There is a lovely paddock for the dogs to take in the country atmosphere and located right next to the 40 acre nature reserve with 4kms of walking trails, what better way to Escape, Relax and Unwind. 69 species of birds have been identified on the property to date.
We also provide dog minding services! Photo updates supplied. Cost is $50 per day (add to your booking). All you need to do is supply your dog bed and food. Recently our guests enjoyed a trip to Fraser Island and were very impressed with the service provided. So if you love your fur baby and you still want to have a holiday experience, just come and stay here and we can enhance your stay by giving your fur babies a holiday too.
You may be moved to a different site if your chosen site is too wet. We use Good Riddance products for the midges & mozzies during summer because it works, its non toxic + deet free. We have dry firewood (hardwood) available on the verandah for $15/15kg crate. There are plenty of sites to choose from.
One vehicle = 1 site - more than 1 vehicle can fit on any of the sites.

Buxton Bush Retreat is a privately owned parcel of 17 acres located 7 kilometers (6 minute drive) from the quaint seaside village of Buxton.
The front 5 acres is 'home' to Kerrie and Brian, their two puppies (Jazz and Jaxi) and two cats (Bangers and Mash).
The remainder of the property (about 12 acres) comprises of flat, well grassed areas and natural bushland.
There are eight(8) well maintained, large, flat camping areas and each has its own fire pit. An initial supply of firewood will be provided.
There is no water or power throughout these camping areas, hence they are only suitable for "fully self contained" motor homes and caravans.
Apart from humans, dogs and cats, the property is inhabited by kangaroos and a variety of birdlife.
The small township of Buxton is home to a mixture of permanent residents and holiday homes. There is one general store which sells most consumables, including alcohol. They also serve up meals every Wednesday. Buxton has a great little boat ramp on the Isis River which provides easy access for river fishing or to the Coral Sea for ocean fishing.

We offer numerous camping sites on cleared land lined by trees, near to our gully and seasonal creek. Each site is private and offers plenty of space. Campers must be self-contained with their own camp toilet, but there is a 24/7 dump station just 2km away.
A stone's throw from the campsites is access to the mobility corridor/bike path, which takes you straight into Hervey Bay and continues all the way past the shops to Urangan pier, offering 15km of ocean frontage to explore.
Our farm is located about 2.5km from both hospitals (private and government) for any care that you may need. All specialists and consulting facilities are very convenient.
Next door to the campsites is our fantastic local cafe, The Depot Espresso Bar, open at 6 in the morning. They're happy to take orders for our campers from 5:30 if you knock! It's perfect for hopping on your bike from camp, grabbing your morning caffeine fix, and continuing on the day's biking adventure.
Campfires are permitted, but please BYO firepit, and there is plenty of fallen timber you are welcome to collect and split yourself. Pets are welcome too!

90 acres of natural bushland with 300 meters of Mary River frontage. This is a great place for a base camp to explore the region. Campsites are nestled amongst trees.
There's nothing here but peace and quiet, spacious sites. The banks of the river are quite high and there is limited access into the water.
There are 2 boat ramps about 7 or 8 klms from the property.
Arrive between midday and 2pm if possible so you can set up your camp. Don't forget to bring your insect repellent as you are in the bush and beside the river.
We have also just built a shelter shed/camp kitchen have 1000 litre water pods.
No rubbish bins at the camp so bring everything you need & remove everything you bring.
- Dogs welcome. Due to past incidents, friendly, non -aggressive dogs only please.
- Campfires permitted in designated areas when restrictions aren't in place
- Free firewood, gather fallen timber from the land

We had a wonderful 2-night stay here and absolutely loved it. Kym was such a lovely host, very friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. The campsite itself is small, peaceful, and really beautiful, which made the experience feel extra special. We were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves, making it even more relaxing and private. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet getaway surrounded by nature!

Was a great peaceful camp. Gorgeous sites to choose from along the rivers edge and easy access . Didn't meet the host all weekend, we did send message but to no reply. But all good, no issues at all. No shower or dro toilet facilities, which was fine. But some listing's advise it was available.. would stay and recommend again :)

Directions were clear. Other campers were close for powered sites but scarce for unpowered. It was very quiet except for road noises from busy roundabout approx 700m away but manageable. Staff were brilliant. Great for base camp. Watch out for roos in the early morning.

We loved it here. Great spot. Owner spreads out the vans nicely so you don’t feel cramped. Wonderful views out to the water & Fraser. A bit further to the beach & Hervey Bay than we realised so bear that in mind. But worth it for the serenity, less campers & not being crammed in to a caravan park. Lovely grounds with gardens nearby. Lots of wildlife, kangaroos hang around all the time! Love the whole area, we had a great time both at the campsite & in Hervey Bay. Would be a great stopover coming to/from Fraser as ferry is nearby. Thank you for sharing your beautiful property & keeping it at a reasonable price too.

This is a stunning property. Beautiful views of K’gari (Fraser Island), quiet, and relaxing and the sustainable nature of their farm and business makes it all the more enjoyable. Literally dozens of kangaroos to see. John and Heidi are the perfect hosts and the bonus is, I will be leaving with more than ten jars of delicious homemade organic jams, chutneys, and sauces. Will definitely return before too long. Highly recommend staying here. You will love it 😊

Beautiful views. Plenty of space. Fresh produce. You wouldn't know you were eating bananas, it was just a mouthful of sweetness! Potable water available which is liquid gold when caravanning. Highly recommend Virtue Farm and its hosts.

The property is very well kept John & Heidi are so lovely, firewood and fresh eggs were available. The local mob of Kangaroos were a highlight and the views of K’gari were beautiful. We took a great stroll through the orchid and there are so many varieties of plants that will test your knowledge. Highly recommended- five stars 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

My sister and I absolutely loved camping here. The views were incredible and it was so peaceful. A particular highlight was watching the kangaroos at sunrise looking out over K’Gari, it really was an amazing experience. John and Heidi were so welcoming, which made the stay even more enjoyable. Would 100% recommend and will definitely be returning in the future!

1 night at Buxton Bush Retreat
Great property, each spot is very large and spots aren't on top of each other. The complimentary firewood was appreciated although with the recent rains took a couple of does to get it started to be expected. Bring plenty of aeroguard for the mozzies but again it could be just because it has been raining. Look forward to stopping in again and recommend to all looking to book. Not to be confused with the Buxton bush camp up the road where everyone is on top of each other, drinking and partying through the night. This camp couldnt be more different... Two thumbs up.

With pets
We really enjoyed this place. Kym was the best host. Communication great and nothing was too hard. Very helpful and friendly. The layout is cosy but great. We were surprised how much we enjoyed staying there. Plenty of animal life. Lots of birds chirping away. Grass was actually lawn 👍. We didn’t intend to spend a lot of time on site as we had a function to attend. But we did laze around for most of 2 days of our 4 days. Also……
Close to town (Hervey Bay)
Best part is security!
So unlike caravan parks and the like this property is secure. Also gated. So when we went out, we felt comfortable leaving things in and around the van as they were.
All in all we will go back there when we visit again. Certainly recommend ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
