Enjoy a convenient and relaxing base to discover the best of Hervey Bay at our 150-acre cattle grazing farm located just 3km outside of town, with plenty of space for campers. To access the farm, turn right off the Maryborough Highway into Chapel Rd, then turn right at the picnic table beside the bikeway, and do not drive over the cattle grid. We offer numerous camping sites on cleared land lined by trees, near to our gully and seasonal creek. Each site is private and offers plenty of space. Campers must be self-contained with their own camp toilet, but there is a 24/7 dump station just 2km away.
A stone's throw from the campsites is access to the mobility corridor/bike path, which takes you straight into Hervey Bay and continues all the way past the shops to Urangan pier, offering 15km of ocean frontage to explore.
Our farm is located about 2.5km from both hospitals (private and government) for any care that you may need. All specialists and consulting facilities are very convenient.
Next door to the campsites is our fantastic local cafe, The Depot Espresso Bar, open at 6 in the morning. They're happy to take orders for our campers from 5:30 if you knock! It's perfect for hopping on your bike from camp, grabbing your morning caffeine fix, and continuing on the day's biking adventure.
Campfires are permitted, but please BYO firepit, and there is plenty of fallen timber you are welcome to collect and split yourself. Pets are welcome too!
Kids under 5 stay free and don't need to be included in the booking group count. Check-in is welcome after 9 am and you can depart anytime.

Paperbark Camp is a perfect pit stop on your way to and from the Island or for a getaway from city life. The campground is located close to the road so you will hear passing cars traveling to and from River Heads.
We have a large communal campfire, sticks from the paddock can be collected, and firewood can be purchased on site.
Paperbark Camp and Farm Stay offers our guests the opportunity to pat and feed our farm animals. You are also welcome to explore the camp area with our dam and lovely bush surrounds where you will find hidden treasures amongst the trees and camp ground.
On our farm, we have lots of quirky chickens (who lay the most delicious eggs), our beautiful horses, pet dogs, sheep, pigs, ducks, chickens and miniature goats!
You are only a very short drive from shops, beaches and attractions.
The following shops are only 5kms away- Foodworks, Chemist Warehouse, Dentist ,Dr Surgery, Airport, BP Petrol Station, Bottle-Shop, Hairdressers.
Take a very short walk to the Pir'ri Reserve Walking Track where you can do a spot of bird watching or simply enjoy a stroll on the rustic bush tracks.
Beautiful calm swimming beaches are only a 9km drive away. You may also like to visit our huge pier at Urangan, or take a walk along the bike path which stretches 17kms along the waterfront. You will also find a shopping centre with Woolworths in this area and other specialty shops (post office and retail). Plenty of takeaway available- KFC, McDonalds, Golden Chicken, River Heads Cafe for breakfast and lunch daily and pizza three nights a week and restaurants in the vicinity.
River Heads where K’Gari Fraser Island barge leaves from is 7.5km from our camp and you are welcome to leave your vehicles parked up for a small fee.

Fire pits and picnic areas make the sites perfect for evening relaxation with bird life and jumping fish, talking about the day's fishing or eating the day's crab catch.
Limited firewood is sometimes available. It can be bought at a reasonable price about 9km along the road towards Burrum Heads..
Campers must be self-contained with their own toilet and shower and need to remove their rubbish. Particularly suitable for RVs and caravans with own toilet.
Well suited for overnight travelers passing between Maryborough and Bundaberg, or others needing a few days rest, fishing or water activities.
Sandflies are a problem in this region anywhere near water, in the mornings until about 9am and in the evenings after about 3:30pm, so bring plenty of repellent and apply early and often.
Sites are 30-40 metres apart with a maximum of 8 vehicles and their occupants in the whole property. No overcrowding!
Looking for a special breakfast or brunch? Try Goody’s on the Beach, a 3-minute drive away at Toogoom for great waterside dining or Arkarra Gardens, 10 minutes away for a tropical rainforest dining experience.
Pricing: Basic booking is for a vehicle with caravan, or an RV, and 2 people. What a great spot, choice between real bush camping that feels miles away or a more open area with plenty of sun. Fun meandering tracks down to the "hidden" creek. Although the creek was normally crystal clear it was not quite swimmable but we all had a great time cruising around in the kayaks. We were the only ones there and it was very peaceful.
Firepits supplied, with the option to purchase wood. Suprising amenities a very cool little outdoor shower and the drop toilets.
Kids loved the playground and feeding the chooks scraps.

