Top shelf spot, top shelf host. Craigview is well situated, not too far from Tenterfield (but far enough), to make the perfect stop when traveling down from QLD. It’s a beautiful property with lots of granite around, and well cared for, well spaced, mown sites. I had 4G (Telstra). Brad immediately made me feel welcome, super friendly and helpful. Will 100% be back. Thanks Brad!

What a beautiful spot to stay, The view was amazing and peaceful, Bradley was such a nice Bloke helpful & pointed us in the right direction to all the tourist spots to take in on our stay, Also making sure we where enjoying our stay & making sure we had plenty of fire wood. There is so much to see & do in the area, After that come back to camp sit back & relax in private country setting. This is the second time we have stayed at Glen Dawn and we had another amazing trip, previously we have stayed just four of us and loved it. This time there was 6 adults and 4 kids, we all had a blast, hot shower, plenty of room to set tents up inside out of the weather and a beautiful space to relax in together, with a fridge, heater, huge table, massive fire pit, and even a piano…which was interesting with a three year old, he loved it, we strapped it shut at one point! 😂 Mann River is just down the road and we spend full days splashing and playing with the kids. We headed to boundary falls and mulligans hut for day trips and loved our time. Would love to come back again!

Weekend Trip to Craigview

We had a wonderful Easter weekend at Bradley’s property. Our site had beautiful views, cows, sheep and dogs who often visited and it had a lovely peaceful and relaxed feel. Bradley and his son Cody were fantastic hosts who met us on arrival and offered us the choice of two beautiful sites. They delivered firewood to us each afternoon which is a rare gesture on most Hipcamps which we were so appreciative for. We would definitely recommend Bradley’s property for anyone looking to get away from the crowds and experience real country camping and hospitality. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful views, loved our stay here, would definitely recommend!

We booked about an hour before we arrived and it wasn’t an issue at all, we were so impressed with the property . Lovely spot with great views. We would definitely stay here again for a weekend next time. Brad was lovely ! Great for a chat too 👌🏻

Such a beautiful property with an amazing outlook and views. Due to the wet weather, we couldn't get to the old yard site but the host helped us find another amazing site that was nice and private. Definitely will be back and recommend.

What an amazing place to spend a few days, no-one around other than cattle and wild life on a large spread out area that's well looked after, fire pits and some with grills to use. Excellent and clean facilities, great hot showers and always clean toilets. Amazing hosts, helpful, down to earth and friendly. Will definitely be back.

Beautiful outlook. Saw roos and heaps of birds. Sweet little creek trickling beside our spot. Friendly hosts who ensured we had enough firewood. Area was mowed before we arrived. Highly recommend for a quiet, relaxing stay.!

Down a quiet no-through road, turn off to our 100 acre bushland property. It feels like isolation but you’re still only 5 a minute drive to the famous Coutts Crossing township and Tavern where you can grab a pub feed 7 days a week. The tavern is a classic country pub with a warm ‘come as you are’ vibe with live music on the weekends! The main camping spot on our property is called Wallaby Way. Check out this 1-minute YouTube clip tour of the site https://youtu.be/LwWH-niLBX0 It's aprox 20m x 30m of mowed, flat area with a picnic table & fire pit (firewood supplied). It’s all yours, so feel free to spread out. You can drive straight through the camp site and back out to the road in a big loop making it very easy to access. Wallaby Way is 80m off the road and you will follow a 2WD track down a gentle slope, through light bush, to the site. Suitable for caravans, motor homes, smaller trucks, vans and cars. If you really want seclusion, there are more camp sites further away from the road but you'll need a 4WD/higher clearance. All campers must be self-contained. There is NO water, NO power & NO bathroom facilities. You’ll have 1 bar of Telstra 4G, but it’s patchy. It’s enough for messenger and phonecalls if you’re patient. Sorry, this is not the location for a Netflix binge! Our property is pet friendly. I ask that you control your pooch and respect the livestock and wildlife we cherish. We like to see the Wallabies and Kangaroos visit, so please don't let your dogs chase them. We also welcome horses but you’ll need to BYO yards. You may see Lauren driving her horses in the horse drawn carriage. Make sure you wave her down and say hi! They love a pat. What can I do nearby? Explore our 100 acre property right where you are, or follow the dirt road 2km from your campsite to Kukandowie Nature Reserve. Bring your hiking books because she’s rough country in there! Worth the hike to see the cliffs. The scenes from the top are breathtaking. (6 min drive) The Coutts Crossing Golf club is a well maintained 9-hole course with first glass greens. (20 mins drive) Shannon Creek Dam is a massive 30,000 megalitre water reservoir. There are BBQs for cooking, picnic tables and toilets. You are not allowed to enter the dam or fish (it’s our drinking water) but it’s amazing to see such a volume of water, that’s not the ocean! (20 min drive) I highly suggest checking out the historic South Grafton main street (Skinner Street). Lots of funky little family-owned stores and cafes, great Op-shops (check out Hope Op-Shop where you can fill a bag for $5), walk to the end of Skinner Street and sit on the Jetty overlooking the mighty Clarence River. I could spend all day in South Grafton Main Street. (17 min drive) Nymboida canoeing hire can set you up for a day on the water (flat water or whitewater), or you can BYO kayak and follow Clarence Canoe and Kayak Trail which happens to be the longest whitewater trail in Australia. The Nymboida river is also famous for it’s fishing; Bass, Cod and Trout if you know where to look 😉 What facilities are nearby? (5 min drive) Coutts Crossing main street has a well-equipped general store & take-away shop, post office, loos and a BP servo, they will also refill gas bottles (22 min drive) Shopping world in Grafton has all the main retail outlets; fashion, food, BCF, Auto shops, plus there’s woolies and coles if you need any supplies. (25 min drive) Will get you to the M1 Pacific Highway

