Fallow us on IG https://www.instagram.com/waterfallcampmendocino/ Come enjoy your stay with us on our beautiful 5-acre property centrally located, its only 10 min to the village of Mendocino, 5 minute drive to Caspar beach and 10 min to the town of Fort Bragg. Nestled on the edge of the Redwoods and Pygmy Forest, adjacent to Russian Gulch State Park. The property has private access into park which consists of many miles of beautiful Redwood trails,the trail to the waterfall, biking trails along with a trail that leads straight to the ocean. Come and relax around your private campfire and cook over the open flames or treat yourself to fine dining in Mendocino or Fort Bragg, the experience is at your fingertips. From camping under the stars to hiking and biking through the redwoods or kayaking up Big River, come let the Mendocino coast show you what it’s all about. Our goal is to make you feel right at home. Each of our three sites has a redwood deck with a sink and food prep space, potable water, remote solar lighting, picnic table, smokeless fire pit and grill, firewood, level parking area and tent pad. One of the three sites can accommodate a 25’ trailer. There is a beautiful redwood bathhouse with two outdoor showers and two flushing toilets. All water onsite is potable so make sure to top off before your day of adventuring. There is a horseshoe pit, cornhole, and badminton set for fun under the sun. All sites are a two min walk to the State Park trails and 5 min ride to Jackson state forest bike trails. It's about a half hour walk to the beautiful waterfall from our property. Large Groups are welcome to book all three sites with two additional RV locations. Also we have a fully stocked westfalia camper van to glamp in if your wanting to pack light for the weekend. Site# 3 - StarGazer is located under the stars and has the most expansive view of the night sky. With its own blackberry patch just behind the private redwood deck and sink area/food prep becomes a fun edible experience in Sep/Oct/Nov months. Campsite includes redwood cooking deck, sink with potable cold water and solar lighting, a breeo smokeless fire pit and cooking grill with grill tool set, heat resistant gloves, fire extinguisher for safety, picnic table and level parking area. This site is nearest to the communal Bathhouse with two showers and two restrooms. This beautiful site always provides the rustic chic experience that the Mendocino coast can offer to guests. There is a communal horseshoe pit, cornhole, and badminton set for fun under the sun. Waterfall, State Park & Biking trails are a two min walk to from camp so get set for your days adventure.

This beautiful site is tucked back in woods with a redwood deck, sink with potable cold water and solar lighting, a Breeo smokeless fire pit and cooking grill, grill tool set, heat resistant gloves, fire extinguisher for safety, picnic table and level parking area. There is a beautiful small grove of redwoods on the corner highlighting the night sky as you stare at the stars. Site 1 can accommodate a 25' truck and trailer along with having a tent site. The communal Bathhouse with two showers and two restrooms is a hop skip and a jump away. With the communal activity space we have a bad minton set, horseshoe pit, and cornhole, ready for fun under the sun. All sites are just a few seconds to the trail leading to the State Park.

Site# 2 - Pygmy Grove is nestled in the ancient pygmy forest and is just a 2 min walk to the Waterfall trail, State Park, and the surrounding Biking trails. It can accommodate 1 camper van and 1 tent at the same time and there is space for two vehicles, This site is complete with a redwood deck, sink with potable cold water and solar lighting, a Breeo smokeless fire pit and cooking grill with BBQ utensils, fire extinguisher for safety, picnic table and level parking area. There are two parking areas, one for a campervan which is level and one for a tent site. There is a communal horseshoe pit, cornhole, and badminton set for fun under the sun. The Bathhouse with two showers and two restrooms is just a short walk away, along with a two min walking trail that leads to the State Park and Waterfall, Biking and Hiking trails.

