The site is approximately 14 metres clear/elevated from the river (which makes it very safe if the river was to rise above minor or moderate flooding). A truly unique camping experience overlooking the wide spanse of the Clarence only a short distance from the small village of Copmanhurst, perfect for a group booking of up to 20. Enjoy your own private site with a sandy beach @40m below site, east of the Copmanhurst boat ramp. Take a walk down the steepish soft sandy cattle tracks to the waters edge and enjoy yourself. Also if you want adventure for bush walks and waterfalls to National parks (Border ranges and Nightcap National park, just over an hour away) The town offers all the big retail supermarkets (Woolworths, Coles and Aldi), take away food, Rsm and Golf club and several pubs as well as some lovely family parks for the children to skate and play. Dylans Park View is pet friendly and offers an off leash dog run. When not in the dog run, all dogs need to be on a leash. There is also a couple of swings for the children to play on whilst the adults sit back and relax. Firepit and firewood provided Located just off of the Bruxner Hwy, with easy access for off grid camping. There are no showers or toilets, so your camping needs to be fully self sufficient. A camp kitchen with BBQ (Gas bottle supplied when requested) Table, chairs, fold down outside table, hammock, book swap and games. Camps need to be kept clean of litter and all camp rubbish to be taken with you when leaving the campsite. There are a couple of recycling bins at the camp for cans and bottles.

Phil is a great guy with a beautiful property. He was really friendly and cool to chat to but laid back and easy going. The space is so big that you can easily find a private spot to your liking. The mozzies are hardcore but not a problem if you bring some heavy duty bug repellent. There were a few other people camping as it was peak season during summer holidays but we felt secluded in our own beautiful temporary home in nature… will definitely be coming back!

Oh my god. Mosquito central! Phil the host is so lovely, and we really enjoyed staying here but man we were not prepared for the influx of the mozzies. None of our heavy duty repellants cut the mustard, and even our super smoky fires only staved them off for a little bit. We tried to go for a fish at the creek but could only last 10-20 minutes before driven out with bugs. One of our dogs broke out in a huge bumpy rash from them, and you could see a black cloud of them following the dogs everywhere even with repellant on them. We are avid campers, but have never experienced this level of them before. Mozzies aside, the camp site was so pretty. Lovely and flat, with beautiful bushlands around. The more private sites are towards the bushland, otherwise you’re very exposed. The camp was very well maintained and it’s clear Phil puts a lot of effort into this place. There was chopped up wood and limbs all over for firewood and he was more than happy for our pups to run off lead. The camp horse is also incredibly friendly and has to be one of the most tolerant horses I have ever met… not even tilting an ear at our boisterous dogs. We definitely would stay here again, just not any time at all near mosquito season!

Awesome spot close to Grafton. It is quite literally on the side of the highway so yes there is noise... Unfortunately the sites are squashed up in the end corner and are definitely too close together as we were the first ones there and got boxed in by other vehicles/caravans. Beaware if you are planning on leaving early to either leave your car hooked up or give yourself enough room to hitch back up onto. Otherwise great spot and fair price. John was a great host who went above and beyond.

This place had some of the best kept grounds I have ever seen at any Hipcamp. The lawns were mowed to perfection. Perfectly level grounds and so much room to spread out for privacy. If you are looking for a private, extremely quiet and peaceful place to unwind, wet a line or just enjoy wide open spaces, this is it. Kangaroos visit at dawn and dusk, along with a very friendly horse. Dogs are welcome too.

When to go

The water is warm enough for swimming from September through April. Jacaranda season is late spring, with a jacaranda festival in early November. The Maclean Highland Gathering takes places in April, featuring Scottish games, music, and dancing. Yamba’s prawns are perfect year-round, and with so many beaches to choose from, there’s always good surf nearby.

Know before you go

Yamba is a 7-hour drive north on the Pacific Highway from Sydney, or about a 3-hour drive south of Brisbane along the same coastal route.
Several local surfing schools offer kayak hires and surf lessons, including the Yamba-Angourie Surf School, where three-time Australian surfing champion Jeremy Walters shows newbies the ropes.
The cliff-top Pacific Hotel is a fantastic spot for a sundown drink with a phenomenal view. This spot also does good pub bistro classics and usually has live music on summer weekends.
Among the best places in Yamba to buy prawns is the Prawn Shack, run by the Clarence River Fishermens' Co-op at the Yamba Marina. The seafood comes straight from the fishing trawlers, and you can’t get much fresher than that.