Emu Creek Retreat

Welcome to Emu creek Retreat One of the best destinations for hiking, camping, bushwalking, swimming, Kayaking, fishing, mountain bike riding (bicycles only), bird watching, 4wdriving and even fossicking, since the old gold mining town "Lunatics" was not far away from us. Dogs, men's best friend, are definitely welcome. If travelling in a 2wd please contact us before booking, some of the campgrounds have to be reached by crossing the creeks, Girard camp is one of them where the office and the showers are, at times this crossing is under water and is only accessible by 4wd. Other campgrounds are available near the entry gate that don't require a creek crossing for access and toilets are available on some of them. One side of the property is bound by Emu Creek and the other by Gerard Creek, both creeks have enough water with some permanent deep water holes for all year activities. Sightseeing inside the property we have Girard Falls, a 50m deep waterfall, nature at it's best. The only entry into the property is by Emu Creek Rd a gravel road. Emu Creek Retreat is located in the far north-east of New South Wales. We are approximately 200 km from Brisbane, Toowoomba and Gold Coast, 150km from Byron Bay. Tabulam is the nearest town 12km away. Fuel and groceries are available at Tabulam along with a post office, pub and police station. Casino is 68km away and Tenterfield 78km. Once a working cattle property, in the 90's was converted into a camping and 4WD park. Since 2017 has been a family own and operated property, pet friendly, we are using the existing large camping grounds to convert it into a camping paradise. Two properties combined with close to 2800 acres, fronting Paddy’s Flat Rd for 2km and extends 7km to the back fence bordering a 22000 acre cattle property. The front section is undulating with plantation forest (spotted gum) and bushland, towards the back it has mountains, steep terrain and millions of trees with spectacular views and great hiking tracks.

Timbarra Valley

The Timbarra or Rocky River is an area of great beauty southeast of Tenterfield with soaring mountains cradling the river flats and undulating hills below and is a renowned cattle breeding region. The Petrie family have been in Tenterfield since 1860 and have owned properties in the valley for over 100 years. Tim’s great-grandfather was known as Rocky Jack because of his extensive holdings. Cattle are still walked up to the Timbarra Plateau property from the river properties ‘Man From Snowy River’ style. The Plateau can be seen rising above the valley to the north from the confluence of Demon Creek and the Timbarra/Rocky River. These flow along the Demon Fault which is clearly visible on a satellite map. The 3 valley properties ‘Corner Camp’, ‘Boundary’ and ‘’Pavels’ combined with ‘Timbarra Plateau’ total over 25000 acres. The whole valley was part of 2 earlier large selections averaging 100000 acres which gradually became broken up in the late 1800s/early 1990s. There is a proud timber history in the valley and the surrounding forested mountains with large sections of State Forest now transferred to Washpool National Park which abuts both the eastern and western boundaries of ‘Boundary’ (which takes its name from Boundary Creek). The National Park and Forestland State Forest can be accessed to the west via the Billirimba Fire Trail. The eastern section of Washpool stretches across to the Clarence River, the largest eastern river in NSW. Washpool is where the Cedar King went missing and was never located. The Timbarra/Rocky River flows into the Clarence at Tabulam and then on to Grafton and out to sea at Yamba. The headwaters of the Rocky are all the way south to the Glen Innes Grafton road so the river can rise quickly if there is a downpour upstream. Interestingly when the Chinese gold miners left the Timbarra Plateau they came down with rickshaws into the Timbarra Valley then scaled the mountains to the west, near Boundary Creek, looking for their next gold diggings towards Glen Innes. The Boundary campsites at Boundary Riverside, The Cockatoo, The China Wall, and the Caves are all suitable for caravans, RVs, Camping trailers, tents and swags as is Timbarra Plateau. Corner Camp and Pavels are suitable for camping trailers, tents and swags. Boundary campsites access are all unaffected if the river rises however we will not take bookings at Corner Camp or Pavels in the likelihood of the river rising as we are committed to safety and avoiding inconvenience for guests. The Rocky is a very special place and we have campers who first came as children and are now bringing their grandchildren. We expect our guests to treat the area respectfully, and only leave footprints and tyre tracks. The valley provides wonderful scenery and settings for bushwalking, birdwatching, photography, painting, bicycle riding, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding and canoeing, or just kicking back relaxing by the river, listening to the soothing sounds of the water, birds, and the turtles and platypus splashing, or being amazed at the mirror like images on the waters surface on a still day or the flickering light of a campfire at night and the stars above.

