Forest Camping near Mt Madonna Park
in RedGrove, CaliforniaThis campsite was super secluded and so close (walking distance) to Mt. Madonna County Park, which had some great hiking. We were very happy overall with our experience and plan to camp here again.
A few things to note- There's no water at all available, which made us very nervous tending the fire since the pit is built into the hill, and the tiny roots in the dirt caught fire a few times and had to be doused. Oyster the cat will try to jump in your lap/climb into your tent. If you don't want that, bring a spray bottle. We loved the sound of all the animals, but it can be loud with chickens, horses, turkeys, and dogs.

Site 23 - Car Camping
in Mendocino Magic, CaliforniaI love coming to Mendocino Magic. There are a variety of sites at different price points, and a bunch of activities; hiking, swimming, fishing, and now even paintball. Since I've been coming with friends for a while, and have gotten a feel for a place I decided to do a solo camping trip this weekend. My first ever. I was looking forward to camping in the rain and just reading and relaxing. Mack and Chuck came to check if I needed anything occasionally, and brought a big jug cooler full of ice water. It was an amazing trip that I will definitely fold into the fabric of my life as a regular excursion.
Past trip
in Santa Cruz's Rudy Ranch, CaliforniaCalm oasis in the redwoods
If you're looking for a private, relaxing stay near some great Redwood state parks look no further. My husband and I wanted a place where we could celebrate our anniversary in a calm and relaxing location and we got it. It was clean, quiet, and exactly as advertised.
Past trip
in Maple Creek Ranch, CaliforniaRon and family were wonderful hosts. It's a beautiful property, well maintained bathrooms, and private camp sites. I look forward to returning again.
Past trip
in Willow Creek To Yosemite, CaliforniaI loved this site. My husband was less than enthused at first (he's been spoiled with redwood forest camping). This campground is located in an old Jewish summer camp. I personally loved the quiet, kind of run-down look of the cabins around us. The campground itself isn't very flat, so getting the right spot for your tent is key. Nearby there is a lake and a dam, so there is the constant sound of rushing water in the distance, which I loved. The hosts were very helpful and checked on us to make sure we had everything we need.

Marjorie hasn't gone on any trips yet.
Hipcamp Hosts can leave an optional review of their Hipcampers after the trip is completed. This is where those reviews from Hipcamp Hosts will appear.
