Beautiful Spot, Bring Bug Spray
We tent camped here and found the site to be spacious, far more than we needed, with the bonus of private access to the river, which was beautiful but very rapid.
Amanda was very communicative and helpful in guiding us to our site. The property is large with buildings scattered throughout, so her directions made finding our spot easy.
A few things to keep in mind:
• The ground is extremely sandy, which made securing tent stakes a bit tricky. We eventually made it work, but bringing heavy-duty stakes or sand anchors might help.
• As many other reviewers mentioned, the mosquitoes are intense. I had multiple bites within minutes of arriving, before I could even get the bug spray out. Even with frequent reapplication, we were still swarmed.
Unfortunately, one of my bites triggered a severe allergic reaction, and we had to leave early for the hospital, cutting our trip from two nights down to just 12 hours. That was, of course, no fault of the host, and the campsite itself was lovely while we were there.
The porta potty on-site was private and impressively clean, honestly the cleanest one I’ve ever seen at a campsite.
The site felt mostly private. You can see others driving through occasionally, but there were no other campers within earshot. The only unexpected privacy issue was a drone flying over our site for several of hours one evening. We never saw or heard the operator, which felt a little intrusive, though we recognize that may not be under the host’s control.