"Mindoo"

Located 19 km due east of the famous historical village of Tenterfield the working, cattle breeding, property "Mindoo" has recently opened its gates to campers. Framed by the rugged border range National Parks "Mindoo" is 1100 acres of rolling green hills dissected by the pure, cascading, waters of the Cataract River which provide a number of private riverside campsites. Campers are encouraged to meander along the continually changing River and explore its many secluded swimming holes and enjoy the abundant wildlife that cohabitates with the Angus/Wagyu cow herd. Direct access to the neighbouring National Parks and State Forests offers an array of day trips to hikers, mountain bikers, or horse riders where they can discover the natural treasures of Basket Swamp and Boonoo Boonoo Falls, Woolool Woolooni, among others. For those who require a little more comfort, and lets face it we all do at times, the Mindoo Cabin is available. Featuring three bedrooms, open plan living/dining/kitchen,and a shady deck overlooking the River the cabin sleeps eight and still allows visitors to partake in all the adventures that "Mindoo" offers with the benefit of a comfortable rest when the day is done. Unfortunately horse riding is no longer covered by our insurance policy. You are able to bring your horses, however evidence of your own insurance policy must be provided. Be as adventurous or as restful as you please as both options are freely available. Mountain Biking, Hiking, or just riding your hammock and relaxing we are sure you will enjoy your time at "Mindoo". All of our river sites are designated and are space apart. There is approximately 4km gravel road to get to the property. Mobile reception is patchy (telstra) you may need to get to the top of a hill for reception. Very little or no reception for other networks. As most of our sites are on the river and have farm tracks to access, if it is wet we may have to move you to a different site. 4wds are recommended for all sites. We would rather talk it down than up:-) ps One thing we can say you will never get bogged on our driveway no matter the rain fall as its very compacted despite its authentic rough character. There are accessible walking trails through the property with several areas of slightly sloping ground. We are a ten minute drive from Girraween National park, a popular haunt for hikers and bird and nature lovers in general. Ballandean winery and the Ballandean pub is also close, it serves affordable and wholesome dinners and there is a shop and a cafe as well as a restaurant there. The town of Jennings is a small, quirky town close to the border, with a population of about 150. Jennings is in two time zones, both QLD and NSW! There are many popular wineries in the region, three of which have wonderful restaurant meals. 13 minutes drive going south, is the much-loved federation town of Tenterfield - with appealing cafes, clothes shops, country outfitters, the famous Tenterfield Saddlery and a cinema which seats about 50, a railway museum, a stylish yet friendly Commercial Hotel for eating out and a historic café where federation was called into being by Henry Parkes. There are occasional Saturday morning markets too. A fun place to hang out! No motorbikes or hunting please. This land is for wildlife and supports wallabies, kangaroos and a variety of birds. On walks around the property you can spot various delicate purple, white, yellow and rust coloured flowers.

Redbank Farm

We have a stunning 640 acre cattle farm nestled in the hills of the Northern Tablelands, overlooking the Wellingrove Valley. Redbank has many beautiful places and things to see, including two natural gullies full of native birds and wildlife, native woodlands, four beautiful dams and wild fallow deer. Redbank also has about 140ha set aside under Biodiversity Conservation Trust. This is a "no drive" area but always open to walking. There is a map available to show where everything on the property is located. Redbank features diverse terrain, from secluded forests and woodlands to open undulating paddocks with excellent views and sunsets. A campfire is allowed, however it needs to be kept at a reasonable size, especially during fire restriction periods. Please keep the fire within the allocated fireplace provided. We provide guests with firewood. We have multiple campsites available, however we realise that you may want to be independent and camp in a unique place! We understand this, however where you wish to camp will largely depend on your vehicle, as some of our tracks are 4x4 only. Whatever you wish to do, we will be here to help you decide on the best campsite on arrival. There is access to drinking water and a toilet but you will need to bring your own shower. There are no rubbish facilities.. Pets are welcome but must be kept under your control at all times as we have cattle on the property. and we have a friendly Maremma guardian dog who can turn up unannounced. He will most probably lick you to death.

For nature lovers and bushwalkers, Boonoo Boonoo and Bald Rock National Parks are a short drive up Mt Lindesay Road. Camping areas are accessible by a normal sedan type vehicle. We want our property to provide a peaceful retreat for those using it: - no hunting, motorbikes or 4WDing permitted. We are an off grid location so campers will need to bring their own shower/toilet/water and take all rubbish out when leaving. Camping is available during Queensland School Holidays and other times as indicated in calendar.
