The 1912 Barn is a 110 historic post and beam barn that makes a wonderful backdrop for a night out in the country. Located only 25 minutes from Springfield historic sites and 10 minutes from Decatur, IL this location makes it easy to tour during the day and relax by the camp fire in the evening. Decatur has a mini golf course, splash cove water park, children's zoo and museum, a governor's mansion for tours and 3 museums to visit. Milikin University offers local college level sports. Decatur has a great lake for paddle boarding, boating and fishing with canoe trips down the local Sangamon River. Several local breweries and cute market areas makes Decatur a great place to visit. Take a ride on the trolley and learn out our history. Springfield sites are only a hop and skip away with many things to see and learn. Museums offer great programs and the New Salem Park is a fun day trip with the kids to learn about historic living. Lincoln's sites around in several counties are great to see

1912 Barn Living Experience
The coolest kinda glamping!
I loved it! It's so cute and cozy. It was kinda fun to watch the birds flying around the ceiling of the barn in the day time. I have a new love for grasshoppers too. lol. The hosts were so nice. Their dogs were so sweet. The bathroom set up with very nice and really convenient considering it's kinda camping. Waking up to rooster crowing is my absolute favorite way to wake up. I miss that so much since we only have hens now. You guys should totally get a Turkey. lol. Such a great trip even though we had some issues that complicated spending much time there but I would love to come again when I don't have other obligations all day.

1912 Barn
Our stay at 1912 barn was amazing. It was a wonderful blend of the outdoors and comfort. Beautiful farm with lovely sunrises, sunsets, kind hosts and fun flock of chickens. Thank you Alissa and Hank for sharing your place.

1912Barn Shady Prairie
Aissa and Hank are the best !!! They are both so personable and accommodating. If I go the Springfeild next year there’s no question where I’ll be staying that’s for sure. The grounds are awesome… I tented so I didn’t stay in the barn but Hank gave me the grand tour… I highly recommend this Hipcamp if you’re even thinking about it …

Check in was super easy, Aissa & Frank were communicative leading up to the date and we were able to both sleep inside the barn and tent camp outside.

1912 Barn Living Experience
Lovely time with the chickens.
I stayed in the barn, and had a lovely experience! The site is well equipped (grill, firepit, drinking water, bathroom, bed, couch, coffee maker, fridge, freezer... a lot of conveniences). I'd 100% stay again if I were back in the area. The grounds were lovely and well maintained, beautiful views of the surrounding farmland. It felt remote, despite being close to the highway and not far at all from Decatur when we need to visit a drugstore and grocery store. Our host Hank was very welcoming and helpful, and the chickens were a delight (caveat: I live next door to a rooster, so the crowing didn't disturb my sleep-I felt like I was safe at home).
