We looked for alternative ways of living 6 years ago so we purchased 220 acres to build an off grid camping/eco resort. The property consists of a straw bale house, Tipis, Cottages, 5 stars shared facilities (hot showers, flushing toilets - disable toilet ), outdoor kitchen (gas bbq, pizza oven, all kitchen utensils, pots ), solar system and worm farm septic system. The facilities of the camping are quite luxurious some guests labelling them "better than at home" so you can enjoy the bush experience & still have the comfort of a home. Here you can discover amazing wildlife such as kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, cockatoos, lyre birds and a lot of other birds (designated bird drinking stations through a WIRES program which has a lot of success.) Bring a camera and take in the incredible sights such as wildlife, cliffs, caves, and a magical view of Mount Yengo and Moruben from the top of the property. They are designated walking tracks around the property with all variable lengths & difficulties. This property is a Pristine Riverfront property in Colo Valley. It is a tidal river with sandy shallow sandbars and 10ft deep swimming holes. There is an abundance of native animals here including kangaroos, lyre birds, lace monitors, platypus and more! Access is via a short dirt driveway to the riverfront camping area. The access is 2wd unless there has been significant rain it becomes 4wd access.We can accommodate both small and large groups with sites just steps away from the river. We have 2 water entrances, one is a large grassed area with shallow water which is great for kids & families. The other entrance is a natural sandy entry with a deeper swimming area suitable for adults. We also have a beautiful lagoon area where I can arrange additional campers. We have built some new flushing toilets (3) with a hot water shower.We are very accommodating of your pets. We welcome dogs and can host horses in one of the paddocks. Please ensure you contact the host prior to your stay if you are bringing any animals. We have canoes & floats which you can hire to paddle up the river. Additional activities here include fishing, swimming, bushwalking, canoeing & birdwatching. Dharawal Camp offers all the benefits of glamping. Enjoy a peaceful night's rest in your tent/vehicle, then hop out of bed and enjoy the peaceful surrounds of the cabin with access to a kitchen area supplying rainwater. With the secluded bush surroundings and the quiet, it's hard to believe you're only an hour away from Sydney. You might even see a Koala There is strictly no accomodation in the Cabin. The camp features a camping toilet and bathing facilities, gas bbq, a kitchen washing area, NO FRIDGE, a recreation space and dining table when the weather is bad. All you need to do is roll out your swag. Campers are encouraged to take their rubbish with them. There is access to power for campervans/caravans. Warm your toes at the outdoor fireplace whilst you chat with friends. (Please bring own firewood). You will be a 10 minute drive from the beautiful Dharawal National Park which has wonderful swimming holes and bush walks. The site is 15 minutes drive from Campbelltown, which offers all amenities of a large metropolitan city.

Update: access road is now sealed. Melon Green welcomes self contained caravans and /or motorhomes. Lovely grassy farm on a 15 acre block. A quick 15 minute drive into Picton where you can find our local club and shops. Short drive to Nattai lookout overlooking Warragamba water catchment. Spectacular view. Also Thirlmere Lakes. Nearby Camden township restaurants, cafes, pool, bike track along Nepean River and more. We are located approximately 1 hour from Sydney airport so a day in the city is not out of the question. Shopping malls a short distance away. We have 4 horses, two dams, nice outlook, Clean tank water is available and picnic table can be provided. Please note we can no longer offer bathroom facilities. As we have horses, dogs must be on a leash. Campfires are welcome in the fire pit.

4 nights at Melon Green at Oakdale

Melon Oak is a peaceful campsite with the loveliest host. Only an hour from Sydney airport and you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere with barely a soul insight. Close by, Picton is a charming little town with cute cafe’s and an ice creamery. As always, pack the mozzie repellent!

Absolutely loved our weekend there. There was another group at the same time but the setup meant we couldn’t hear anything whatsoever. Right by the river which was nice. Got a decent shower, thunder and lightening on the first night and the ground still held up absolutely fine. Lisa had some big tables and even a bbq available to use which was a lovely bonus.

Our first time camping with the kids and we had a great time. The cabin with drinking water and toilet/shower was very convenient and very useful for storing things. Outdoor pizza oven was a big success. Was great to find a camp site so close to Sydney where we could also take our dogs. A short drive to the national park where we enjoyed hiking with the kids to the Minerva Pool.

3 nights at Dharawal Camp

Such a quiet place, the cabin was handy and had games, a ping pong table, electricity, a shower, toilet, fire pit, outdoor wood stove and hot water. Plenty of space for two tents, a swag and a 3x3m gazebo, 4 adults, 2 kids and a dog. The owner even come down to say hello and then left us alone for the rest of our trip. Was close enough to major shops but far enough away that you felt like you were in the middle of nowhere.

We had the best long weekend here. Our group of 10 friends plus a Labrador puppy enjoyed the super well setup campsite with a well organised campfire area and extra smooth and flat camping area. The hut with power, running (hot) water, clean compost toilet, a gas bbq, pizza oven, ping pong table and cooking basics made life super comfortable and easy and David was lovely too. This is probably our favourite campsite ever.

We had a great time camping at Shady Acres. Lisa was great and very helpful. There was plenty of space, and lots of firewood available which we really appreciated. The river was lovely for a swim. We loved the sounds of the birds in the morning. The location was easy to find in the daylight but a little tricky to find at night time. We would definitely recommend!

Great spot that isn't a million miles fr9m Sydney, yet it is far enough away to make you forget the stresses of the week. Lyndall was a lovely host, site was neat and tidy and firewood was a major bonus. Suitable if your set up / rig is large. Mobile reception is sketchy but it does exist.

3 nights at Dharawal Camp

We were a group of 5 friends with a dog and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dharawal Camp. The cabin is great shelter from the rain but is cold, bringing indoor sandals is recommended. The kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of bowls, plates, cups, and mugs. There are some cooking utensils but no pots or pans. There was no fridge but there were 2 decent sized eskies available. Plenty of space for cooking, storage, and hanging out. There is hot water on all taps and the drop toilet is set up well.

Great little getaway for short or long. We did a weekend away and absolutely had a blast. Being so close had almost 3 full days. Having the house to prep food, table tennis and bathroom amenities makes cleaning the kids easy. Nice bush walks, small river to see and plenty of birds around. Pizza Oven was on key for us. Recommend and will be back.

Weekend Trip to Wanderlust Retreat

Such a lovely property. The facilities were the best I’ve ever seen at a campsite, the staff were lovely and it was fantastic being surrounded by wildlife (kangaroos, wallabies, birds), the ducks, the chooks and the neighbouring cows. Super easy to find and pretty accessible, I drove in in an AWD but reckon you could get in with something as small as a Polo. It was so peaceful and lush and the trails at the end of the property were really cool and had some informative signs up. Nice big camp sites, would definitely recommend and come again! No reception with Optus/Vodafone but there is free WiFi available near the reception / amenities block. My dog loved the property too!

Group of friends in 5 caravans, Area easily accommodated us all with space to spare. Lovely flat green space right next to the river. Didn't swim this time as it was middle of winter but the group consensus was it would be fabulous in the summer and we plan to return. Toilets and showers on site were a great touch. Host Lisa was flexible and easy to communicate with. Hope to return soon.

We had such a great time at this place. We couldn't believe we were only 15 minutes from Campbelltown, it was so peaceful and secluded. The humpy was really convenient, especially for a place to wash up and play games with the kids. Will absolutely be coming back.
