It is also directly opposite the stunning Wangetti beach which is 5 kilometres long and overlooks the islands. Ten minutes to shops. 20 minutes to Port Douglas and 35 minutes to Cairns.A scenic and relaxing spot only Metres to Hartleys Creek, with both fresh water all year round and estuary further down with an abundance of fish such as mangrove jack,archer fish, and Barramundi. We respectfully request that fishing in the creek is not allowed but plenty of good fishing is to be had at wangetti Beach across the road. A gazbo area is provided for dining with BBQ availability,and a paved creek viewing deck for a cold beer or taking time out in a hammock Hartleys Creek retreat was once a popular tropical zoo 20 years ago. It is now a retreat surrounded by world heritage forest. A bonus for bird lovers. We have a locally popular waterfall behind us named Hartleys Falls. It is a 35-40 minute walk along a forest trail. Difficulty score of around 6. On arrival you will be amazed at the flat rock water falls, with pristine water from the mountains. For the more adventurous continue to the Hartleys Falls. An additional 30-40 minutes. Amazing ancient waterfall surrounded by old growth forest with root systems encapsulating the smooth rock boulders along the creek system. Bring a camera.

Nice little spot next to the creek. Kids enjoyed watching the local croc.

Hartleys Creek Retreat
The so called retreat was the size of a house block ground was uneven and sheets of roofing on ground over priced stay in caravan park with amenities for same price dissapointed

Hartleys Creek Retreat
Deans place was such a welcome surprise. The site was overlooking the ck and waterfall walk was well worth it for a refreshing swim. Dean is an awesome host full of great tips and super friendly. A must stop on your way to the cape and so much better than commercial caravan parks.

Beautiful setting with Creek frontage. Great hike to the stunning waterfall. Very close to the beach.
