Ken’s place was an excellent retreat for a few days. The firepit was awesome and Ken even supplied us with some firewood that we could chop up! The property was easy to find and easy to get to from Melbourne. We will definitely be back!

2 nights at Strath Creek Station

Our second stay at Strath Creek Station was just lovely, nestled by the creek, we were surrounded by birdlife, bushland and views of the hills. Glen and Kim are the perfect hosts, giving us privacy and immaculate facilities, yet are there in a flash if needed. Each of their thoughtfully set out sites have a fire drum, grey water collection container and toilet facilities. All sites are set apart so that you do feel like the only campers there. Strath Creek Station has fast become a favourite for our family.

Weekend Trip to Private Alpine Forest Paradise

Our family of 5 just had the most peaceful and beautiful 2nd nights here. The fireplace was awesome. The space was huge and could definitely cater for large groups. The whole property was so kid friendly and the trampolines were a winner. Really great communication from Ken. Firewood was left for us to use. We were blessed with perfect weather. We will definitely be back 😁

Beautiful, private spot with creek access and lots of space for our three families and dog. We loved the open space too, room to run around and for stargazing. We really appreciated the clean, well equipped portaloo and the fireplace. Kim and Glen were really friendly and welcoming. Love their attention to maintaining the native environment. We had such a relaxing time and the kids had a ball.

It was a delightful experience. My son loved to run around the little hill and play at the playground. Feeding sheep was an extra fun for him. The owner Tamara was responsive and sweet as well. I would love to come back here with our dog and some sandpit toys next time.

As we took a dog camping for the first time, we loved that it was fenced. Even though we ensured we always had eyes on him, for wildlife safety, it gave us confidence that we knew he was secure. We also LOVED the creek next to camp as the dog loves to swim. Michael was very accommodating, and easy to connect with. Having the bathroom a short stroll away, which was clean, was also a bonus. A thoroughly lovely evening in an amazing location.

We had a fantastic time at Tamara's property. She was super friendly and helpful, without getting in the way. We did a long weekend of two families with two kids and two dogs - everyone had a wonderful time. The property had plenty of room and a clean composting toilet. The toddlers absolutely loved feeding the sheep and using the play equipment. It was also close to some nice walks and a short drive into town, markets etc. Both sites slope a bit but we could find flat enough ground. I think site 1 looked a bit flatter and used a shipping container as a wind breaker. We would happily stay again!

There are the untouched wetlands, TiTree walks and abundant Wallabies, Cape Barren geese, Purple Hens, Pelicans and Bandicoots The chicory kiln at the entrance is known as the “Bern Denham kiln”. Bern Denham was one of the three original entrepreneurs in the 1920s who were the first to take tourists by torchlight to see the little penguins’ nightly arrival on the beach. Not to mention he was an influential contributor in getting the Phillip Island racetrack built and up and running. Please Note: Our property and all sites do not have any external power, water or toilet facilities available for campers so you will need to be completely self – contained in a caravan, campervan or roof top tent set up. Castella River Farm is an 8 acre property with many natural features including Mountain Ash trees and bushland near the camp sites. The Yea river runs behind the property and camping areas. Locally we are close to all the Yarra Valley and Kinglake Ranges have to offer from wineries to the National Parks for hiking. We are 10 minutes from Kinglake township and 15 mins to Yarra Glen, which means a quick trip if you need supplies. The highway is close by which makes it handy to get out and about. Wildlife we have seen on the property includes Wallabies, Echidna, and an abundance of bird life. Laugh with the Kookaburras at sunset. Dogs are welcome however due to wildlife and the bush location, we ask that you please keep them on a lead at all times. If you are planning on bringing a dog with you, please let us know in advance. We also have horses (separate from the campsite) that campers can feed a carrot if they wish! Water is available from our stables water tank. It is Tank water so not crystal clear but think of it as euculyptus tea! NB: **We do have neighbours and the highway near by so there will be some noise . Would suit campers who want to kick the footy, wade in the river and maybe go 4wding or out and about fishing. Ok to play your own music near the camp fire as you are far enough away down the back paddock! **Not suited to those wanting to be in the middle of nowhere

Explore all the Yarra Ranges has to offer including a short walk to Shiprock Falls. Grab a coffee or pizza in nearby Gembrook and checkout some farm produce from your hosts before you leave. We have added a composting toilet, a drinking water tank and a bush pole shelter with cold water kitchen sink, phone charger ports, lights and hot water to a private shower and a picnic table with seats under cover. We have an adjacent fire pit area with tree log seating. You can order firewood from us too and a Coleman gas cooker with gas bottle (see extras). Most of the materials are repurposed from another property or scavenged from our forest. We hope to see you soon.

Lake Eildon is also 30 minutes away and a great venue for fishing, swimming and boating. The Acheron, Rubicon and Goulburn rivers are close by and suitable for fishing and kayaking. Mountain bike riders can also try the tracks at Buxton or Eildon. There are many hiking/walking options including the historical Rubicon Valley just 20 minutes away. It is not uncommon to see an echidna, a variety of stunning birdlife, and on dusk, maybe a wombat family. As we only take one booking at a time you will enjoy exclusive use of this peaceful space. A maximum of 4 vans on River block and 2 on adjoining paddock, in one group. Our river block can hold up to 4 caravans (under 10 metres) and a couple of tents in one group (one booking). In addition, the upper adjoining block can accommodate 2 caravans. This is a single group occupancy site so you can enjoy the privacy of your group. If you wish to hook into our powered site, please add $10 per night, per van. All campers will also have access to our Casa Cucina gorgeous eclectic, quirky community space to sit in out of the weather. Please note: This is not an accommodation space. Lerderderg Lookout