Here at Waterfall Camp, there are four separate campsites which can all be booked out for large group gatherings. NOTE: We can only accept the large group booking if all four sites are available so please book well in advance for your selected dates. Site# 4 Glamping in Retro Westfalia. The Camper Van: Is a 1989 VW Westfalia Vanagon. It comes fully loaded, so leave all your camping stuff at home and just jump in the car now! It includes Two Beds w/Bedding that can sleep up to 4 people (4 people is a tight fit), Towels, Cooler, All kitchen necessities, Propane and 2 burners, Sink/potable water, Coffee/French press, First aid kit and More! The site: Comes with the Westfalia Campervan onsite. Parking for 2 additional vehicles (not enough space for trailers). This site is tucked withing the pygmy forest and is surrounded by Huckleberry bushes. It is open to the stars which brings a magical feeling of freedom. It is complete with a Redwood deck, sink with potable cold water and solar lighting, propane firepit, double burner propane cooktop stove, 4 chairs and blankets, redwood picnic table with a shade umbrella. There is enough space for 3-4 tents depending on the size. This site is the most private that we offer. It is located about 200' away from the other sites. You still have access to the communal area with badminton, cornhole, and horseshoes, the bathhouse with flushing toilets, hot showers and Wi-Fi, and access to the Waterfall trail in the State Park. We have added a private Porta Potti for the site which is convenient if needed at night.

By far, the best hipcamp experience we have had! Shay and Liz have thought about every detail in their campsites. The location is ideal for exploring the Jackson Demo Forest trails and Russian Gulch State park and its a short drive to Ft. Bragg + the beach. Shay was welcoming and incredibly generous. We hope to be back soon!

Beautiful place. Everything you need is here. We love the campsite 1. Peaceful and not too sunny in the afternoon. It also has a hose that I could rinse my dogs off. Booked initially for a night then booked the next night. Also, make sure to read the directions in the Hipcamp. Apple and google maps will bring you to a close road.

Waterfall Camp is hands down the best hipcamp we’ve stayed at so far! Everything is so thoughtfully and tastefully done. Each site has everything you might dream of needing for your stay. The location is beautiful and there’s a private gate that connects the property to the Russian Gulch State Park, with tons of trails including one out to the ocean. Truly wonderful spot, awesome hosts, we will absolutely be coming back.

We had such a wonderful time at Waterfall Camp! When we got there, our site, #1 Wildwood, was already all ready for us with chairs and blankets, a small sink, a dish drying rack, dish soap, and a sponge, plus a grill for the fire pit. It was so charming and spotless. The common area had games and lots of Adirondack chairs. I’d definitely book all the sites here for a family or friend getaway. The bathrooms had a sink and mirror, two flush toilets, and two showers, all super clean and probably the best-kept of any similar places we’ve seen in California. Shay greeted us right after we arrived and was so friendly and welcoming. I can’t say enough about how great we had it at Waterfall Camp and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Mendocino area.

Waterfall Hipcamp was terrific! We stayed for 3 nights in Pygmy Grove and extended our visit with an extra night in Star Gazer. Shay is super responsive. Shay and Liz have really put a lot of thought into these sites. Quiet and private but still met some other cool Hipcampers. The amenities are just right, all the way around. We will definitely be back!!

What a great spot! Thank you so much to Liz and Shay. You have created a warm and welcome environment with a small number of cozy campsites. The amenities are just right., convenient and carefully thought out but not overdone. We had a terrific stay! We recommend the Russian Gulch trails and the Jughandle Ecological Staircase. You can’t beat the beaches.!

Camping at Shay and Liz's is always a blast - beautiful surroundings, thoughtful amenities, each campsite is spaced out and feels very private, proximity to the ocean and town, and awesome trails literally right off of the campsite make this our favorite spot while we're the area. Thoughtful, serene camping

We've been HipCamping for 8 years and this is one of the most thoughtful HipCamps we've stayed at. All the little touches....blankets, seating with shielded fire pits, sinks and lights by the site, hammock in the tree. And extremely well put together bath area. We've seen some horrendous ones and this is top of the list. We came in January in our van. And what a treat to have it all to ourselves. To sit outside under the stars or sway in the hammock without the sound of someone else's music was pure bliss. Just the sound of birds and the hum of the fog horn in the distance. Love the proximity to hiking and all that Mendo/Fort Bragg have to offer. Would definitely recommend.

This property was amazing! The thoughtfulness and attention to detail that Shay & Liz have put into each campsite is undeniable. I really appreciate the chairs, the firepit, the firewood with starter sticks and the picnic table. I love a small secluded Hipcamp with amenities! The proximity to Fort Bragg and Mendocino was fantastic for errands and grabbing food. The trail head right off the property was lovely! I’d love to come back here!

