We are 1.2 km from the township along the River Road. There are powered and unpowered sites for caravans and campers set in a rustic location. We are a dog-friendly park so the whole family is welcome. Dogs need to be controlled at all times and cleaned up after. No aggressive dogs please. Campfires are permitted in designated fire pits only and may be subject to fire bans. Firewood and ice are available for purchase (cash preferred). Recycling bins are provided, otherwise campers are required to take their rubbish with them. Wi-Fi and Telstra coverage are available. Rainforest Gateway is located approximately 8klms along Grady's Creek Road, just 20 klms north of Kyogle and 15 klms from the Queensland border on the popular scenic tourist route, Lions Road. Kyogle is a bustling town with an IGA supermarket, MTB riding tracks, lovely gift shops, cinema, bowling alley, and a selection of dining outlets. For those wanting to immerse themselves in nature, the Border Ranges National Park is a short drive away. Please note Lions Road is temporarily closed for road repairs and expected to be reopened late January 2026. We can still be reached on Gradys Creek Road off Summerland Way, ignore Google maps if it directs you to Lynches Creek Rd. Check in is strictly between 2 - 5pm. 'La Paloma' is a farm located 15 minutes from the township of Cowra and Wyangala Dam. La Paloma boasts spectacular views down the valley and of surrounding granite hills. Make sure to pop over to Wyangala Dam (14 min) for a fish or take part in some watersports. Or even head down the road to Elliotts Lookout over the Dam for some incredible views! We can even provide under cover boat storage if you want to bring your boat with you for some fun on the lake! In spring, enjoy the beautiful blossoming fruit trees. You can even visit Sakura Matsuri, the Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival in Cowra late September! Year round, enjoy the tranquillity and landscapes of the Japanese Gardens and Cultural Centre in Cowra (14 min). The gardens act as a monument of peace and reconciliation between two countries after the largest Prisoner Of War breakout in modern military history. Cowra's rich history can be explored at the Cowra POW Campsite and various other historical sites around town. Make sure to end your night around a great campfire! You can have campfires in your own contained fire pits and sometimes we have complimentary firewood in a wood shed close by. Roast some marshmallows and take in the starry night sky. Property has a gorgeous stand-alone bathroom building with 2 toilets, a hot water shower and sink. Please keep this clean and tidy. There are cleaning products under the sink as we cannot always be there to keep it clean. There is also an undercover table and basic camp kitchen set up for use in the shearing shed. Please take all rubbish with you. Pick a camp site in the middle aisle around the sheds, bathroom block and driveway OR in any open paddock (granite pad sites on hill are their own sites). Note the ground off the driveway and parking pads can get very wet and boggy so to avoid getting bogged please try to stick to the driveway as much as possible.

NOT suitable for loud partying. Hot shower and toilets The state forest is a short 10min drive away for bush walking, mountain biking and 4 wheel driving. Beach is 40 min drive away. We are located close to the Central Coast and Newcastle. (In Cooranbong ) Some of our camp sites have access to three flush toilets and only one shared shower, rubbish facilities and drinking water. (Campfires) we have 5 fire pits on some of our sites , fires are permitted during the winter months. We also have 2 x 4 star cabins which sleep 15 between them, they are listed separately on Hipcamp. However the guests from both the camp sites and the cabins have shared access to the pool and facilities. Which includes a large under cover patio area. FRIENDLY PETS welcome. On certain camp sites our small kitchen with microwave dishwasher and cook top and fridge may be used . Please just clean up any mess you make. For the next guest All cleaning products under sink. WE HAVE 2 DOGS that are people friendly., who love to meet new fury friends , they do have the run of our property . We had a lovely time at Sheffield; hosts Debbie & Colin were very welcoming. There was plenty for the kids to do, helping with animal feeding and just admiring the many animals on the property. Toilet and shower facilities, plenty of firewood, lots of space and a nice quiet property! Thanks for having us and for your time spent with our kids!

Weekend Trip to Domaine De Binet

Will highly recommend Domaine de Binet for camping. The venue located inside a vineyard. At dawn, you will see air balloons rising with beautiful array of sunshine. I camp next to the pond and a gum tree. Although requires a little drive to the bathroom, it is very tranquil and peaceful if you want to escape from the bustling city life. There are options to stay closer to the bathroom near a white structure. Bathroom is heated and very clean, which was a lifesaver if you camp during winter. The family is very friendly and kind. I arrived with a very warm welcome and a mini tour to the vineyard. At night when I was lost, they came to the rescue and gave me directions. :) The only thing that I’d suggest the venue to have is some signage to indicate location of certain places at the venue for people (like me) who has a poor sense of direction :P Other than that, I had a wonderful stay and will definitely come back again for another visit .

