It was an overgrown mess at the time, covered in broken bricks and beer cans. I've tried to keep the bush aspect whilst creating a park-like surround with plenty of grassy space. I have big plans for this land and hope to build a steam museum in another area over the creek. Excitingly, I will also be establishing a blacksmiths forge in that area, which was moved piece by piece from an historic farm at Avoca. Chris is an engineer, antique restorer and artisan working from home.

The Korweingy Recreation Reserve is a wonderful country hall and oval. It is 12 minutes from Daylesford and in the heart of the Wombat State Forest. It has a huge hall, kitchen, toilets and showers, and a huge oval. It even has a little lounge area.
The oval is the same dimensions AS THE MCG! The site can accommodate up to 30 campers, and you'll have full use of the hall and all facilities. An amazing place for large groups to hold events, and gatherings and only an hour from Melbourne.
Enjoy all the area has to offer, and come back to your own paradise in the bush. Wake up to roos on the oval and enjoy a barbie with your group.

There are no facilities, its just you and the land (bliss!) so ensure you have everything you need with you, and take all your waste when you leave.
If you fancy fresh fish for dinner, just down the road is Tuki Trout Farm, or nearby Cairn Curran Reservoir and Tullaroop Reservoir are great for fishing. The tourist villages of Newstead, Clunes and Maldon are all a short drive away, and Daylesford is just 35km drive.

The camping area is easily accessed from maintained roads, where guests can drive in and park on the spacious lower paddock (no reversing or 3-point-turns necessary).
As this beautiful, secluded location is off-grid, guests will need to be Self Contained (BYO toilet/shower) and Leave No Trace.
If you would like to enjoy our property all to yourself, simply book two of the campsites, and send us a message and we will happily reserve the 3rd campsite for your group free of charge. We are happy to consider additional guests and up to 1 extra vehicle per campsite (camping with your friends, their kids and yours is more fun!) however, ensure to contact the Host to request and arrange this at the time of booking.
We expect our guests to be quiet and respectful to neighbouring farming families/properties. Parties and large groups are strictly not permitted. Please take everything with you and leave the site as you found it. Extra charges will apply for any rubbish, food scraps etc left on site.
Amenities: ‘Long Drop’ toilets, BBQs and picnic tables are available a short walk away at the Anakie Gorge Picnic grounds. When visiting the Anakie Gorge Walk/Picnic Grounds (Brisbane Ranges National Park) please observe and abide by the rules of Parks Victoria.
Due to our immediate proximity to farms and the Brisbane Ranges National Park the following are strictly NOT permitted: dogs, cats, pets, drones. Strictly NO fires, NO firearms, NO hunting permitted.

Total Fire Ban Days: On total fire ban days strictly NO flames or sparks, no exceptions.
For the safety of our guests, bookings falling on Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating days will be cancelled and campers will be reimbursed.
Severe Weather and Bushfire: Please make yourself aware of bushfire or other severe weather warnings (e.g. ABC Emergency or Emergency Victoria) for UP-TO-DATE information, especially during the fire danger period.
Safety and Hazards: You are responsible for your own safety and the safety of those in your care. Hazards to be aware of: snakes, uneven ground, trees or loose/falling limbs (it is your responsibility to set up your camp in an area you deem free of hazards).
Flash flooding of Stony Creek (this is rare, however, please observe weather warnings at the time of camping). Please make yourself aware of bushfire or other severe weather warnings (e.g. ABC Emergency or Emergency Victoria) for UP-TO-DATE information, especially during the fire danger period. On Total Fire Ban days strictly NO flames or sparks, no exceptions.
Other things to be aware of: No mobile phone reception. You might achieve some mobile phone reception if you head back up Gorge Road to Staughton Vale Road, though this is dependent on your mobile phone provider and cannot be guaranteed.
Please check, temporary closures to the Anakie Gorge and/or the Brisbane Ranges and trail access requirements. Before commencing on bush walks, check local weather and bushfire advice for planned burns and bushfire warnings and let someone know before you go. Plan ahead and hike safely.

