Flaggy Creek Caravan Camp is situated within a 260 acre rural property set aside for wildlife aiming to offer a peaceful and relaxing place to escape the daily grind. Please read this description to the end to make sure our campsites are right for you (click show more). Our Hipcamp, (owners on site), is small scale to minimise environmental impact with six sites spaced well apart for privacy with each site catering for up to two adult guests only (18+) and one vehicle. (No pets because of wildlife). Solo travelers are encouraged to book, many who have commented how much they enjoyed staying, not feeling overwhelmed by large groups or too isolated. If you are booking for others please let them know they will need to set up at their booked site. Please do not invite additional guests to enter the property. You will need to be fully self-contained: own toilet, drinking water, shower. Our Hipcamp is situated in a cool climate, away from the humidity of the coast. A highlight is beautiful permanent Flaggy Creek which meanders its way through the property for approximately 1 km and is habitat to platypus, turtles and an abundance of bird life (we are close to an ebird hotspot) with towering blue and rose gums. Take a dip on a hot day in one of several water holes including a large lagoon adjacent a mini waterfall surrounded by beautiful she-oaks. There are walks on mowed tracks around the property (look for large eastern grey kangaroos in the top paddock) including along a dam wall where you might spot herons or rainbow bee eaters (seasonally) and we can give you directions to a fire-trail to hike up to the Bluff. Herberton (10 mins) also has many excellent walking trails. All camp sites have their own fire pit (local conditions and/or state fire ban season permitting). We sell large crates of split firewood for $20 or you can collect your own. Please do not bring firewood for biosecurity reasons. During the wet season (December-April) we recommend 4WD to access the property as there is a concrete causeway creek crossing and on rare occasions this can become impassable with an extreme amount of rain but does go down very quickly once rain has eased. Please take care and go slowly on unsealed roads. Please ask for permission to fly drones.

The fireplace is set within shady trees and there is space to pull up your chairs and sit watching the waterfall. Sitting near the fireplace you can see down over the lagoon where guests have often spotted platypus! Space is provided to set up your camp away from trees to minimise risk of falling branches and maximise sun for solar set ups. Can only accommodate 2 guests (18+) and 1 vehicle.

Camp 6 is situated on a high bank alongside Flaggy Creek. This camp site is about 50 metres from Camp 5 and is situated within a bend on the creek in an area dominated by large rose gums. Loved this hidden little gem. Beautiful drive into the property through the forrest. Suitable for my 2wd. plenty of water in the creek due to the wet season. The little waterfall was absolutely stunning and made for a great spot to cool off. Tim the host was very friendly and made me feel very welcome and safe as a solo camper. Came for 1 night, left feeling like I stayed for 3! Will definitely be back.

We stayed 2 nights in Camp 2 which offers a perfect veiw of the creek waterfall. We enjoyed the available sunlouges after a dip in the waterhole. Tim is a great host who can offer an amazing level of local information if required. He has a great balance between delivering information, assisting as required and respecting privacy. Any of the Camp sites have great offerings on this beautiful part of the world.

Beautiful and peaceful campsite. Good location for a trip to the Tablelands. Saw plenty platypus and an eel in the creek just metres from our campervan. There were wallaby's hopping around. Direction to the location was clear, friendly welcome.

Delightful slice of bush paradise

We had a wonderful two nights in a rental campervan staying at Flaggy Creek. Tim was a fantastic host, warmly welcoming us and providing in depth information about the history of the property, likely platypus locations, bush walks and local attractions. Sitting next to the creek with a drink, looking out for local wildlife (including some very cute wallabies), stargazing and soaking in the peace were some highlights. It was a special treat to be greeted by Leo the horse upon arrival too. Highly recommend a stay at Flaggy Creek - we hope to return in the future.

So peaceful and quiet. The creek meandering around the site and the many Gums is a beautiful experience to sit and enjoy or walk around and maybe have a dip! Birds galore and very private . Tim is a welcoming host and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The hosts, Tim and Shellie super friendly and met us on arrival! Such a special spot, so peaceful camping next to the creek, saw platypus and had a swim beside the small waterfall! Campsites are nicely spaced.

Quiet and peaceful spot right by the creek. Spots are so far spaced apart that it feels like you're there alone. Tim was very friendly and helpful! And please give Leo the horse a hug when you see him, he’s super sweet and all by himself. Oh and I got to the site fine using a 2WD campervan!

Such a hidden gem, very peaceful camp with only a few private sites on the property. Our site (2) was overlooking the gorgeous creek , I watched a gorgeous little platypus playing and could not get enough of the bird chorus and sittings of a large variety of birds. Tim and Shelly are amazing hosts, we will definitely be back 😀

Flaggy Creek is a relaxing and beautiful location. Camping on the creek and seeing platypuses in their natural habitat was just amazing. The owners Tim & Shell do a wonderful job of maintaining the grounds for their visitors to enjoy. We would definitely recommend staying at Flaggy Creek 10/10.

Flaggy Creek was a beautiful place to camp. Peaceful and quiet surrounds with lots of birdlife. We enjoyed exploring the trails closeby to the property. Camp-sites are also a good distance from each other for privacy and also nice and level. Tim and Shelley were welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts. Hope to stay again in future. Highly recommend!

What a lovely peaceful place to spend some down time. Yet is was close enough to Herberton, Atherton and waterfalls for day trips. Tim was a great host. We booked to stay 3 nights and ended up staying 5 nights. Would highly recommend Flaag Creek.

Bush Camping with Creek Views

We loved camping at Flaggy Creek campsite #1. Before booking, we checked with Tim whether our big rig could fit. We took it easy through the gates, but once in the site was roomy and relatively flat. It is a natural bushland setting. We had water views of the creek, endless wood for the campfire and sun for charging the batteries. It is a good base to explore the surrounding area and very peaceful going to sleep at night with the gentle sound of the creek falling over the rocks. Thank you Tim for having us stay on your property.

Excellent camping spot. Better than a crowded caravan park. If you are self contained with everything you need it's a perfect spot with views of the hills and cane fields with plenty of shade from trees. Fire pits to use. Very quiet and peaceful.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay in a ground tent at Campsite 2. Large flat grassy site with fire pit and lovely bush views, we could hear the waterfalls, abundant bird life and enjoyed the walk around the property. Good communication. Definitely recommend.

Myself and the young lad had a great night at Flaggy Creek Camp 2. We were lucky enough to have the whole area to ourselves. Even if there had been guests in the next camp it would not have mattered as there was plenty of space between camps. We had drizzle overnight (after we went to bed) but this did not dampen our spirits. It's a truly beautiful location and we both enjoyed sitting around the campfire roasting marshmallows. Very relaxing. Tim was a fantastic host. Friendly, welcoming and full of information. He sorted out some firewood for us, enough for the night and morning. We will definitely be back.
