This was our second visit to Wine Trail Wilderness and it was just as amazing as our first. Jon goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is comfortable and has what they need. The firewood was plentiful, we were supplied with a full water cooler of delicious water, we were given a small trash and recycling bucket for our campsite, and the bucket composting toilet solution is the nicest I have ever used (there is even an exhaust fan, light, and hand washing station in the enclosure). To top it all of, Jon is also great company if you are interested in chatting. We will definitely be back.
Past trip
in Bear Creek Farm and Ranch, IllinoisOur family (including 2 young children) had a great time at Pond's Edge. We stayed at site 3 (which was on an a slight incline but we still found a great place for our large tent). We loved being right by the pond and our kids had a blast riding in the row boat. We enjoyed hiking through the enchanted forest on the trail and eating the delicious cookies that Debbie makes and sells. We even got a bit of cedar that happened to be on hand to burn with our firewood and it smelled so wonderful! We will definitely be back! Thank you for sharing your beautiful property with us!

Such a peaceful spot. Excellent stargazing on clear nights and birdsong in the morning. My daughter loved our asparagus treasure hunt. đ

We enjoyed our Spring trip so much that we came back in Autumn. This is such a beautiful spot for stargazing and quiet nights.

We had a wonderful time camping here with our two small children. The site was very well cared for, there was plenty of room for our large tent, and the provided firewood was the perfect amount for a reasonable fire each night. There was a great little trail around the property that was nice for meandering. John also kindly invited us to help ourselves to produce from his garden and grapes to eat during our stay. We look forward to coming again!

We had such a wonderful time. Jon was a fantastic host. He had 5 gallons of ice cold water waiting at our campsite and even laid a fire in the fire pit so it was waiting for us when we got back to camp at the end of the day. The site was mowed while still preserving natural areas, which we greatly appreciated. The sites were also spread out and spacious (plenty of room for our giant tent). We are definitely coming back. We enjoyed the two wineries that were close by (Hickory Ridge Vineyard and Winery & Pomona Winery). If you enjoy craft beer we also highly suggest a trip to Scratch Brewing -- they use foraged ingredients! We have two small children and really enjoyed the short hikes to the observation points at Little Grand Canyon and the Pomona Natural Bridge. Our whole family was also enchanted by Jeremy "Boo" Rochman Memorial Park. We dare you to find the secret door in the castle! Then what a treat to come back to the campsite at the end of a long day of exploring, listen to the wildlife, and stargaze by the fire. The only thing that would have made our stay better would have been staying even longer.
