Colonial Village Resort

Just a one nighter . Super windy when we hit town so we were grateful the camp spot was so protected . Powered site was right near the pool which was great . Great amenities , loved the wildlife . Easy check in . There is a bit of road noise but quickly drowned out by the epic storm .

Best powered site we have ever been

Absolutely beautiful grounds. We were surrounded by lush green vegetation, poinciana’s sheltered our camp site. We had 6 Guinea fowl come by our site daily, 2 peacocks roaming and 2 ducks. Powered sites have some bushes between them which gave some privacy. Absolutely loved our stay that we’ve actually extended it by another 2 nights. Highly recommend and will come back for sure!

Booked this last minute and after reading recent reviews it was ...as expected - the communication was ... selective - very clear on how to pay the key deposit but not very clear on where to set up or replying to any other questions - over all - its quirky and cool just be careful where you step and park and yes the spa is cold and the pool Is ew - but there was at least one fancy feathered peacock and some other cool surprises - you can walk to dinner and entertainment as well as a good yabby pumping spot and a nice rock wall walk next to a harbour - didn't catch anything but a bit of a tan 🤣 - Harvey Bay is Pretty cool around each coasty turn

Lovely weekend away

We had a powered site and it was lovely and quiet. Would be a bit of a walk to the pool if you had kids but for a quiet weekend away, it was lovely.

No fuss campsite that's welcoming for dogs and boats. Friendly reception staff and clean and tidy bathrooms. We stayed at an unpowered campsite (site 4) which is close to the pond and pool. Large enough site to park car boat and a 10 man tent. Not allocated sites as you share site 4 with other campers, so get there in time to pick your spot. Close to a dog off leash area and the Esplanade is on cycling distance. The camp site has some lovely birdlife with the resident peacock showing off his feathers. Close to the busy road, so not a serene and quiet spot, but comfortable enough.

Site 3 - Colonial Village Powered Van Sites

I write this with the best intention as I do believe once apon a time this was a lovely camp site. But it definitely needs some love. The pool area really needs some attention (especially the “spa”). The spa was cold, black at the bottom and the pool had green patches on the floor. I know we weren’t the only people to find this area a real disappointment. We picked this site purely because it had a pool, but we dare swim in it. There is sign of a bar, pool table etc but nothing was open and it all looked very tired. Where the electric point plots are there is a shack which has a dirty old sink and some very dirty and broken chairs around a table. I wanted to wash my dishes here, but it’s was filthy and only had cold water. Instead of using the pool we decided to go and play bat n ball on the tennis courts. However, we took one look and thought there’s no way we could play amongst the leaves. The best part about this site is the Peacocks and little turtles. Other than that, the photos on the internet do not reflect the site today at all. The site needs a lot of love and some money spending on it. Everywhere was just a little too tired.

Trying to think of the positives. Good location close to Marina and some shops. Toilets clean. Lovely Peacocks in park. BUT Old, run down and poorly maintained. There's a tennis court but you couldn't play on it with all the crap on the court. There's a bistro & bar; but oh they are closed. Don't even think to arrive before 2pm, no one there and after hours phone not answered. Caravan grey water flows from Neighbour a site. Trees not pruned and touching van. Had to go to caravan wash to clean all the crap off the van. May suit some but not us.

The facilities are old and not tidy. If the youth hostel as well. And so there is a lot of traffic in the morning to use the showers and a lot of people in the evening waiting to use the laundry facilities. But the powered Sites are cute and separated from each other by bushes, giving you a bit more privacy than many caravan parks. If you're not going to use the laundry or the showers, it was a really good Park.

The location was great but caravan site 3 could be improved. The trees should be trimmed to allow better access on the site as they overhang too much. Sullage is also an issue as the ground can get very boggy. As we had a long stay 2 weeks the dump point became an issue as it is a long drive to the info centre. I suggest that a deal could be done with a nearby caravan park to allow access to their dump point even if their was a cost involved.

Unfortunately we were not told until after checking in that they had over booked the powered van sites. The site we booked was already taken and we were given a site that had no sun and under large trees. We left early as the site was wet (from no sun all day) Won't go back

Great for a stopover or longer term

Spent one night in the tent site, very pleasant, full use of kitchen, laundry, toilets and showers. Very impressed with the shower block, showers were spot on after 5 days of roughing it on Fraser Island. All facilities clean, grounds were nice with the pond, Peacock’s and resident Rooster. Only downside was that the washing machine swallowed coins.

The facilities were really outdated and hard to access with key system. we thought it would be a small privately owned place but it was more of a caravan park. Location was good and beautiful gardens. Ground surface very muddy as resent rain fall, poor drainage. Lots of older people staying long term. Poor reception/help accessibility.

Nice spot for budget travelers visiting Hervey Bay. We came with a car and used one of the unpowered campsites. Nothing flashy but had all the necessities (toilets, showers, kitchen).

Lovely quiet dog friendly stay

Nice and quiet. Pool is nice. Very bushy with the Peacocks as a lovely novelty. Very aged but comfortable. Mens showers aren’t great as have a shower curtain but ladies is much better. Very close to the marina and off leash dog beach.

Site 3 - Colonial Village Camping - Tents

This was my first stay at Colonial Village Resort and I would definitely recommend it. The place had a lovely peacefulness to it. It was very quiet, with the exception of birds and peacocks talking to each other. We loved the pool and enjoyed the nearby walking paths and public transport was very close.

Situated adjacent to two roads would not normally put me off, but we had yobbo’s racing on both of them late into the night. Also, the kitchen facilities were an absolute disgrace with scraps of food all over. The toilets were fine considering. The pool area was nice except for the backpackers hanging around all day not leaving much space for families.
