Weekend Trip to Happy Healthy Valleys

Why you shouldn’t camp at Happy Healthy Valley… 1. The cows will want to share your breakfast (and campsite) 2. There aren’t designated and freshly mowed camping spots…you may even have to move a cow paddy or two. 3. You’ll have to build your own fire pit, sourcing rocks and sticks from around you. 4. The riverbed is strewn with massive trees washed down with floods. 5. There are so many rocks that your kids will insist n making all the #TasRocks and taking home kilos of “pretty stones”. 6. Google maps will take you on adventures to uncrossable bridges on roads you know cars haven’t been for quite some time. 7. There is no mobile coverage or wifi access. So why should you stay at happy valley?… 1. see the above 7 dot points.

We just loved being here, and want to go back already! So calming with the sound of the water flowing over the rocks, very relaxing. Toilet and shower were great, fire pits everywhere but BYO firewood. So picturesque!

Location to Port Aethur was fantastic. The rustic camp kitchen was very user friendly. Great hot shower. The long drop composting toilet was very welcome and it did not smell. Plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy this lovely farm. My dog had a ball. Marion is a marvellous host and thanks to her phone call got to see an aurora. Would highly recommend ✨️

Right next door to Port Arthur Historal site. Dog friendly. Can have a fire if you wish. Host was fantastic shared the history of the farm and surrounds. Site Manager was really lovely person. Would stay again.

10 nights at Marleen Herbs of Tasmania

This was our favourite campsite close to Barrington Lakes. The view was phenomenal. If we didn't have to recharge and dump our tanks every few days, we would have set up permanently, but I have no issue recharging when you get the stunning view without the crowds.

Weekend Trip to Semaphore Farm

Lovely camp, plenty of space and the facilities were great. The kitchen was fully equiped with utensils, pots, pants, etc. No electricity which was ok. The shower was spacious and worked perfectly. Caretaker very helpfull and kind.

5 nights at Cethana camp ground

Easy to find and I was greatly warmly upon arrival. The kitchen, bathroom, and laundry are basic, but they were clean and well maintained. The hot shower had good water pressure and was much appreciated after a long day exploring the sites around the area

3 nights at Blythe River Campground

The area for camping was beautiful. The babbling river and quiet area was so relaxing. Being able to take a shower is an unexpected and very welcome luxury. There were only three other campers on one of the nights and two on the others. This made meant there was plenty of space for each group. I think 17 separate campers on the site would be extremely crowded and make it not enjoyable. I think it would be best to limit it to perhaps 10 at most. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your little piece of paradise.

i absolutely loved the campsite. The field had a beautiful vista of farmland with a spectacular mountain backdrop. As the mist cleared in the morning the mountain appeared. The bathroom was a walk through an array of ordered shrubs and trees. It was clean, and generously offered apples and eggs for free. Marlene and her dog were very welcoming. Highly recommend!!

A quiet spot with a great view, I somehow lucked out and got the place to myself! The directions were easy to follow, yes the bathroom is a walk away from the site but it is lovely and clean. Also managed to see a stunning sunset and later the Aurora while I was there. Myself and my furry friend will definitely be back!

Excellent access to the camp ground. Two creeks merging at the bottom end provide a hypnotic experience of serenity. Lots of space with camp fires available at the non-fire danger period of the year. Amenities available for all requirements. A brilliant place to stay.

Maleen and Ronald's hospitality was outstanding. They were happy to tell you all about their herb farm and what they were doing. Facilities were fantastic and very clean. Great place to stay, a few minutes out of lovely Sheffield.

Fickle Break Farm is a 28-acre coastal property on the doorstep of a world-class surf break, only 30 mins from Hobart. You can walk out the door with your surfboard, bike, or running shoes and jump in the ocean or onto several beautiful coastal walking and riding trails. We are 10 minutes away from Lauderdale shops and 10 mins to the best surf beaches in Hobart on the South Arm Peninsula. Pitch your tent or park your set up on our beautiful grassy hilltop campsite overlooking the South Arm Peninsula and Mt Wellington in the distance. You'll enjoy good access to Mays Point surf break and the Clarence Coastal Trail just a few mins away with walking tracks to Cremorne and Lauderdale along the coast. The camping area has a communal fire pit, access to fresh water and power in our large shed if needed, and a table tennis table. We are on tank water, so please be mindful of this. And please drive slowly and be mindful of treading lightly on the land. We also offer a 5m lotus belle stargazer tent, situated at the very top of the property, nestled amongst the native trees and with water views, it has a luxurious queen-sized bed with beautiful linens and is a short walk away from the walking tracks to the beach. All guests have access to our well-maintained composting toilet with water views and a beautiful hot outdoor shower that is open to the sky. Next door is a large sheep property, and on our land we have friendly chooks, peacocks, Guinea pigs, miniature goats, horses and a border collie. Guests and children are welcome to pat, feed and cuddle the chooks, Guinea pigs, horses and the miniature goats! Dogs are welcome as long as they are friendly with other dogs and people, and can be trusted not to escape to the next-door sheep property (beware as farmers can be ruthless with dogs!). They will need to be supervised and restrained (tied up or placed in our closed-in yard at night so they don’t disturb wallabies and other wildlife). We love meeting new people and are passionate about our beautiful property so we can’t wait to share it with you!