91 Gordons Bridge Road was once part of a pine plantation that had been planted in the late 60's and harvested just prior to the Black Saturday fires. Across the road from the Kinglake National Park, it is surrounded by protected flora and fauna. Victoria's Pink heath, wattles and tea tree provide a pleasant backdrop in season. It is not an uncommon site to see an echidna or two on the property, with black wallabies, kangaroos and wombats often seen grazing on pasture in the evening. The mud turrets are the home of endangered land yabbies and Lyrebirds have been seen in the area. Feral deer have come to inhabit nearby properties and sometimes wonder down the track. Birds watchers will enjoy a variety of bird life that inhabit the area including eagle hawks, fairy wrens, kookaburras, rosellas, parrots and yellow tailed black cockatoos when in season. The area is a popular spot for hikers with the start of the Mountain Creek trail only a few kms down Gordons Bridge Road and serious cyclists train regularly, on Mount Slide, especially on the weekend. For the serious wine lover the property is within 15km of the Yarra Valley Wine Growing area with many wineries offering tastings.

The Fern Glade

Nestled right beside the Murrundini River, all 3 campsites are beside the river, and well spaced apart for privacy and peace. Campsite 2 (site two) is shady, surrounded by tall swamp gums, black wood wattles and tree ferns. This spot is at its best from late spring through to autumn . Site One is a large flat area beside the river that is good all year round. It has fencing and gates, perfect to let dogs run free without going too far. Site 3 (Craig's flat), is a large open campsite, able to take more camper-vans/ tents with plenty of space. All sites have fire places and gas BBQ's (byo gas bottle) And there are plenty of fish for those that want to try their luck. The original home stead (built in 1876) burnt down in the 2009 black Saturday fires. There still remains many 150+ year old elms and other European trees near the toilet block, which are delightful in autumn. We have some fantastic views from the hill up and down the Murundindi Valley, especially at sunset. We're located only a few short km's from Wilhelmina Falls and Murundindi Scenic Reserve, you get the best part of the river, without the crowds. We are a short drive from Melbourne, and easy access to the townships of Yea and Yarra Glen for supplies if you need them. Amazing, abundant and rare bird life to enjoy and photograph. (see guests photos). With no light pollution this is the ideal spot for star gazing.

( Aug - Jan) Backing onto the national park and walking tracks. Jehoshaphat Gully, Shelley Harris Track, Mt Jerusalem Track. Walking distance to Kinglake historic walk, Cookson Hill Track, Mt Everard Track, Bollygum Park. Visit Mason Falls Waterfall, 12-minute drive to Kinglake West. We have 2 dogs, 6 pet sheep and 4 lambs, 2 blue tongue lizards The farming area is completely fenced in, this is to keep the deer out, but you can venture out onto the property bush land with the correct map and navigation equipment. Our walk the neighboring farm (105 acres) Eagles, cockatoos, black cockatoos, kookaburras, magpies, rosellas, king parrots, Gang-gang cockatoo, honey eaters can be spotted most days and lyrebirds if you’re keen to go looking. Small playground with swings, slide, monkey bars and sandpit. Taxi service - The Graceful-Goat to get you around to the local eats and wineries. The Kinglake market is on the 4th Sunday of each month 10-2pm except December which is the Sunday before Christmas - twilight 2-7pm No market in January. Seven Hills Tallarook

Our property, "Seven Hills Tallarook", sits high above Tallarook with deep valleys and high peaks, just over one hour North of Melbourne's CBD. The property is 600 acres of thick Victorian bush and farmed paddocks. We have a wide range of hobby farm animals - pigs, sheep, alpacas, chickens, ponies, a donkey, along with commercial heard of South African Boer Goats. As night falls, the wildlife come out to play - kangaroos, rabbits, deer and wallabies. Internally, we have in excess of 10 kilometers of roads within the property, the majority being 2WD accessible (weather conditions apply). There are parts of the property which are only 4WD accessible. Our campsites are placed to allow you to be as isolated as possible - away from other campers (you may see others as you drive past, or they drive past you). At some of our bush sites, you will be able to see other campers, but they are not close by. Additionally, we have now entered our Fire Danger Period for the 2024/2025 Summer Season. We have not toggled the Fire Ban on as we do still allow campfires, however campers MUST adhere to CFA guidelines at all times. On days of Total Fire Ban (TFB), no fires, including gas stoves can be lit outdoors. The home is unoccupied, so you will have the sprawling bush site to yourself. Sit under the majestic canopy of stars in the evening and enjoy the warmth of the rustic bluestone campfire as you relax and unwind. There is nothing better than enjoying the ambience of an open campfire in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but a stunning night sky above your head! There is plenty of tank water which you can responsibly help yourself to. There is access to a toilet (no shower). The campsite has a picnic table for meals. Whilst it takes approx 10 mins of driving on dirt tracks to get to it, once on the property, surrounded by tall eucalypts, the sound of the birds, the absence of any humans, and the refreshing mountain air, totally zens you out, and you feel like you are miles away from the hustle and in your own little world! Please bring your own food, drinks and camping essentials. Check the CFA website for up-to-date fire safety information, and to ensure there are no fire bans prior to lighting fire in campfire or charcoal bbq's. Plenty of firewood available on site. A mini bush kitchen is set up with pots and pans for little budding chefs to cook up a mud pie or wombat stew. Hours of entertainment and exploring for kids, and so much opportunity for parents to relax, unwind and soak in this mountain paradise getaway in the middle of the forest. Another 800 mtrs from our front gates are the Warragal Rocks, which is a excellent walk and view from atop the Mountain. We have one flushing toilet on site, plenty of firewood, a large bluestone fire pit area, and some charcoal BBQs that can be used for cooking on. Water is rainwater via tanks. Would be best to bring your own drinking water.
