This campsite has become a recurring destination for our group, visited nearly three times each year, and it remains a standout choice for both comfort and atmosphere. Despite being a first‑time organizer, I found the booking process straightforward and efficient. The host’s professionalism, friendliness, and exceptional patience have consistently elevated our experience. Their commitment to hospitality is one of the reasons this site was originally recommended to us by my older brother — and it’s easy to see why. The property offers dependable access to essential amenities, including bathrooms and a water source, while still providing a peaceful retreat from the noise and pace of city life. It’s an ideal blend of convenience and quiet, making it a reliable choice for group outings. We have more stories than space to share them in this comment box, so I’ll leave the rest tucked away in our memory — a small collection of moments we will revisit. 😊 And special shout out, Tia!

I stayed at site 3 ponds edge. Beautiful scenery and the hosts are very nice. The spot is surrounded by trees and shady so quite cool even with the sun out. Unfortunately I had to leave early (personal, not anyone else's fault) but I would recommend this place for anyone who wants to get away!

Whimsical Cottage

The grandkids LOVED the bunk beds and "treehouse" feel in the cottage. It's a rustic wonderland. The kitchen is well-appointed. This was a perfect landing spot for family to hang out while attending a family reunion in nearby Morrisonville. Debbie was so friendly and accommodating. We will for sure be back!

Always a clean and comfortable welcoming. Great enchanted forest trail leading to a pond. Beautiful fields and trees. Cool and comfortable sleeping. I have 3 large doodles and it is an excellent location to bring them as they are welcome!

The cabin had everything we needed, & the AC kept up with the crazy heat! It was our 3rd year at the cabin and our best yet! The pond was fantastic for swimming, fishing, and for our kayaks & paddle boards.

Idyllic Cottaging with Two Families

I spent a weekend at the cottage with my family and my friend and her family, there were four adults and four kids total. We had a lovely time. The land is peaceful and well cared for. The cottage is great (the photos don't do it justice) and was well stocked for 8. The walk to the pond was such a nice opportunity to see flora and fauna. We spent a long day at the water on the canoe and kayak, fishing and playing. It was idyllic and restorative. We were greeted by Matt who was very helpful throughout our stay. We learned a lot about the land in that area and hope that it is always stewarded by such thoughtful people. We briefly met Deb and Tia and always felt welcomed, but not watched. They were generous and we were able to try some of the incredible farm fresh food as well. It was easy to navigate, but felt spacious and adventuresome. I feel lucky to have stayed there and recommend it to all.

We loved the cottage in the woods on Debbie's land. The cabin is spacious and well equipped on a quiet and peaceful part of the land. The whole property is beautiful and serene. Our host were knowledgeable and friendly.

First family camping trip

We couldn’t have asked for a better first family camping trip! The property was absolutely beautiful, and the host was incredibly kind, even taking my husband on a tour of the property. The fishing was fantastic—my husband caught 23 bass, and together we caught 26! We had an amazing time making family memories and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend!

The site we stayed at was beautifully covered with trees which helped in the 90* weather we were having. The pond made the heat so much better because going into the pond was like taking a semi warm bath. I would definitely recommend camping here to anyone. The hosts are so gracious they made sure we had everything we needed, even asked if we needed anything when they went to the store. First night we wanted firewood and they brought quite a bit to us. Wonderful people and beautiful property.

This is a great place to camp with very friendly owners. Site 3 has plenty of shade with easy access to the pond. There are wooded hiking trails and plenty of scenery to take in. The fishing is excellent with plenty of bass and nice sized bluegill. My two boys were already asking to come back before we left. I highly recommend a visit to Bear Creek.

Bear Creek is a beautiful place to camp for the weekend. Debbie is a fantastic welcoming host who greeted us upon arrival and sent us home with a bag of homemade cookies in the end. Since it is a working farm, there are plenty of farm animals and gardens to see, in addition to hiking trails and a pond. We loved the rustic campsite with a water entrance and so did our dog :) I would definitely recommend this spot for tent camping or just a visit.

We loved camping on Debbie’s land! Our spot was secluded and right in front of the water. It was beautiful and peaceful out there! We also loved that it wasn’t packed with a bunch of people. We were able to enjoy a fire, hike and fish with nature and a serene pond view. Host was excellent to communicate with. Thanks for having us!

Endless Adventures in the Forest

This place is an dog friendly adventure wonderland! My dogs are German shepherds and love a good challenge and the paths were just what they were looking for! There are cricks on the trails with clear running water. The dogs took advantage of getting a drink and cooling off. We ended up at the pond and we all took advantage of cooling off there. The peace and quiet was wonderful! I was really just focused on getting my dogs out and spending quality time with them, mission accomplished! Debbie and her family are wonderful! I will be booking again very soon!

Beautiful and secluded hidden gem for a camping weekend. The owners were very friendly and accommodating to help maximize the experience of our stay. The campsite had plenty of space to make it our temporary home in the grass. Waterside pond access for fishing or kids/dog to splash was so wonderful also. Kids swam during the day and chased frogs at nite. I don't think anything could have made it a more perfect family getaway. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed staying here overnight. The kids enjoyed looking in the pond right at our site edge. The hosts were so warm and welcoming, and I loved the full private bathroom with all the amenities. Taylorville was only 13 minutes away to get anything we forgot. The fire pit was also excellent. We fell asleep to the wind in the trees and woke up to sunshine and a rooster.

A hidden gem

I’m hesitant to write a review because I don’t want this place to become too popular 😅 I truly cannot recommend Bear Creek Farm & Ranch enough. Deb and Matt are the kindest, most generous hosts, and their land and animals are incredible. Our group (1 trailer + 5 tents) stayed at Site 1, which is closest to the bathroom. We woke up each morning to the gorgeous view of the large pond, horses greeting us at the fences, and friendly cats and dogs roaming near the bathroom. The rain and mud didn’t stop us from exploring the vast trails on their property. Lots of nature to appreciate. Deb offered to make a carrot cake for my birthday celebrations, and let me tell you, it was DELICIOUS. We will definitely be back.
