Welcome to Hectic Valley Farm, tucked away in Mutchilba on the Atherton Tablelands. This is a working farm with a bit of everything — free range chickens, friendly animals, open space, and a slower pace that’s hard to find. We’ve recently refreshed the setup to make your stay more comfortable, including a new shower and toilets for campers, plus a farm shop stocked with fresh eggs and local goodies. We offer simple, rustic bathroom facilities designed to suit the natural farm setting. Guests also have access to our separate rustic shower block, featuring two private “under the stars” shower bays with warm water, corrugated iron country charm, and a peaceful open-air feel that fits perfectly with the farm stay experience. It’s simple, comfortable, and one of our favourite parts of the farm. The setup is off-grid and keeps things low-impact, while still giving you the essentials for a comfortable stay. It’s not a resort, and that’s exactly the point. You’ll get real farm life, fresh air, and plenty of space to unwind. Wake up to animals, wander the property, or just sit back and enjoy the quiet. We’re a great base if you want to explore the Tablelands, or just stay put and switch off for a bit. — Good to know: • 2WD accessible in dry conditions • Pet friendly (must be controlled at all times) • Campfires allowed when conditions permit • Firewood available onsite • Family friendly Farm animal areas are part of our paid tour experience and aren’t included with camping. A spacious, absolute waterfront site set right along the dam bank, offering a peaceful and private escape surrounded by nature. The site runs long and narrow along the water’s edge, with a steady, easy walk straight into the dam. Generous in size, it comfortably accommodates 2 caravans or multiple tents, making it perfect for families or small groups wanting to stay together without feeling crowded. Facilities: Private portalo toilet located at the campsite. Showers are a 450m walk away, set in a rustic, open-air block designed for an “under the stars” experience. Access: 4WD recommended. High clearance required for campers and caravans.

A peaceful, spacious campsite perfect for families, Water Lily is tucked between two seasonal creeks and right on the edge of the main dam. With plenty of room for kids to roam and explore, this site gives you that “let them run free” feeling while still being safe and private. Set among bushland and completely secluded, it’s an easy place to slow down, relax, and enjoy time together. Spend your days walking the farm tracks, heading out for a 4WD adventure, or simply enjoying the open space. The dam is right nearby for a paddle, a fish, or just sitting back and taking it all in. As the sun goes down, gather around the fire pit, cook up dinner, and enjoy those classic camping nights under the stars while the kids unwind after a big day outdoors. Make your stay even more memorable by meeting and feeding our friendly farm animals. Animal experiences can be added via Hipcamp Extras, with feed available for hand feeding. Good to know: this is our largest campsite, suitable for up to four to five caravans. Access: A dry gully crossing is required to reach the site, so higher-clearance vehicles and off-road caravans are recommended. Facilities: Each campsite includes its own private long-drop toilet, giving you privacy and convenience without shared campground blocks. Plus access to our rustic hot shower block with two shared hot showers under the stars.

Tucked away in your own private pocket of bushland, this is the kind of place you come to properly switch off. Set beneath native trees and gum trees, the site feels completely removed from the outside world — no roads, no buildings, just open space and the sounds of nature. Spend your days unwinding under the trees with a cold drink, listening to birdlife and watching the bush come alive. As the sun goes down, you might spot the occasional possum passing through. There are plenty of tracks to explore around the farm, whether you feel like a relaxed wander or heading out for a 4WD adventure. Just a short 5-minute walk from camp is the dam — perfect for a swim, paddle board, or a bit of catch-and-release fishing. For those who like to explore, you can even try your hand at finding freshwater mussels and red claw. For a more hands-on experience, guests can book a farm animal encounter as a Hipcamp Extra and meet our friendly mix of animals. Good to know: this is our second largest campsite, suitable for up to two caravans and a large tent. Facilities: Each campsite includes its own private long-drop toilet, giving you privacy and convenience without shared campground blocks. Open, airy and quietly tucked into the bush, White Gum offers a relaxed camping spot with plenty of breathing room. Set beneath scattered gum trees and surrounded by native bushland, it’s a great place to slow down and enjoy the simple side of farm life. This site has an easy, laid-back feel while still being private, making it ideal for couples, families or small groups looking for space without feeling too tucked away. Spend your days wandering the farm tracks on foot or by 4WD, or take the short 3 minute stroll to the dam for a swim, paddle, or a bit of catch and release fishing. You can also try your luck finding freshwater mussels and red claw along the edges. For a hands-on farm experience, you can book in to meet and feed our friendly animals as a Hipcamp Extra. Review direct from my kids.."Hectic Valley was amazing! We wanted to stay for two months! Playing with the animals everyday was the best!". Kirsty, Ann and Steven were so helpful. The Waterfront site was a little windy at times (winter) but great access to the water and farm for petting the animals. We'll be back!