Super cool spot 10 minutes from Mendocino but a world away. Great set up with 4 separate but equally equipped camp sites, great bath and shower facilities, and awesome hosts. Perfect for groups or solo travelers.

This was hands down one of the nicest hipcamps I’ve visited. Shay and Liz make sure the sites were fully appointed with everything we would need for a night under the stars with a furry family member. The trails are super accessible and our pup was very happy. We’re excited to visit again!

A Magical Mendocino Hipcamp Retreat

Our recent stay at Shay and Liz’s Hipcamp in Mendocino County was, without question, the best Hipcamp experience we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that they had thought of absolutely everything to make guests feel welcome, comfortable, and at home. Their warmth and hospitality set the tone, and the environment they’ve created is nothing short of magical, with unique artwork, beautiful plants, and thoughtful touches everywhere. Each site has its own outdoor kitchen, spacious tent pad, fire pit with chairs, blankets, and even firewood. Highlights included a hot shower among the redwoods, a trail from camp to a waterfall, and easy access to amazing beaches. The camp and nearby beaches were wonderfully dog‑friendly, and our son loved it so much he wrote a two‑page review in their guest book. We’ve already booked our return! Thanks again Shay and Liz!!

Best campsite you’ll find!!

This was the perfect place to call home base while exploring everything Mendocino has to offer. The place was easy to find and I was greeted warmly by Shay who was super helpful throughout my stay. I stayed at site 1 which was clean and exactly as advertised. The sites are a little close together but separated by trees so there is still privacy. The outdoor flushing toilets, hot showers, and running water at each site made the stay comfortable and the WiFi allowed me to plan for the next day’s activities with ease. The hike to the waterfall was stunning and so easy to access. The stars from the site were unbeatable. There were cooking utensils and firewood, a picnic table with umbrella, outdoor string lights, and so many things that made the stay a little more like home. I feel like I’ve looked, online, at nearly every HipCamp and campground in Northern California and this is truly one of the best! I can’t recommend staying here enough.

The setting is beautiful and there is a short path to gain access to the State Park. Each site has more privacy than what you would get in a campground and the drive to downtown Mendocino is only 10-15 minutes. I definitely plan on returning.

Had the most amazing time with our friends! We had a group of around 11 people and we booked two campsites so we had enough parking and space and were so surprised by all the great amenities! There was a tent to protect us from the rain set up already when we arrived and they provided wood and other fun games :) the bathroom was also beautifully built and was super clean and the shower even had warm water!! Absolutely loved this place and can’t recommend it enough! The drive to and from Mendocino was also easy and simple. The hike on site was also stunning and the waterfall was a fun visit. definitely will be coming back!!

We really appreciated the peace & quiet of Shay & Liz's Hipcamp, and having everything we needed to have a fire... wood, kindling, paper and a lighter tucked away and ready to go. But the BEST feature was the well-marked trail to the waterfalls from our campsite which was absolutely gorgeous!

This spot was incredible! Such a cozy and private area on the site with all the amenities needed for a great stay. The communal area was really nice too. Shay and Liz were super communicative and helped with any and all questions that we had. The whole thing is just as great as it looks!

This was my second trip to Shay & Liz's wonderful, gem of a place outside Mendocino surrounded by the Redwoods. I was there with three friends to hike and mountain bike the area - the area that begins, and ends at the gate which is 100 feet from your tent! The facilities are top notch - real bathrooms and showers, great fire pits with an endless, free, wood supply, games on the lawn...is it camping? You bet but with some welcome amenities. Shay and Liz are amazing people and I highly recommend their Hipcamp!

YES!!! I absolutely loved Waterfall camp. Shay was lovely. Welcoming and helpful. Our spot was created with such care and expertise. Sweet touches like Mexican blankets on the chairs around the fire pit. Kitchen area and shower/bathrooms were delightful. All built and designed by Shay and Liz. It made camping easy. The hike to the waterfall was beautiful too. Loved it. Definitely plan on returning!
