State Forest State Park
A-moose yourself in rugged Colorado wilderness at this iconic park.
Enthusiasts consider North Park the moose capital of Colorado with over 600 moose inhabiting the area year-round. This area's claim to fame is just one of the draws here. It's the ultimate in rugged Colorado hiking, snowmobiling, and fishing.
Nearly 100 miles of hiking trails take you along meandering streams and the reservoir. Along the way, you might see bighorn sheep climbing along the mountainsides.
The adjacent national forest offers a vast wilderness for you to explore. This area is far away from major cities, so there's not much here to spoil this gorgeous wilderness. Stargazing is popular at night because the glow from cities is non-existent.
Up to 15 cabins and yurts dot the landscape, along with 158 campsites. Reserve these early if you want the best chance of grabbing one.