We loved our 3 night stay. Good space between sites allowing privacy. Relocatable offground firepits at provided for each site. Very helpful and friendly hosts. Overall we highly recommend this HipCamp.

We were the only ones there this week im guessing because as it was raining on and off. It was great. The grounds were prefect even with all the rain. All the facilities are made well. Personally I hate a drop toilet but it was really clean and not smelly at all. The hosts are really great too. Very friendly and helpful. We were arriving. In the dark and Janita actually made a short video for us to show us exactly where to go once we got there. Amazing communication. We will definitely be back.

Directions were clear. Other campers were close for powered sites but scarce for unpowered. It was very quiet except for road noises from busy roundabout approx 700m away but manageable. Staff were brilliant. Great for base camp. Watch out for roos in the early morning.

I've been trying several camping sites in Herveybay and no other places exceeded the satisfaction I get from Rosgrow farm. And that's why I have to keep coming back. Every time I come back, it gets even better with Greg's ongoing caring of his beautiful farm. I love his thoughts on how to make it even better.

I loved the camping spot on site 14 at River Run Farm Stay, there was a beautiful view and so much room the kids had so much fun feeding the animals and doing the slide ( of cause the big kids did too) we will definitely be back.

We had such a great stay! The hosts were super friendly and made everything easy from the get-go. The spot is beautiful waking up by the river and catching the sunset each night was just magic. The kids had an absolute blast running around, and it felt really safe so we could actually relax too. We’ll 100% be back!

My family loved camping at River Run Farm. The kids loved feeding the animals, slip and slide and the toad hunt, which was the biggest hit! It was nice and open so they could go biking. My son LOVED the bmx track they had. The communal kitchen area was quite handy to have, it was well stocked for things to use and clean. We will be returning soon!

Where to go
Central Station
Set inland, 20 minutes west of Eurong Beach Resort, and surrounded by rainforest, campers staying in Central Station can have a great walk along the banks of the freshwater Wanggoolba Creek and through the lush rainforest. Flora and fauna you may come across include the rare king fern Angiopteris evecta, which has the largest fern fronds in the world, as well as turtles and eels, and you’ll also be within easy access of Lake McKenzie, a popular swimming spot. The camping area, typically one of the island’s busiest, is surrounded by dingo-deterrent fence.
Waddy Point
On the island’s northeast coast, Waddy Point offers both beachfront (unfenced) and inland (fenced) camping areas with coin-operated hot showers and picnic tables, as well as capacity for camper trailers. Making Waddy Point your base puts you within easy access of some of the island’s top attractions, including the coastal headland of Indian Head (a good spot for watching dolphins and whales) and the rock pools filled with bubbling water known as the Champagne Pools. You’ll also find plenty of opportunities for fishing, kayaking, and hiking.
Dundubara
Dundubara is located in the middle of the 75-Mile Beach scenic drive on the east coast, halfway between Indian Head and the rusting S.S. Maheno shipwreck, which ran aground in 1935. You’re also within easy reach of Eli Creek, a popular freshwater swimming spot with a long boardwalk. Camping is available in a large fenced-in area behind great sand dunes and it's one of the few camping sites on the island that allows campfires.
Lake Boomanjin
Along the Southern Lakes scenic drive, the distinctly red-hued Lake Boomanjin offers a peaceful setting and opportunities for swimming and kayaking. The secluded lake is typically far less visited than Lake McKenzie, the island’s other famed perched lake. You can camp right by the lake at the fenced-in camping area with picnic tables and surrounded by forest: note that it is walk-in camping only, so there's no vehicle access to the tent sites.