The hut has an inside wood heater and verandas this hut makes a cosy stay away. A 40 acre bush block with a Trust for Nature Covenant. This box-ironbark woodland block has 2 dams and plenty of wildlife, a great place for bird watching. A self guided nature walk on the property provides you with an introduction to the local ecosystem. There is also a bird list for the property along with photos and descriptions of some of these birds. There is a makeshift bird hide and binoculars that you can borrow.
The hut has a double bed (bedding provided), undercover of the veranda is a gas stove with two burners and a grill, outside a long drop toilet, water tank (not drinkable) but drinkable water will be provided. The hut is close to one of the dams. Only one booking at a time so you won’t be sharing camping site with anyone. Owners live on the property but out of view and ear shot. A picnic set, kettle, camp stove and saucepans available for use. Solar lights inside, internal wood heater outside fire pit. An outdoor camp shower and a composting toilet is located near hut.
Basic amount of wood provided for internal heater and cost $10 milk crate of wood for external fire pit, a crate should last a couple of hours.
A guided 90 minute star gazing experience using 500mm diameter telescope is offered for $50/session to guests of the antechinus hut. Depending on the time of year you will see galaxies, nebulae, star clusters and planets. This is only offered when conditions allow, clear skies and minimal moon. Note this activity involves use of step ladder due to size of telescope.
There is also solar astronomy, view viewing the sun through hydrogen alpha telescope. $30 for 30 minutes.
There are great bike rides off and on road, close to Cairn Curran (15km) for fishing and kayaking, also plenty of bushwalks and bird watching sites nearby. Newstead 5km away whilst Daylesford, Maldon and Castlemaine are about 25km away.

The Korweingy Recreation Reserve is a wonderful country hall and oval. It is 12 minutes from Daylesford and in the heart of the Wombat State Forest. It has a huge hall, kitchen, toilets and showers, and a huge oval. It even has a little lounge area.
The oval is the same dimensions AS THE MCG! The site can accommodate up to 30 campers, and you'll have full use of the hall and all facilities. An amazing place for large groups to hold events, and gatherings and only an hour from Melbourne.
Enjoy all the area has to offer, and come back to your own paradise in the bush. Wake up to roos on the oval and enjoy a barbie with your group.

The land is characterised by rolling hills, covered by mostly open grassland, with patches of gum trees for shade, and a dam and creek. There's also a native eucalypt forest right across the road with miles of fire trails for walking and horse riding. In the cooler months, the land turns from shades of gold to greens.
There are no facilities, its just you and the land (bliss!) so ensure you have everything you need with you, and take all your waste when you leave.
If you fancy fresh fish for dinner, just down the road is Tuki Trout Farm, or nearby Cairn Curran Reservoir and Tullaroop Reservoir are great for fishing. The tourist villages of Newstead, Clunes and Maldon are all a short drive away, and Daylesford is just 35km drive.

Choose from 3 carefully selected camp sites and set up base camp to enjoy day trips exploring the local wineries, such as del Rios, walking and cycling trails of the You Yangs State Park, and Serendip Wildlife Sanctuary, or as a convenient overnight stop on your way to explore the Great Ocean Road
The camping area is easily accessed from maintained roads, where guests can drive in and park on the spacious lower paddock (no reversing or 3-point-turns necessary).
As this beautiful, secluded location is off-grid, guests will need to be Self Contained (BYO toilet/shower) and Leave No Trace.
If you would like to enjoy our property all to yourself, simply book two of the campsites, and send us a message and we will happily reserve the 3rd campsite for your group free of charge. We are happy to consider additional guests and up to 1 extra vehicle per campsite (camping with your friends, their kids and yours is more fun!) however, ensure to contact the Host to request and arrange this at the time of booking.
We expect our guests to be quiet and respectful to neighbouring farming families/properties. Parties and large groups are strictly not permitted. Please take everything with you and leave the site as you found it. Extra charges will apply for any rubbish, food scraps etc left on site.
Amenities: ‘Long Drop’ toilets, BBQs and picnic tables are available a short walk away at the Anakie Gorge Picnic grounds. When visiting the Anakie Gorge Walk/Picnic Grounds (Brisbane Ranges National Park) please observe and abide by the rules of Parks Victoria.

For the safety of our guests, bookings falling on Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating days will be cancelled and campers will be reimbursed.
Severe Weather and Bushfire: Please make yourself aware of bushfire or other severe weather warnings (e.g. ABC Emergency or Emergency Victoria) for UP-TO-DATE information, especially during the fire danger period.
Safety and Hazards: You are responsible for your own safety and the safety of those in your care. Hazards to be aware of: snakes, uneven ground, trees or loose/falling limbs (it is your responsibility to set up your camp in an area you deem free of hazards).
Flash flooding of Stony Creek (this is rare, however, please observe weather warnings at the time of camping). Please make yourself aware of bushfire or other severe weather warnings (e.g. ABC Emergency or Emergency Victoria) for UP-TO-DATE information, especially during the fire danger period. On Total Fire Ban days strictly NO flames or sparks, no exceptions.
Other things to be aware of: No mobile phone reception. You might achieve some mobile phone reception if you head back up Gorge Road to Staughton Vale Road, though this is dependent on your mobile phone provider and cannot be guaranteed.
Please check, temporary closures to the Anakie Gorge and/or the Brisbane Ranges and trail access requirements. Before commencing on bush walks, check local weather and bushfire advice for planned burns and bushfire warnings and let someone know before you go. Plan ahead and hike safely.

