We hope your visit to Ubuntu will be peaceful and rejuvenating. Ubuntu was the PERFECT place to observe the Northern Lights on Friday and Saturday (May 10-11). Campers at Ubuntu found the perfect spot to observe the April 8th TOTAL solar eclipse. There are no lights, no neighbors in sight, and they had the freedom to choose their campsite or observation point, whether it was on the flat, nestled in the trees, or on top of Carney Mountain. RV’s also easily found a spot to camp. New friends were made as everyone observed the eclipse. It was totally awe inspiring in so many ways!! The open areas and the top of Carney Mountain, which is a short hike with panoramic views of the area, were perfect spots to experience the solar eclipse, Northern Lights, sunrises and sunsets. The 115 acres of Ubuntu offer many opportunities for camping, hiking and enjoying the abundant wildlife. There is a wet area that sometimes becomes several ponds if the beavers have been at work. There is a path leading to the ponds and also one that runs through the woods to the right of the ponds. The location is private and quiet but still very accessible (only 10 minutes from Exit 34 off the Northway) to all the Adirondacks has to offer, such as biking, jogging, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and hiking. Ubuntu is located only 45 minutes from Lake Placid and the high peaks areas, Saranac Lake is about one hour away, Lake Champlain is 20 minutes away, and Montreal is one hour away. The ferry to Vermont if you wish to cross over the pond (Lake Champlain) is about 45 minutes away. And Exit 34 off the Northway is only 10 minutes from Ubuntu. And if you love equestrian sports, the Willow Hill Equestrian Center is less than 1.5 miles away. Bring your horse and stable your buddy at the Willow Hill Farm, or sign up for a lesson with one of their accomplished instructors. Your furry pets are welcome, but we ask that you keep them on a leash if they tend to chase game or do not have a reliable recall. Please use good judgment. There are many deer on the property, so yes we do have ticks. Please take the necessary precautions. Generators are allowed but in keeping with the peace and tranquility of Ubuntu, please run them only between the hours of 12:00 - 2 PM, especially if other campers are present.. This property is designated during the spring months for a state of the art maple sugaring operation, as well as a peaceful retreat to “unplug” and enjoy a weekend! There’s Trails to hike nearby, in the woods that surround you, Killington is 30 minutes away, 10 minutes from Silver Lake for canoeing and kayaking and the Barnard General Store. Many options to eat in the area and other events going on throughout the summer and fall months! Or, just find your self getting away from it all to enjoy the quaintness of this rustic cabin. You will find exactly what you will need here to support your glamping adventure! Solar power is set up to power the cabin as well as potable water can be provided onsite for drinking or cleaning the dishes/pots/pans that are also provide within the cabin. There is fire place outside for roasting marshmallows with firewood provided. Or to simply just sit back and enjoy, but feel free to cook your dinner on as well! There is a Full size bed and also two twin beds provided. Linens can be provided but it wouldn’t hurt to bring your sleeping bags just in case! ***During the winter months you will have to hike to the cabin!!*** Don’t be afraid to ask more questions if you are considering booking! Small, cozy, and warm cabin. It snowed 2/3 days we were there, and wood stove kept us toasty! Dog’s enjoyed the little trail to the power lines in the morning. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

The cabin was a perfect retreat for my husbands birthday. Our dogs enjoyed all of the outdoor adventures and cozying up with the wood stove. There’s enough creature comforts to feel at ease while also enjoying the simplicity of being in the woods.

Well, lemme tell ya, this here’s the view from my little ol' parking spot. We got ourselves some good ol’ electricity 'n' them fancy low voltage lights all 'round the place. Makes it real nice when the sun goes down, ya know? Perfect for a campin’ trip, if ya ask me!

Really nice spot. Would be great for a group of friends to book all 3 spots. Everyone would have there own site but you could all hang out together or have dinner at one site and breakfast in another. Great group overland site, Adv moto site, or group of friends in a car because it’s not far or technical from the main rd.

Staying at the Dome in Know Town is truly one for the bucket list! The hosts are welcoming and so helpful. We stayed for three nights and even in the chillier weather on late October nights, the easy set up made everything a real breeze. The out house is extremely well kept up with and the land around the Dome gives so much to do and explore. If you’re thinking about it, BOOK IT! You won’t regret it 🙂

Betsy was wonderful! We got a little lost getting there and it was getting dark, but she came right over to our campsite when we arrived to welcome us and deliver the wood we bought. I highly recommend buying some wood because she even brings kindling, newspaper & a fire starter in order to make a lovely campfire under the stars! I highly recommend Betsey’s place!
