You have access to 100 acres of bushland or enjoy a walk along Killongbutta Road which winds its way through spectacular Wiradjuri country where ancient stone quarries, corroboree sites and a warrior’s grave have been found. Platypus, water dragons and river rats all live in the river. Be prepared to share the site with wombats who have burrowed their homes into the banks. Road access to site is suitable for 2WD in dry weather. It is a short, steep drop with two tight corners not suitable for large caravans and RVs. The site has a newly constructed long drop toilet, pets are allowed and bring your own firewood to ensure you have enough as it's becoming scarce around the site. Please take all rubbish with you. Please note: Kids under 12 are free to support young families wanting to experience the bush. Please still add them to the booking as they will not be charged. What is not allowed: shooters and trappers, illegal fishing, motor bikes, quad bikes and other noisy machines! Killongbutta Road runs off Freemantle Road and is 36 kms from Bathurst. It is 40 kilometres from Orange through Gowan Road that joins Lower Lewis Ponds Road. For your information, On the Stone is a podcast and publishing studio that produces a quarterly magazine for the Freemantle Road community. We are Marilyn and Peter, we own, live and run a mixed farming business from this beautiful land, located in the Central Tablelands NSW. The country varies between undulating and steep land and has 7 km of double frontage Bell River running through it. The river can range from rapidly flowing to the more usual steady flowing and is most often very clear. The river has numerous swimming spots, some with a rocky base, and some with sand. The winding river and the varying countryside is incredibly peaceful and beautiful and is a perfect retreat for those looking to disconnect and relax. The river has its origin near Orange and is also fed into by many springs. Weandre Creek runs in the backcountry and winds into the Bell River. Our comfortable Hut is situated on an elevated spot looking down on the river with a graduated road leading down. It has everything you need for a relaxing, recharging stay in nature. The Hut can accommodate up to 4 people, however, you also have the option for up to 6 additional guests to set up swags, tents, or a camper trailer nearby. There is space next to the Hut, or for those with a 4WD, there are some lovely camping sites down by the river. We also offer sites for those looking for a self-contained camping site, in a beautiful location. We love the solitude, the endless bush walks, swimming, and being immersed in nature. We are confident you will too. We also have a lovely art gallery on the property, and for a small fee and prior arrangement, you are welcome to come and take a look. From our farm, it is 60 km to Orange with all its wineries, food festivals, and many attractions. Wellington is 40 km and boasts the Wellington Caves. Dubbo is 90 km and is a big inland city and boasts the Western Plains Zoo. We are so glad to let you know we have a new (but intentionally rustic) structure which houses a shower powered by gas and solar with gravity fed water. Showers need to be short because water supply is limited. In a separate space is a gas BBQ and sink. This is pictured in our latest photos. This building also looks down on the Bell river which looks sensational at the moment due to all the rain.

'La Paloma' is a farm located 15 minutes from the township of Cowra and Wyangala Dam. La Paloma boasts spectacular views down the valley and of surrounding granite hills. You can even visit Sakura Matsuri, the Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival in Cowra late September! Year round, enjoy the tranquillity and landscapes of the Japanese Gardens and Cultural Centre in Cowra (14 min). The gardens act as a monument of peace and reconciliation between two countries after the largest Prisoner Of War breakout in modern military history. Cowra's rich history can be explored at the Cowra POW Campsite and various other historical sites around town. Make sure to end your night around a great campfire! You can have campfires in your own contained fire pits and sometimes we have complimentary firewood in a wood shed close by. Roast some marshmallows and take in the starry night sky. Property has a gorgeous stand-alone bathroom building with 2 toilets, a hot water shower and sink. Please keep this clean and tidy. There are cleaning products under the sink as we cannot always be there to keep it clean. There is also an undercover table and basic camp kitchen set up for use in the shearing shed. Please take all rubbish with you. Pick a camp site in the middle aisle around the sheds, bathroom block and driveway OR in any open paddock (granite pad sites on hill are their own sites). Note the ground off the driveway and parking pads can get very wet and boggy so to avoid getting bogged please try to stick to the driveway as much as possible.

The Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum boasts a Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton and the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery is home to a wonderful collection of Australian paintings and contemporary artworks. Spend the day in Bathurst by seeing many of the amazing sites including the famous Ben Chiffley Dam and spend the day on the water and even a short drive to Rockley to visit the famous pub now owned by Matt Moran. We absolutely loved our night at the farm stay. We were shown around and made to feel very welcome. There were baby goats for the children to bottle feed, miniature ponies and a cow plus deer and many more animals. The amenities were clean and everything was very comfortable. We will be back!

3 nights at Camping in the Rosnay Olive Grove

The campsite in the olive grove was excellent, plenty of space and the facilities enough to make for an easy, relaxing, and peaceful stay. I had three nights and enjoyed the birdlife, clear night skies, and the cellar door close by. The hot shower, gas cooker and fridge made the camping so easy it is a great place for a quick getaway.

Weekend Trip to Watton Airstrip

Wonderful spot by the river. Dogs had a blast. Composting toilet means one less thing to carry. Made it in and out in a fully loaded Outback. Just need to choose the lines best suited to the lower ground clearance.

Quiet,Clean, well maintained A wonderful relaxing space to enjoy. .Damien and Tammie are a pleasure to interact with and a response turnaround time within a hour (It has been immediate including answering questions I have) . This makes booking easy and you feel welcomed to their space.Thanks again for opening your property see you again soon

It was such an easy spot to get to. Very quiet and lots of room to stay. Would definitely stay there again if we ever travelled through Parkes. Highly recommend.

2 nights at Watton Airstrip

I booked The Beach site by the river but Damien talked me out of taking my VW camper van down the track as it has low clearance. I stayed at Hillside site instead with spectacular views. Thankfully the weather was great but I wouldn’t want to be there with a strong westerly blowing. I walked the 1km down to the river which was worth it. Spent 3 hrs there to myself, swimming, and chatting to the friendly horses. The highlight was watching a platypus from Deep Spot site for at least half an hour bobbing up and down feeding along the opposite bank. Damien was a lovely host 😊 Would recommend with a high clearance 4WD only.

We requested a last minute booking to stay due to being rained out at our previous campsite. Darrin was prompt and friendly. The communal areas were outstanding and very warm. We loved spending time with the friendly dogs. The check in instructions were clear and the site was very quiet and peaceful. We had a great stay.

5 nights at Watton Airstrip

1st time on top of the hill in our caravan (our 4th time staying there - 3 times swag camping down on the river). Hosts are welcoming and accommodating. It was gale force winds and the hilltop site is very exposed, amazing views!. It is a large flat area suitable for big vans, short track up is rocky but easily traversed. Our van is 21ft. After 2.nights we asked to move to a more sheltered spot, they said set up wherever we like. Got free range eggs from Tam as well - super bright yolks. Thanks again.
