Lathrop State Park
Tee off at Lathrop, Colorado's first state park and the only one that can boast a golf course.
Colorado's first state park lies nestled in the shadow of the Spanish Peaks. These two granite masses rise 7,000 feet, towering over the park. The scenery makes for a spectacular recreational and camping experience. Located 3 miles west of Walsenburg, Lathrop spans 1,594 acres and houses two pristine lakes.
Head to the warm-water Martin Lake for swimming, water skiing, and power and sail boating. Take your canoe, kayak or non-motorized boat to the more peaceful no-wake Horseshoe Lake. Cast your line into either one for some successful catfish, bass or trout fishing. A golf course, archery range, and horse trail ensure there’s pretty much something for everyone at Lathrop.
The park offers 103 single-family campsites, all with fire rings and picnic tables. Yucca campground has 21 non-electric sites. Piñon campground h
