Home to many rivers that traverse the property from top to bottom, the Boonoo Boonoo and Bookookookarara rivers and Undercliffe and Boonoo Boono Falls are close by and are popular sites to spend a few hours walking/hiking and immersing yourself in the ambient countryside. The Boonoo Boonoo and Bald rock National Parks are also within this area. The beautiful New England town of Tenterfield is about 20 minutes drive from the falls and offers visitors many shopping and restaurant options. Be sure to stop en route to visit the World War 2 tank traps - (Australia's Maginot Line) and Thunderbolt's hideout. A short drive across the border into Queensland will give you access to the Girraween National Park and a host of wineries, coffee shops, restaurants and pubs. This camping property is large and you will find no better place that allows for gentle as well as more advanced walking, hiking and mountain biking. The altitude on the property varies from 900m at the top down to 50m to the bottom. Campers are encouraged to meander along the continually changing River and explore its many secluded swimming holes and enjoy the abundant wildlife that cohabitates with the Angus/Wagyu cow herd. Direct access to the neighbouring National Parks and State Forests offers an array of day trips to hikers, mountain bikers, or horse riders where they can discover the natural treasures of Basket Swamp and Boonoo Boonoo Falls, Woolool Woolooni, among others. For those who require a little more comfort, and lets face it we all do at times, the Mindoo Cabin is available. Featuring three bedrooms, open plan living/dining/kitchen,and a shady deck overlooking the River the cabin sleeps eight and still allows visitors to partake in all the adventures that "Mindoo" offers with the benefit of a comfortable rest when the day is done. For those interested in exploring the park trails via horseback we can also provide secure lodgings for your horses, with quality hay available for purchase. Be as adventurous or as restfull as you please as both options are freely available. Mountain Biking, Hilking, Horse riding, or just riding your hammock and relaxing we are sure you will enjoy your time at "Mindoo" There is approximately 4km gravel road to get to the property. Mobile reception is patchy (telstra) you may need to get to the top of a hill for reception. Very little or no reception for other networks. Our aim is for your visit to be private so are spacing our sites . From Easter will no longer have undesignated river sites, all river sites will be designated and spaced a part. If you have a large group the Park One & the bend are large spaces. As most of our sites are on the river and have farm tracks to access, if it is wet we may have to move you to a different site. 4wds are recommended for all sites. Binghi Station, once a large sheep station, was a thriving tin and gem mine from the late 1800 to mid 1900. Set on 4,000 acres of natural granite rock country and untouched overgrowth of lush tea tree bushlands, the sheer beauty of the land will, without a doubt, leave you breathless of its raw natural beauty. Binghi Station surrendered to the ravaging bush fires of 2019, however, after this devastation came some much needed rainfall which brought hope; the creation of new life in the form of rich, vibrant green country not seen since the 1980’s. You can explore endlessly on this raw outback property. Discover secret hideouts, come and enjoy a swim under our flowing waterfall (for those brave enough to during the winter months!) and simply relax and soak in pure wildlife beneath a million stars in the night sky. We strongly recommend access by 4WD only as the entry 6klm driveway is rugged and very bumpy in most places due to heavy rain fall past 12 months. Please ask for more details if necessary should you have any concerns based on your equipment. Its an ongoing maintenance. The Secret Gorge site is suited to swags, tents and camper trailers. It is not suited for Caravans over 15' due to a tight corner. Other site locations are suited to off-road 4WD caravans and camper trailers. Céad Míle Fáilte A Hundred Thousand Welcomes Innisfree offers a spacious and private campsite, nestled beside the beautiful rocky Millar Vale Creek. Relax and unwind by the fire pit, or venture down the creek and explore the twists and turns of the crystal clear water. Located just over 1.5 hours from Brisbane, we are within easy reach for a perfect little getaway. We only have one site available so you will have this great little spot all to yourselves. We are within easy reach of Main Range National Park, Mount Cordeaux, and Mount Mitchell, as well as the Historic Maryvale Crown Hotel and Spicers Resort. Warwick is half an hour away. Pets are welcome but must be kept on leash/restrained at night. Pets must not disturb any of the livestock or native animals in the area. If you a lucky you may even spot platypus, there is abundant birdlife, bandicoots and bettongs if you are a nature lover. Horses/cattle live here so animal droppings are to be expected and cattle may bellow from time to time, it is a working farm after all. Please do not feed the horses or cattle. Campers must be fully self sufficient with their own camping toilet and must take all rubbish and waste with them on departure, as per the 'leave no trace' policy. BYO firewood.

Overview

Stanthorpe is the largest town on Queensland’s Granite Belt, a region renowned for the huge granite outcrops found in Girraween National Park. A 3-hour drive from Brisbane, near the border between Queensland and New South Wales, the town is also renowned for its cold-climate wineries. All said, it is a great base for exploring several nearby national parks, including Girraween, Sundown, and Bald Rock (across the border in NSW). Out of town, the landscape is dotted with vineyards and orchards, with opportunities to buy fresh produce directly from growers.

Where to go

Girraween National Park

About 26 km (16 miles) south of Stanthorpe, Girraween National Park is known for its huge 200-million-year-old Triassic granite boulders. Hikers and climbers can tackle Castle Rock, the Pyramid, and Mount Norman, while walkers have 17 km (10.5 miles) of tracks to explore.

Sundown National Park

A feature of Sundown National Park is the Severn River, which cuts through the park forming steep gorges and sharp ridges. In Red Rock Gorge, waterfalls cascade 50 metres (154 feet) over the red cliffs. Popular with birdwatchers, Sundown is also a great place for camping thanks to the riverside Broadwater camping area, home to a ranger station.

Mt Marlay

For panoramic views of the region, take the Mt Marlay Lookout and Summit Walk, a steep winding path on the edge of town. There are picnic tables and binoculars at the top.

Quart Pot Creek

Walking paths on both sides of Quart Pot Creek lead to picnic spots, playgrounds, and rock pools where you can swim. The Red Bridge was built in the 1880s as a railway bridge.

When to go

The Granite Belt has a distinct four seasons, and is renowned as the coldest place in Queensland, with winter sometimes even bringing snowfall. Spring is a great time to visit Girraween National Park, when the wildflowers are in bloom. Major festivals include the Apple and Grape Harvest Festival (March, every two years) and Brass Monkey Season every winter (June to August).

Know before you go

Camping permits are required for all Queensland parks, forests, and reserves. Reserve them online in advance, and make camping books as early as possible.
Stanthorpe has excellent facilities for stocking up before you go camping. You’ll find a post office, pharmacy, visitor information centre, banks, and car hire companies.
Many of the Granite Belt’s camping areas are within a short drive of wineries and cellar doors.
In spring, take the Amiens Road loop drive north of Stanthorpe for the best views of orchards in blossom. From early September, stone fruit trees are flowering, followed by apple trees in late September and early October.