Perfect place to stay for bird watchers and nature lovers. Also for those interested in exploring the sun through solar telescope or night skies through large Dobsonian telescope
The hut has an inside wood heater and verandas this hut makes a cosy stay away. A 40 acre bush block with a Trust for Nature Covenant. This box-ironbark woodland block has 2 dams and plenty of wildlife, a great place for bird watching. A self guided nature walk on the property provides you with an introduction to the local ecosystem. There is also a bird list for the property along with photos and descriptions of some of these birds. There is a makeshift bird hide and binoculars that you can borrow.
The hut has a double bed (bedding provided), undercover of the veranda is a gas stove with two burners and a grill, outside a long drop toilet, water tank (not drinkable) but drinkable water will be provided. The hut is close to one of the dams. Only one booking at a time so you won’t be sharing camping site with anyone. Owners live on the property but out of view and ear shot. A picnic set, kettle, camp stove and saucepans available for use. Solar lights inside, internal wood heater outside fire pit. An outdoor camp shower and a composting toilet is located near hut.
Basic amount of wood provided for internal heater and cost $10 milk crate of wood for external fire pit, a crate should last a couple of hours.
A guided 90 minute star gazing experience using 500mm diameter telescope is offered for $50/session to guests of the antechinus hut. Depending on the time of year you will see galaxies, nebulae, star clusters and planets. This is only offered when conditions allow, clear skies and minimal moon. Note this activity involves use of step ladder due to size of telescope.
There is also solar astronomy, view viewing the sun through hydrogen alpha telescope. $30 for 30 minutes.
There are great bike rides off and on road, close to Cairn Curran (15km) for fishing and kayaking, also plenty of bushwalks and bird watching sites nearby. Newstead 5km away whilst Daylesford, Maldon and Castlemaine are about 25km away.

We loved camping at the Ridge. Wendy was an excellent host, she met us as we arrived to show us the campsite and checked in to see how settling in. A highlight of the trip for my kids was helping Wendy feed her chickens each day.
The campsite is in a beautiful spot, we were treated to some excellent sunrises and saw some wildlife (wallabies and kangaroos). It’s close to town and a great base to explore Hepburn springs and Daylesford.

Had a great time at Yeramba Sunset Campsite. Anneke was a great host, showing us around the property including the converted stables which housed a table tennis table and a spa.
The site is about an acre of flat grassy and fenced area with pine trees bordering 2 sides to offer some shelter from the wind. The firepit is large and plenty of wood was provided in an area next to the acre with nice shady gum trees, which was also close to the dam.
Internet reception was also pretty good.
Will definitely come again.

Great set up with the camp kitchen, Echidna cabin, drop toilet and water tanks, plus lots of other extras.

We absolutely loved our stay here, John was super hospitable and friendly, and checked in on us throughout the stay to make sure everything was ok. The property was gorgeous, lovely hills and trees and backing into a forest, we saw kangaroos and wallabies hop through, and there were rams in the paddock who were friendly but kept their distance. I would come back in a heartbeat, a truely lovely stay.

Top notch spot with a ledgend for a host, takes you far enough in that you really do get that bush feel while having very clean toilets and showers for the wife and not too far to get back on the road epic compromise. We had a fantastic time at Trout Site beside Lake 2. The atmosphere was truly amazing peaceful, immersive, and deeply connected to nature. We enjoyed complete privacy with no disturbances at all, making it feel like we were indulged in nature at its purest.
The landscapes are stunning, and the friendly sheep that came to greet us a couple of times a day added such a charming touch! We were spoiled with beautiful sunsets and awesome star gazing that made the evenings unforgettable.
Highly recommend this spot for anyone seeking a serene escape. Thank you to Mark for creating such a special place!

We totally loved our long weekend get away at Misty Mornings. It is a beautiful property with views across rolling grassed hills to the east and a forested backdrop to the west. Curious sheep walked past our camp by day with the mornings and evenings being the domain of the kangaroos. Eagles soared overhead during the day.
The location is perfect for exploring nearby Ballan, Blackwood, Ballarat and Daylesford and then spending the evening relaxing and chatting around the camp fire.

Ally was a great host even meeting us to guide us in due to a closed road in the area.

What an amazing spot! Lots of space, lots to do. It was quiet, so quiet. Very relaxing.
Close to Daylesford and other small town. Recommend Smeaton Hotel for a awesome feed and friendly service.
And Anneke is a gracious host. She check up on us to make sure all was good. She has lots of knowledge of things to do locally.

3 nights at Hut Amongst The Gum Trees
Had a great stay at Antechinus Hut.
Perfect amount of solitude and relaxation. Everything you need to "unplug" for city life.
Megan and Patrick were great hosts, very thorough and made me feel welcome.

Beautiful quiet spot. Loads of space to choose from. We loved being able to have a paddle in the dam. The site is cleared and flat but also surrounded by bush which was full of birds and wildlife. A great peaceful escape
