We are wildlife carers and have turned our property into a wildlife reserve for the animals. There is wildlife including wallabies (agile and betongs), brush tail possums and birds. A night viewing of possums and wallabies may be available. Please contact hosts to arrange this viewing. Enjoy the sunsets as you relax around the campfire. The property is surrounded by various nature reserves and attractions in the area within a 30 minute drive.(Granite Gorge Nature park, Davis creek national park and Emerald creek falls) We have three separate sites secluded from each other. One site accommodates large recreational vehicles, and is drive through, with farmland and hill views. The other two sites are situated by the creek. Please contact us before booking to discuss which site is best for your vehicle and camping set up.  This campsite suits self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water supply. Your beloved pooch is most welcome to join you but required to remain within your campsite and must be restrained during the night due to the wildlife. If you would like to stay longer, we are happy to offer you a discount code (minimum 4 nights) - please contact us prior to booking. Children aged 13 years and under camp for free. Senior discounts available.

Nature chills
A beautiful spot. Tranquil, calm, creek-side and relaxed. In fact, all the camp spaces reflected the beautiful energy of the hosts; Jan and Phil, who have created a wonderful place for adventure lovers of nature…as shown in their interest and continued endeavour of respecting and preserving our wildlife. It is a real gem, nestled in the heart of the short outskirts of the Mareeba environment. Will certainly frequent again.

This was our 2nd time staying at Wally’s Roost and had a great time once again! We stayed at Site 1 which has lot of shade and more than enough space to set up 2 large tests and a cazebo. We love that they’re dog friendly! We will be back for sure ☺️.

Camping fun for the whole family!
We love this place! Only 1.5 hours away from home and our 8year old sons favourite weekend camping escape! We can bring our dogs, the hosts are there if needed, but not around if you want privacy. The creek is amazing and it’s just a really relaxing place to be!

Camping close by.
My partner and I are from Atherton and were seeking a night away. We only ever camp very isolated on friends stations, however this time wanted somewhere close and easy. We were nervous that we would be surrounded by other campers and the hosts would be too close. We were pleased to find this wasn't the case. Our two very energetic dogs loved the option of running around the camp site and/or swimming in the water hole in the creek. Deep enough for me to cool off in too. Even though the venue was booked out, we didn’t come cross anyone else and felt at ease tucked away in our own private corner of the property. Thank you :)

Camping with Betongs
Camping at Phil and Janette's was fantastic. The spot was amazing, we had a gorgeous place near a sweet running creek. Phil and Janette were absolutely lovely. We had a very special experience of seeing some gorgeous little betongs on the property which was absolutely amazing.

Wish we Stayed Longer!
Loved our time at Wally’s Roost. Easy to find and plenty of space to set up and park. I will definitely be back. Missed the wildlife feeding because our bub decided to crack the shits but gives us something to look forward to next time! Thank you for letting us stay!
