The property is largely flat with a hill on the Eastern side and a ridgeline at the very back of the property. There are plenty of cleared open areas as well as a mix of lightly treed and native vegetation. Site one and two are located on the hillside looking west to Mount Cooroy and are best suited for couples. The Cooke Family welcomes you to “Hopevale”. A beautiful 113 acre property bordered by Wrattens National Park at the edge of the world in the peaceful Widgee district of greater Gympie. Jason, a landscaper by trade, and Jacinta a teacher by profession, met many years ago at a national Christian youth conference. Four beautiful children later and many years down the track, they bought Hopevale as a blank cattle fattening property in 2018. After much hard work, they have made it what it is today, with plans to continually improve. We have different camp options available, one of which is set up for those guests also wanting to stay with horses or just have a larger group booking. Guests will have access to a toilet and shower throughout their stay which is within walking distance from each of the campsites. Campfires and pets are welcome. The property has only had 4 farming owners in its 110 odd years since it was first surveyed and selected in 1915. The Hillcoats, Bishops, Cotters, and now the Cooke’s. The families over the years have used the property for timber getting, dairy, beef and small cropping. The property is geologically rich with volcanic soils, sandstone escarpments full of caves and overhangs. The mighty Wrattens Falls sits to the back of the property in the National Park and is a sight to behold in full flow. It feeds the head waters of the western branch of Widgee Creek which meanders through the property. The subtropical dry rainforest clad mountains are dominated by the majestic Bunya and Hoop pines and are a testament to what once was covering the entire property before being cleared for farming. Remnant riparian creek lines are botanically rich and diverse holding Red and White Cedar, Teak, Silky oak and many other coveted timber trees harvested back in the day. There are many species of animals and birds that call Hopevale home. From water dragons, frogs and fish in the creeks, monitors, wallabies, deer, koalas, possums and phascogales in the eucalypts. We have 69 acres within the Barambah Wine Trail (which is located in Moffatdale, near Murgon, QLD). Our property backs onto the Bjelke Petersen Dam. Our property offers direct access to Lake Barambah from your large grassy campsite. You can enjoy uninterrupted views of the lake while relaxing around your camp fire. The lake itself is wide and deep, and safe for swimming (properly supervised) and all your favourite water activities. There is also basic access to launch small boats. We had a huge area to ourselves, so very private. We were able to let our dog roam. It was very peaceful. In the evening the cicadas did a Mexican wave 😂 We could have swam in the lake but I wasn’t brave enough, other campers did and it sounded as though they had a ball. Good place to bring a kayak or canoe. The compost toilet was as expected but not too horrible. Lime is used to keep the flies away.

Great spot, fantastic dam for swimming and a paddle with free kayak use. Love the jetty and boat shed! Beautiful grassed campground but be prepared to do some leveling if you are in a caravan on some sites. Can't comment on toilet's as we are self contained so didn't use those facilities.

Such a gorgeous spot!! We had an incredible time camping at site 2, plenty of space from other campers! The toilets were flush toilets, with running handwashing water and soap, very clean! Our dog had the best time watching all the activity, going for leash free walkies on the hiking trail and having nice big swims in the dam! We also had fun with the complimentary kayaks! Owner is super nice and welcoming! This will definitely be our family camping spot from now on!

Noosa RV camp was absolute paradise. The land itself is so beautiful - a woodland of eucalyptus trees next to a pond and horse pasture where you can spot kangaroos! The land is complete with a kitchen (small fridge, sink with town water, and stovetop), a lovely private outdoor shower, and a firepit & firewood. Ian was generous, responsive, and so helpful in every way - a perfect host! His dog is also the sweetest!! We wish we could have spent more time there, and we would return in a heartbeat.

We really enjoyed camping at Habitats. The check in and staff were very friendly and it was extremely easy. It is a very safe campsite with so much nature. Our kids loved watching and listening to all the animals around. The water was great and as we enjoyed paddling around the lake. All of the amenities were clean and it was great to try the beers at the bar. We had a huge amount of rain on our second night and our site in the Gums area held up well although we did see a lot of puddles around other sites. Some of the other sites also looked quite close to each other so if you aren’t afraid to walk further to the amenities and water I would recommend booking in The Gums area.
