The campsite features a large flat grassy area with great access for 2WDs and all types of camping vehicles from caravans to campervans and motorhomes. Plenty of room to turn your vehicle around and a lockable gate means your campsite is secure.
We welcome self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower and drinking water.
Our front paddock is visited nightly by lots and lots of wallabies. We have fantastic sunrises and sunsets here. You’ll really love the great views we have towards the east and west.
Recently the owners of the paddocks to our north have started developing them, and we now have a solid fence along the north boundary to protect our/your privacy.
Please be aware that on some days there can be noise from the work site from 7am. Fortunately it's not everyday and they are usually gone by 2:30pm.
We are still a peaceful campsite with plenty of bird and animal life only 10 minutes from the centre of Cairns and the Wallabies still come to visit, on any given night we can have up to 70 of them in the paddock!

This is an unused bathroom downstairs so you will still have privacy. Access into the property is not suitable for large motorhomes. Entry will be too small for vehicles approx 8.5 metres long and 3.5 metres high.We grow exotic fruit on the property including limes, pomelos, mangosteens and more. When it's in season, you're welcome to sample some! Gordonvale is the nearest town, with a quiet historic charm, just 15 minutes drive away, while Cairns is around 25 minutes.

denuded cattle land, and now we are surrounded by the most beautiful rainforest.
We planted approximately 8000 trees.!
We have 4 sites available all close to the river, and can provide water as well as access to our toilet. We are agile wallaby carers, with the rescued joeys being released back into the forest from here. After a day of kayaking or hiking or exploring the area we also offer a sunset massage (as available ) by a local masseuse who lives on the property. The campsite features a large flat grassy area with great access for 2WDs and all types of camping vehicles from caravans to campervans and motorhomes. Plenty of room to turn your vehicle around and a lockable gate means your campsite is secure.
We welcome self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower and drinking water.
Our front paddock is visited nightly by lots and lots of wallabies. We have fantastic sunrises and sunsets here. You’ll really love the great views we have towards the east and west.
Recently the owners of the paddocks to our north have started developing them, and we now have a solid fence along the north boundary to protect our/your privacy.
Please be aware that on some days there can be noise from the work site from 7am. Fortunately it's not everyday and they are usually gone by 2:30pm.
We are still a peaceful campsite with plenty of bird and animal life only 10 minutes from the centre of Cairns and the Wallabies still come to visit, on any given night we can have up to 70 of them in the paddock!

When it's in season, you're welcome to sample some! Gordonvale is the nearest town, with a quiet historic charm, just 15 minutes drive away, while Cairns is around 25 minutes.

Both Dean and his brother Chris were super friendly and helped us with everything we needed. We can also recommend visiting Hartley’s Crocodile Adventure, as ist is right next door. Overall we really enjoyed our time here and would happily visit again!

Hartleys Creek Retreat pleasantly surprised us with beautiful creek-side, large and well maintained sites. Dean greeted us apon arrival providing guidance and site information as well as hints & tips for the immediate area. The amenities are modern, clean and easily accessible from all sites. Hartleys Creek Retreat is well located between Port Douglas and Cairns and an easy drive to must see attractions in the area. We had a wonderful stay here. Dean is an incredibly kind and welcoming host—he greeted us at the gate, showed us around the campground, and shared lots of helpful local advice. The atmosphere is very calm and relaxing, and the bathrooms were spotless and well maintained. The campground has everything you need for a comfortable stay, and being able to take a refreshing dip in the creek was a real highlight. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful and well-run camping experience.