The campsite is clean and quiet. Definitely recommend it, only thing is the campsite only has Telstra mobile reception, but campsite has wifi which helps a lot

We stayed a couple of nights in Tamworth to explore. Dan’s property was incredibly peaceful and offered a stunning view. There were plenty of birds and Dan’s cows and horses. Their border collie was the most beautiful visitor I’ve had in ages. An easy drive into Tamworth to view the local attractions, would stay again.

Weekend Trip to Luckystars Sanctuary

We loved our stay at Lucky Stars Sanctuary. All the animals were very friendly and we were based in the area that many cows were able to come and say hi. Clint and the Lucky Stars team were amazing as well, giving us suggestions for the local area, and brought us on a feeding tour where we could get up close to the animals whilst learning a bit about how they got there and what life would look like for them outside the sanctuary. We thank the team for our stay and plan to return.

Weekend Trip to Rainforest Gateway

All sites are well sized, beautifully maintained and positioned with access to creek. The caretakers are lovely and do an amazing job with ensuring amenities are 10/10 - especially the camp kitchen with lots of various seating options including lounges, dining & bar tables. Also a great place to stay with well behaved dogs that enjoy a bit more space to run around. Will be back!

Weekend Trip to Luckystars Sanctuary

We recently stayed at this Hipcamp and it struck a really nice balance between feeling off-grid and still being comfortable. The site itself was well maintained, with plenty of space and a thoughtful layout that gave a sense of privacy. One of the standout features is that the property is also an animal sanctuary, which adds a really special dimension to the stay. There are opportunities to interact with the animals, and it’s clear they’re well cared for. Spending time with them made the experience feel more meaningful and memorable, especially if you enjoy being around animals. The setting overall is peaceful, surrounded by nature, and perfect for slowing down. Whether it was mornings with a coffee taking in the view or evenings by the fire, it felt like a proper reset. The host was friendly and responsive without being intrusive, which made the whole experience smooth and relaxed.

What a beautiful spot. We were in a caravan and the site was the flattest we have had off grid. Loved the peace and serenity. Definitely will be back. Hosts were lovely and they are doing amazing work rescuing native wildlife.

Rainforest Gateway is the perfect camping spot! All the large, flat sites overlook the river, and the 'camp kitchen' nearby is a fabulous spot for eating, lounging and cooking. We thought it was wonderful not to encounter large crowds, and we really appreciated the 'camp parents' Michael & Vicki.

It was a beautiful spot in a private, shelter location. The area was in a slightly damp environment, but the natural setting of trees and birds were lovely environment! All very close to Mogo attractions. Thank you Karene.

Where to go

The Blue Mountains

Lace up your boots for one of Australia's best bushwalking destinations. The ridge of mountains two hours west of Sydney by road or train is a World Heritage-listed wonderland of sandstone canyons, waterfalls, valleys, and clifftop lookouts. The national park offers remote bush campsites, or you can go for a bit more comfort in one of the region’s many caravan and holiday parks.

NSW North Coast

The coastline of northern NSW, from north of Newcastle to the Queensland border, is classic beach holiday territory. Almost every town has at least one caravan park, often with waterfront campsites, and most of the coastline is protected by national parks with fantastic camping spots and facilities. Flanked by the Great Dividing Range and World Heritage rainforests, the North Coast has Hipcampers spoilt for choice.

NSW South Coast

Every bit as wild as the North Coast, the South Coast stretches south of Sydney to the Victorian border with a string of national parks, state forests, campgrounds, and seaside towns with family-friendly holiday parks. Kangaroos and wallabies graze the camping grounds and laze on the beaches, which have some of the whitest sand in the world. Kayak the waterways, bushwalk the forests, and soak in the views from the mountaintops.

Snowy Mountains

Alpine New South Wales, also known as the Snowy Mountains, stretches from the ACT south to the Victorian border along the spine of the Great Dividing Range. Along with hundreds of camping spots, the big attraction of Kosciuszko National Park—the largest national park in NSW—is Australia’s highest peak, Mount Kosciuszko. In winter, the area is a magnet for skiers, and in summer, fishing, bushwalking, and mountain biking reign supreme.

NSW Outback

The far western corner of NSW is a great introduction to the Outback, where endless red dust plains seem to stretch on forever under cloudless blue skies. Take a road trip out here and you'll see plenty of kangaroos and emus, but not many people. National parks such as Mungo, Mutawintji, and Kinchega offer superb camping spots, Aboriginal art sites, and stunning scenery.
