Creekside Camp at The Leitner Homestead. Cross the concrete bridge and you’ll find, nestled in the heart of the Wet Tropics, this creekside campsite at The Leitner Homestead. With room for a van, campervan or tent, you’ll wake up to the sounds of the rainforest and have Freshwater Creek just steps away—perfect for a morning dip, kayak or simply sitting by the water. Enjoy your own patch of paradise, surrounded by tropical greenery right beside the creek. The area is well-maintained, with easy access for vans. Our house is visible from the spot but don’t let that deter you from enjoying the view of the creek and all that the area has to offer. There is plenty to see and do close by. Walking distance to the local coffee shop and swimming hole or cross the creek to find a walking or riding path that takes you on a lovely journey in the rainforest and past the iconic Cairns sugarcane fields. Crystal Cascades is a short 4 minute drive and is well worth a look. Conveniently located just 20 minutes from cairns city and the beaches. The perfect spot to be used as a base camp to explore the various local attractions or a quick one night stop over and be on the road again. We have a young dog who is very friendly but may bark if you arrive after dark. We also have a few chickens roaming about and a pet pig up near the house. We homeschool our 3 kids but are out and about a lot during the week. They may pop down to bring you a few garden treats if we have any available when you stay. Key Features: • Creekside camping – direct access to Freshwater Creek • Room for a van, camper van or tent • Bring your own fire pit and enjoy a fire by the creek during the cooler months of the year BYO everything, and leave only footprints. Whether you’re looking for a nature escape or a base to explore Cairns and the surrounding region, this spot at The Leitner Homestead is for you.Creek side camp is located right beside Freshwater Creek in the lush rainforest suburb of Redlynch, Cairns. Once you cross the bridge, its easy access off the main driveway for caravans or camper vans on the top level. For extra privacy, pitch a tent on the lower level even closer to the creek.