Semaphore Farm is a 400-acre property with convict history, bordering the Port Artur historic site. It is a private timber reserve and a working forest farm. We have a combination of native eucalypt forest and plantation, and we grow hay and our own beef. We have many walking and bike trails through 150 acres of forest and pasture accessible to campers. The campsite has spring water on tap, a hot shower, toilet, rustic camp kitchen, wood stove, gas BBQ, level sites, and a campfire when permitted. Tent sites are flexible so you can choose your own space within a 2-hectare area, while Level pad sites are limited. The Port Arthur Historic Site and a safe swimming beach are within walking distance and Safety Cove and Remarkable Cave are only a 5-minute drive away. Longer walks, including the Three Capes tracks, are easily accessible. Launch your boat nearby to access good fishing or fish for squid off the Port Arthur jetty. There is plenty of wildlife to see at night and birds during the day. You might even see our resident Wedgetail Eagle! Dog-friendly (must be under control/on a lead/contained).

The Duck Hole at Farnese Olivo

Farnese Olivo is a family hobby farm set on 5 acres overlooking the Coal River Valley in Acton Park, just 15 minutes from Hobart CBD. The Duck Hole is a historic farm dam offering a quiet rural experience. We highly recommend 4WD only between April and August due to large amounts of rain periodically. All campers have free access to: - potable drinking water - shower (open air, cold only) - outdoor basic cassette/camp toilet for tent bookings only, we ask if you are self contained to use your own facilities - rubbish bins - fire pit and firewood - cast iron bbq plate and skillets for cooking in the fire pit - picnic table and chairs overlooking the dam - dam side hammock The property was established in the early 1980s on the site of one of Hobarts oldest farms (the original house built in 1826 still stands as a beautiful family home 2 doors up on our street). We are home to three friendly hand reared sheep - Daisy, Frank and Bill who love pats and food. Muscovy and Indian Runner Ducks, Chickens and many native birds. Overlooking the historic dam there is a shared fire pit with firewood supplied. There is a dump point within 6km, located in Cambridge Park for those with their own toilet. Some minor leveling may be required. The sheep pen and duck hole sites are pretty much flat. As we have farm animals, you will get to hear our sheep and ducks enjoying their environment. However, it is very quiet of an evening/night. We love meeting new people and are passionate about our property we can’t wait to share it with you and your family! WildWing Retreat

WildWing Retreat is a beautiful 25 acre bush block, located within a 15 minute (1km) walk, to the local surf beach of Four Mile. The property has been created to host retreats centred around nature immersion, movement and connection (i.e yoga, acroyoga, dance, meditation, mindfuness, embodiment practices etc) and in the 'off season' it's available to host hipcampers! Because the space has been designed to host large groups, there are a bunch of facilities available to use, such as compost toilets, a communal kitchen with fresh running water, solar lights and gas cooker, an undercover deck area, hot showers, and a cedar barrel hot tub (refer to the extras section for hot tub use!). We also have a small stream on the property, with a little waterhole for plunging in and are surrounded by native wildlife. The property blooms with native Kunzea bushes, wattles, native cherries and various varieties of eucalyptus. WildWing is also our home, so we have our own set up, on a different section of the property. This means that we are nearby if needed, but that we all have our own space on the property :). There is a beautiful large fresh water river and waterhole just down the road (15 minute walk, or 2 minute drive), and aside from the surf beach down the front, we are also only a 10-15 minute drive from a bunch of other beautiful and popular surf beaches on the east coast. The whole area is great for fishing, boating, surfing, bike riding, walking and short hikes. We are a 10 minute drive from Falmouth, a 25 minute drive from the St Helens mountain bike trails, a 30 minute drive from Bicheno & Douglas Apsley National Park, a 45 minute drive from the infamous Bay of Fires and an hours drive from the Freycinet National Park. We are passionate about outdoor living and supporting the natural environment and have created WildWing with the intention to support others to have unique and beautiful experiences in nature, while caring for the land they inhabit.