Water Lily Campsite
My child wanted to come for their birthday last year, my younger child loved so much we had to come back for their birthday. The camping spot was amazing. Nice and secluded, water safe for the children, plenty of space for them to run around. We had kayaks, SUP boards, hours of fun. Each morning the farm was great as always. My children just sit for hours with the small chick's they enjoyed the company while doing so. The other children loved feeding every other animal on the farm. Such big smiles after the interactions. The wood was dropped off to us, and toilet paper topped up. Everybody approachable when we had minor issues (hornets which can't be helped) and dealt with straight away and with a smile. Nothing too much. Thank you again for great company, happy tired children and fantastic memories. We will see you again.

Pandanus Campsite
Great spot for the whole family....or three 🙌🙌😁 Pandanus was far enough away to feel like we had the whole place to ourselves, and yet just a little wander away from the farm house for fresh eggs and firewood. Shaded spot full of trees for hammocks, and a wonderful central firepit for all 11 of us to sit around long into the night.

We had an amazing stay at Hectic Valley Farm Camping! The campsite was peaceful, well maintained, and surrounded by beautiful scenery. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind. The hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. We can't wait to come back and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great camping experience!

We had a very relaxing stay at Hectic Valley Farm. The site was big, and flat with ample shade. Very handy to have a loo on site and the warm shower block was a short walk away too. We loved stargazing at night, kayaking and watching the birdlife on the dam!

We tent camped beside the dam. The entire site was ours and it was huge! The ducks were natures tv. Loved the rustic showers..HOT shower! Animal feeding at the farmhouse was amazing! Thoroughly enjoyed that experience and Kirsty had so much knowlege to share. She was a really lovely person.

Really quiet campsite. Lots of chickens, birds and cows and even camels on the property. Great sunsets, fires and the feeling of being miles away from everything. We purchased a dozen eggs which were delicious! The outside shower was really cool. Thanks Kirsty, for sharing your property with us campers!! Highly recommend A+++

We had a wonderful stay at the Waterfront campsite at Hectic Valley. The property was absolutely stunning and exactly as described in the listing. Access was easy, making it convenient to come and go throughout our stay while exploring the area. The campsite was well maintained, peaceful, and surrounded by beautiful scenery. The fresh eggs provided by the hosts were amazing. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway that is dog friendly and in a beautiful setting, we highly recommend Waterfront at Hectic Valley. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return in the future.

Hectic Valley is an awesome campground, the shower block is very cute & practical to have. It was so peaceful and you’re not close to other campers. Everything was very easy to find & navigate even with minimal reception. Well worth it, will definitely be back :)

Loved our 2 days we spent there in our caravan. We were made to feel so welcome the whole time we were there. LOVED SEEING AND FEEDING ALL THE ANIMALS .GOOSE THE BABY GOAT WAS MY FAVOURITE, OMG SO SO CUTE. Bought some delicious true free range eggs.Yummmmm. Please go and checkout this amazing farm and support them as feeding all those animals are not cheap.They also take in rescue animals too. Learnt so much about the different types of eggs and chickens etc. Thankyou for treating us like family. Highly recommend it.

We stayed on the waterfront campsite, nice and big for larger groups or caravans and right on the dam which was perfect for kayaking and swimming. Our kids loved feeding the farm animals daily during our stay!

Great big campsite. Narrow, but long, with a couple of fire rings. Plenty of trees for shade, but no worries keeping my solar in sun. Easy entry points for kayaks. Could walk to showers and long drop toilet, but I drove with small kids. Showers were cold, but so beautiful it didn't matter at all. Just love the rustic setting and big shower rooms! Kids absolutely loved feeding all the animals! Second time for us camping at Hectic Valley, shouldn't leave it so long between visits. Kirsty and Anne are just so friendly, inviting, hospitable and generous.

We stayed at Pandanus. It is shady and you get a large area of bush to unwind and listen to the birds. We will be back for more stargazing and getting away from the hustle and bustle. Kirsty is a kind and very helpful host. Thank you Kirsty.

Stayed at the Lilly Creek camp site at Hectic Valley Farms. Highly recommended 👌. Very large site with it's own drop toilet, with a view!! We also found the site well mowed, not just slashed which was handy. All in all, a very nice place to spend Easter 2026. We will be back, thanks Kirsty!!

The waterfront spot was amazing, my grandkids had the best time especially feeding the animals and spending time in the canoe on the water. It was so good having the area all to ourselves where we are not crowded and on top of everyone else. Kirsty was a wonderful host

Water Lily Campsite
Hectic Valley is a young and working farm and we really enjoyed our stay! The sites are very generous, with plenty of shady trees (bring your hammock!) and some right next to the dam which hosts many birds and some of the farms poultry. Its dog friendly with lovely scenery and little bush tracks. Campfires allowed and some fire rings are provided. In the booking was the option to include the animal feeding in the morning which I'm so glad we did! We were very warmely welcomed and everyone had a wonderful time feeding and playing with the baby goats, chickens and geese, goats and pigs, camels and water buffalos and many more! Best stay for families with children including groups of families!
