Welcome to Hectic Valley Farm, tucked away in Mutchilba on the Atherton Tablelands. This is a working farm with a bit of everything — free range chickens, friendly animals, open space, and a slower pace that’s hard to find. We’ve recently refreshed the setup to make your stay more comfortable, including a new shower and toilets for campers, plus a farm shop stocked with fresh eggs and local goodies. We offer simple, rustic bathroom facilities designed to suit the natural farm setting. There are three long-drop toilets and a separate shower block with two private shower bays, shared between guests. The setup is off-grid and keeps things low-impact, while still giving you the essentials for a comfortable stay. It’s not a resort, and that’s exactly the point. You’ll get real farm life, fresh air, and plenty of space to unwind. Wake up to animals, wander the property, or just sit back and enjoy the quiet. We’re a great base if you want to explore the Tablelands, or just stay put and switch off for a bit. — Good to know: • 2WD accessible in dry conditions • Pet friendly (must be controlled at all times) • Campfires allowed when conditions permit • Firewood available onsite • Family friendly Farm animal areas are part of our paid tour experience and aren’t included with camping. A peaceful, spacious campsite perfect for families, Water Lily is tucked between two seasonal creeks and right on the edge of the main dam. With plenty of room for kids to roam and explore, this site gives you that “let them run free” feeling while still being safe and private. Set among bushland and completely secluded, it’s an easy place to slow down, relax, and enjoy time together. Spend your days walking the farm tracks, heading out for a 4WD adventure, or simply enjoying the open space. The dam is right nearby for a paddle, a fish, or just sitting back and taking it all in. As the sun goes down, gather around the fire pit, cook up dinner, and enjoy those classic camping nights under the stars while the kids unwind after a big day outdoors. Make your stay even more memorable by meeting and feeding our friendly farm animals. Animal experiences can be added via Hipcamp Extras, with feed available for hand feeding. Access: A dry gully crossing is required to reach the site, so higher-clearance vehicles and off-road caravans are recommended. Tucked away in your own private pocket of bushland, this is the kind of place you come to properly switch off. Set beneath native trees and gum trees, the site feels completely removed from the outside world — no roads, no buildings, just open space and the sounds of nature. Spend your days unwinding under the trees with a cold drink, listening to birdlife and watching the bush come alive. As the sun goes down, you might spot the occasional possum passing through. There are plenty of tracks to explore around the farm, whether you feel like a relaxed wander or heading out for a 4WD adventure. Just a short 5-minute walk from camp is the dam — perfect for a swim, paddle board, or a bit of catch-and-release fishing. For those who like to explore, you can even try your hand at finding freshwater mussels and red claw. For a more hands-on experience, guests can book a farm animal encounter as a Hipcamp Extra and meet our friendly mix of animals. Facilities: A long-drop toilet is conveniently located right beside the campsite, with access to a shared rustic shower a 350m walk away — keeping things simple while still offering the essentials for a comfortable stay.

Open, airy and quietly tucked into the bush, White Gum offers a relaxed camping spot with plenty of breathing room. Set beneath scattered gum trees and surrounded by native bushland, it’s a great place to slow down and enjoy the simple side of farm life. This site has an easy, laid-back feel while still being private, making it ideal for couples, families or small groups looking for space without feeling too tucked away. Spend your days wandering the farm tracks on foot or by 4WD, or take the short 3 minute stroll to the dam for a swim, paddle, or a bit of catch and release fishing. You can also try your luck finding freshwater mussels and red claw along the edges. For a hands-on farm experience, you can book in to meet and feed our friendly animals as a Hipcamp Extra. Water Lily Campsite
Hectic Valley is a young and working farm and we really enjoyed our stay! The sites are very generous, with plenty of shady trees (bring your hammock!) and some right next to the dam which hosts many birds and some of the farms poultry. Its dog friendly with lovely scenery and little bush tracks. Campfires allowed and some fire rings are provided. In the booking was the option to include the animal feeding in the morning which I'm so glad we did! We were very warmely welcomed and everyone had a wonderful time feeding and playing with the baby goats, chickens and geese, goats and pigs, camels and water buffalos and many more! Best stay for families with children including groups of families!

Cattle Creek Campsite
I loved camping at Hectic Valley farm! My kids loved feeding the animals, giving them scratches and experiencing new things. The hosts are so lonely and we're really excited about showing you around and sharing their love of the animals. The camp site was really beautiful and spacious with enough room for my 2 cars and camper trailer plus a mates car with roof top tent. Would definitely go again.

Loved camping at Cattle Creek. Large space, flat for a tent, beautiful views of the lake. Swimming was so nice and animals in walking distance. Highly recommend! Can get very hot and you will need to bring shade. But will be returning!

Loved the site, very friendly host. Bought amazing multicoloured eggs. Farm tours if that’s your thing. Enjoyed a spot of fishing. ☺️ To face the water - if in a caravan, entering via the farm house road and not the signposted route.

A really peaceful spot with lots to do! The animal feeding was a huge hit with our daughter. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet at our camp spot, walks along the damn, attempted to fish with no luck - still fun! So much space too - we were at Water Lilly campsite.

Great site. Felt like we were in the middle of nowhere with beautiful gum trees and bush surrounding us. Peaceful and safe. Our dog had plenty of space but still safe and close to camp well away from other sites and the animals.

Last minute fined on the way outa town. Really nice spot to stop in, secluded. Owners are really friendly have firewood for sale if you’re like us and forgot to get some. Will be back.

Stayed around the backside of the small hill and honestly I would move even further back. Really beautiful sunrise and sunset. We did the farm the following morning as well and the animals are very people friendly. Had a 2 year old on her first camping trip and it was such an easy camping trip, well as easy as it can be with a toddler. Lol. There’s portable toilets and the dam is so nice in the afternoon. My partner took her paddle board out and there were duck families everywhere. Plenty of space and while we could see other campers( not very well), we could have easily rearranged to be completely secluded. The farm in the morning was great as well. The animals were all people friendly and we fed goats, cows, horses, camels and water buffalos. All are super chill and fun to pat. Kirsty was great with our daughter and gave us plenty of feed for the animals and answered all our questions.

Great camp! Host were amazing! Well worth a stay, the farm animals where definitely a highlight (so friendly) great experience for a very low cost. Did catch 4 fish in the dam (with small lures), no photos 😔 as there was no reception so phone stayed in the tent the whole time, making the experience even better to be honest. Will be back!! Amazing place to unwind

Great camp spot, definitely need high clearance caravan to access though. We managed our 22ft off road van without any issues. Took the kids up to the farm house and spent a couple of hours feeding the animals, also based ourselves here to explore the region.

What a great camp-site on a private farm, Waterlilly site was very private and spacious and surrounded by gum trees and a gorgeous dam! Our pups loved the space and being able to take dips in the dam. Bonus, beautiful fresh eggs from the farm, absolutely delicious 😋 We will be back. Thank you, Kirsty.

Really easy camp that is great for kids. We booked the Water Lily camp which is very big and private with lots of areas to set up in. The middle of camp is in full sun during the day but there are plenty of trees and shady spots around the edges. We hung out near the dry creek bed which was lovely and cool. Kids loved making a cubby down near the dam. Wish we brought a kayak. Kirsty is lovely. My mum loved the eggs and the kids enjoyed patting the cows. We had a few swims at the Walsh creek about 10min up the road. Shout out also to the lovely people at Mutchilba Roadhouse. There is a bit of noise from the highway but it didn’t bother us. Toilet is a portaloo and it worked fine. All up spot for a quick and easy camp.
