the pub, and the Post Office and Store have all your essentials. Need a few more things? Bairnsdale is 24kms away from the farm and offers all you need. Lakes Entrance is about 40 mins for a day out on the beach. Paynesville around 30 mins. If you want to venture up into the mountains then why not go through Dargo just 45 mins and up onto Mt Hotham (Summer only) via the Dargo High Plains. It’s a great track and on occasions I take people up for a guided tour and secret camp spots on my yearly run up there for my own relax time. East Gippsland in general is a wonderful region to stop and relax during all seasons but especially summer with the water activities available, the camping in the high country, and the markets that abound the area. Briagolong Bush Getaways is 40 acres of peaceful bush land. Many, many moons ago the property use to be a tobacco farm. The original house use to be at the top camp site but was burnt down in the 1960's. A small cottage was then built and lived in for the next 10 years, while the original owner made mud bricks by hand and built the house, that is currently our home. All built by hand more than 42 years ago! Here, you have several fantastic camp areas to choose from, some with access to amenities, some for self-contained campers. We've also recently started offering the mudbrick house for rent! We had a relaxing 5 nights camping at Coopers Corner (fruit trees). This was our second trip here and will be coming back again. It’s quiet and peaceful here, loved the sound of the river and the birdsongs. All the camping sites are well kept with fire pits and most of them have river access. There are also hiking trials in the hill opposite the farm which was handy.

The campsites are scattered across lovely gently rolling fields and all have a fire pit and a view (either down the valley or across the dam). We had Site 2 looking over the dam which was great and must be stunning in summer and if the dam is full. Access is easy and well sign posted.

We were fine but the people next door had a new group camp that close that had to move their swag . Unfortunately some people have no respect or regard for personal space ! Can imagine would be crazy busy at Christmas/January holidays.

Such a beautiful site with gorgeous views of the mountains and valleys. Site 4 is conveniently located to the toilet and the toilet was lovely and clean. We only stayed a night but would love to come back another time for a longer stay. We got onto the site easily with our AWD and trailer. Thank you Virginia for being such a great host.

Fruit Trees was a great spot at the Hazelnut Nut Farm - well maintained, close to the creek, large grassy area. Access was a little tricky due to quite a bit of rain - especially towing a caravan. We had a campfire every night - wood is available for purchase onsite 15kg bag for $22 but don’t buy it as an added extra on the Hipcamps site - they charged a $9 service fee! Which really pissed me off. Otherwise, a lovely place to spend a couple of days.

What a great place! So clean, plenty of space for the 9 of us and privacy between camp-sites. The hut is perfect for extra room if needed to prepare food, has a large picnic table to sit & eat or shelter from the rain. With the forest across the road and Port Welshpool a quick bike or car ride away, this camp really has everything. From riding along tracks to walking the beach or long pier, very relaxing for a short or long stay. Hosts are easy to communicate with and give great directions...camp-site is extremely easy to get to with a caravan or trailer. Thanks so much Steff & Dylan, we all appreciated the stay in your little slice of heaven 🤗
