Known for the bombest bouldering in Virginia, Grayson Highlands boasts more than 700 named climbing routes. The park’s unique geology furnishes climbing opportunities for everyone, whether you’re a rookie scrambler or a seasoned high-baller. Not into rocks? Grayson Highlands’ 4,502 acres offer tight terrain for tons of other outdoor activities.

Located near Mount Rogers and Whitetop Mountain, Virginia's two highest mountains, the park furnishes magnificent views of alpine-like peaks with year-round access to the Appalachian Trail (AT). Besides the AT, there’s miles and miles of other hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding trails. While you’re out, keep your eyes peeled for the wild ponies that traverse the area and are used to prevent reforestation on the highland balds. Nearly 10 miles of crisp mountain streams house native brook and wild rainbow trout for the catch. And when it’s time to tuck in, there’s a variety of accommodations to choose from: tent, RV, group and horse campsites are available as well as a bunkhouse for those who prefer a roof over their head.
