Only 10 minutes away from the Western Freeway you'll find the Lerderderg Lookout hidden at the base of the Lerderderg State Park. The property was titled in the 1970's and played host to horses and cattle over the early years before being rehabilitated and now being covered in a mixture of grass pastures and native bush. The property continues to be a sanctuary to native wildlife and is maintained to an ongoing excellent standard. Walking and bike riding tracks are less than 5mins away as the property sits at the base of the Lerderderg State Park.At less than 10 minutes from the Western Freeway and closest supermarket you will find your camping destination. On arrival you will see a roadside paddock less than 500m from the Lerderderg State Park and its phenomenal hiking and mountain bike trails. 2 Dams paddock has ample area for multiple campers and plays host to local wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, koalas and more! Walking into site is required but it is less than 50m to a prime position. Terrain is flat and trees will hide your view from the road.

Overall we had a good experience. Check-in and check-out was at a very generous time. Appreciate the clear instructions. Unfortunately we would have preferred some privacy given the road was right next to where we camped.

One of the best spots near Melbrn
One of the best spots super close to Melbourne. It’s so close to city but feels so far when you’re actually there! Peaceful location. Perfect for a quick getaway! The fact that there’s no network was even better. If you are desperate, you can get a bit of network on the top of the hill just few mins away. You can walk around inside the property. We saw a bunch of kangaroos hopping around. The night sky was so clear! Great for stat gazers! The toilet was also clean & well maintained. It was busy when we were there & spots for camping were quite close & unfortunately, one of our neighbours were very loud. Regardless we ll definitely be back here!

Very beautiful campsite where located on hills, it has a clean toilet with portable water. Nice view, can also find kangaroos and birds in the morning, about 10 mins drive to get into town to buy necessaries, very convenient. Thanks for Cameron’s messages before we get there.

Wouldn’t hesitate to return.
Great spot, had the place to ourselves. Plenty of birds and kangaroos probably because of the dam. Toilets were nice and clean and a tank of freshwater as per the description. The grass had been recently cut and no litter to be seen, let’s hope it stays that way. A quiet road does run alongside the property but we tucked ourselves away behind the trees and bushes and nobody would have known we were there. Wouldn’t hesitate to camp there again if I was looking for somewhere on the outskirts of Melbourne. We appreciate the owner making it available.
