Flaggy Creek Caravan Camp is set on a 260 acre rural property set aside for wildlife offering a peaceful and relaxing place to escape the daily grind. Please read this description to the end to make sure our campsites are right for you (click show more). You will need to be fully self-contained: compulsory own toilet, drinking water, recommended shower. If you do not have a toilet we cannot allow you to stay. Our Hipcamp, (owners on site), is small scale to minimise environmental impact; we have six sites spaced well apart for privacy; each site catering up to two adult guests only (18+) and one vehicle. * Camp 5 permits 1 dog see Rules when booking; All other campsites strictly No Pets * Solo travelers are encouraged to book, many who have commented not feeling overwhelmed by large groups or too isolated. If you are booking for others please let them know they will need to set up at their booked site. Please do not invite additional guests to enter the property. Our Hipcamp is situated in a cool climate, away from the humidity of the coast. A highlight is beautiful permanent Flaggy Creek which meanders its way through the property for approximately 1 km and is habitat to platypus, turtles and an abundance of bird life (we are close to an ebird hotspot) with towering blue and rose gums. Take a dip on a hot day in one of several water holes including a large lagoon adjacent a mini waterfall surrounded by beautiful she-oaks. There are walks on mowed tracks around the property (look for large eastern grey kangaroos in the top paddock) including along a dam wall where you might spot herons or rainbow bee eaters (seasonally) and we can give you directions to a fire-trail to hike up to the Bluff. Herberton (10 mins) also has many excellent walking trails. All camp sites have their own fire pit (local conditions and/or state fire ban season permitting). We sell large crates of split firewood for $20 or you can collect your own. Please do not bring firewood for biosecurity reasons. During the wet season (December-April) we recommend 4WD to access the property as there is a concrete causeway creek crossing and on rare occasions this can become impassable with an extreme amount of rain but does go down very quickly once rain has eased. Please take care and go slowly on unsealed roads. Please ask for permission to fly drones.

Camp 1 is situated on a high bank alongside Flaggy Creek and is about 15 metres from Camp 2. The fireplace is set within shady trees and there is space to pull up your chairs and sit watching the waterfall. Camp 3 is situated on a high bank alongside Flaggy Creek and is about 15 metres from Camp 2 and Camp 4. Sitting near the fireplace you can see down over the lagoon where guests have often spotted platypus! Camp 6 is situated on a high bank alongside Flaggy Creek. This camp site is about 50 metres from Camp 5 and is situated within a bend on the creek in an area dominated by large rose gums. Camp 5 is situated in a large site surrounded by Blue Gums within a stone's throw from the creek causeway crossing. Space is provided to set up your camp away from trees to minimise risk of falling branches and maximise sun for solar set ups. Can only accommodate 2 guests (18+) , 1 dog and 1 vehicle. This site allows 1 dog only which must be kept on a leash or restricted by fencing to the campsite at all times and please bring your own bags etc and remove all dog waste. Please note the native paralysis tick which can be fatal for dogs is present in Fnq. There is a track we will show you where you can walk your dog on a leash but cannot be taken anywhere else on the property which will include any parts of the creek. Being on a leash is as much for protection of wildlife as it is for the chance you are likely to lose your dog if it chases an animal. We are trialing this to see if we can accommodate guests who live on the road with their dog while trying to give priority of place to wildlife thanks.

Camp 2 is situated on a high bank alongside Flaggy Creek and is about 15 metres from Camp 1 and Camp 3. You can see down into the creek from near the fireplace under a huge shady she-oak tree. My son and I spent 5 lovely days at Flaggy Creek camping ground. We walked up and down the creek spending many hours viewing platypus, including witnessing courting behaviour, watching a platypus swim through the causeway pipes and down the waterfall and climb out of the water onto a log to have a scratch. Tim was very friendly and ensured our stay was pleasant. We walked to The Bluff to see the amazing view back towards the Atherton Tablelands. We did some birdwatching and saw some Red-backed Fairy Wrens and a Kingfisher amongst other birds. We had such a relaxing time while enjoying nature and will definitely be back.

Flaggy Creek is a beautiful spot to spend a few nights at. Not many people get the chance to see a Platypus in it's natural habitat and I'm extremely happy we got that chance. Leo the horse popped over for a quick visit trying to suss out if we had any food left out, he was met with some gentle pats. Tim and his partner are a fantastic host - incredibly polite, responsive and well-mannered all round. Will definitely be coming back in the future to try and get some good Platypus pics!

Flaggy Creek is an absolute hidden gem on the Atherton Tablelands, peaceful, private, and surrounded by stunning bushland with a beautiful creek perfect for a swim. The sites are spacious with fire pits, the wildlife is incredible, keep an eye out for platypus, and the off grid setup means total tranquility. Best of all, the bloke who runs the place, Tim, was super nice, genuinely welcoming, helpful, and clearly passionate about the property. If you are fully self contained and after a true FNQ bush escape, this place is an absolute must visit.

This is a fabulous spot and we extended by a night despite the cool weather. There are half a dozen sites well spaced along the creek, which is gorgeous with a little waterfall that you could sit under and a resident platypus further upstream. The creek has steep banks so you need to walk a few hundred metres around to the other side if you want access. You need to drive slowly in to the camp as it’s a narrow gravel road. We were a bit nervous in our 20’ van but was not a problem. Would come back again later in the season when it’s warmer because we are from a hot climate and a max of 20° is too cold for us lol. Tim is a great host who has worked hard to rehibilate this stretch of creek that the camps sit on. The sites are large and private and offer the opportunity to see a Patypus in its native habitat. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet and the opportunity to sit by a fire and enjoy it. Thanks Tim.

Great campsite, next to a creek. Access to the campsite was by unsealed road, but our 2WD rental motorhome managed the track with ease. There are many short walks around the property, mostly along mown pathways. Absolute highlight of our visit was to see two platypus feeding on the surface of the water. Tim is the perfect host. We really enjoyed our stay.

A beautiful, peaceful campground nestled among towering gum trees. The abundant birdlife, crystal-clear dark skies perfect for stargazing and spotting satellites, and the chance to see a platypus in the creek make this a truly special place. We were fortunate enough to have the campground entirely to ourselves, making our weekend escape even more relaxing. Site 5 is the only dog-friendly campsite, and with the resident platypus in the creek, it’s easy to understand and appreciate why. It’s a tranquil little retreat that we would happily return to

We had such a lovely stay at Flaggy Creek Campgrounds. The campsite was incredibly private and peaceful, with the beautiful creek line right at our doorstep, the perfect place to relax and unwind. Tim was so informative, welcoming, and genuinely kind, which made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. You can really tell he cares about creating a great experience for guests. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back again!

We camped at site 6 with our camper trailer. It was away from the other sites which were right next to each other. Stunning location with beautiful gums and a running creek. Great walking. Tim was amazing and the wood you can purchase is greatly appreciated.

Camp site 6. Very large private site. Beautiful running creek through the property, managed to catch a glimpse of a platypus early morning. 19ft caravan with plenty of level space and area to turn around, all sites have firepits, well worth a stay.
