My husband and I have stayed here twice, and everything has been perfect both times. The property is beautiful and private, and the host provides so many thoughtful elements. It’s a perfect way to get out in nature without having to deal with all of the packing and preparation required for a typical camping trip.
Had a great time. Excellent communication, spacious tent, plenty of wood and everything we needed. Close to 2 small towns for food and ice cream. Fire pit was ready when we got there, all we had to do was toss in a match and start cooking!

My wife and I made our second trip to Hidden Ridge to celebrate our 10th anniversary. The last time we stayed it was cold and raining the entire time and we still had such a great time that we knew we needed to come back. This place is genuinely a great find! We are normally tent campers so this setup almost feels like cheating and we compare it to renting out a cabin for the weekend. Probably the best part though is the responsiveness of the hosts. We did have a few hiccups with the water system while we were there but were always able to get ahold of the hosts and they got us back up and running quickly. It really does come across that they want you to enjoy your time at this location.
We stayed at Hidden Ridge for the weekend and had an amazing experience. The campsite is secluded, yet still very easy to find. You can tell Terri put a lot of thought and care into every detail. The outdoor kitchen station was fully stocked with everything we needed—silverware, plates, cups, cooking utensils, and more.
The bathroom and shower area was clean and super convenient. The glamping tent was spotless, and the bed was comfortable. One of my favorite moments was waking up in the morning and enjoying the peaceful view from the tent’s back porch.
Terri also had plenty of firewood ready to go. It had rained just two hours before we arrived, but the fire pit and logs were all covered and dry—such a thoughtful touch. And to top it all off, the place is pet-friendly! My cattle dog had the time of his life exploring the area.
I truly can’t wait to come back and stay here again. Highly recommend!
I don't know what I was expecting when I reserved this little camping spot, but it surpassed any and all expectations! This place is ADORABLE ... and cozy and homey and relaxing ... it was just perfect. And Teresa was a great host who checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. We travel to this part of Illinois on a regular basis to visit family/friends, and I have no doubt that we'll be staying here again in the future.
We had a great time staying at Hidden Ridge. Teresa had everything ready to go when we arrived and all we really had to bring was clothes, food, and water. We also brought a cast iron skillet so we could cook over the fire, but there is a charcoal grill there also. There’s no electricity on the property so you’ll also want to bring a headlamp or lantern in the event it’s raining and you can’t use the tiki torches. The property itself is really unique and situated up on a ridge overlooking the lake. We loved sitting out by the fire overlooking the lake. The tent itself is super welcoming and my wife definitely appreciated the actual bed in it. On one of the rainy afternoons we played a board game in the tent and still had a great time. The shower and bathroom were great to have and hot running water was definitely a camping luxury. We would highly recommend staying here and have already told several friends about it!
Hidden Ridge private campground is a truly unique camping experience that is a rare find in Illinois. This secluded private campground is located at the end of a one-lane gravel road that leads right to Otter Lake. There are no neighbors nearby and you're entirely surrounded by beautiful midwest forest (mostly walnut and oak trees). We were specifically searching for a place we could bring our 2 dogs and 3 kids and wouldn't have to worry about other campers nearby. This place did not disappoint- as the nearest person was all the way on the other side of the lake.
We also wanted a place where we wouldn't need to bring a tent. This site already has a beautiful canvas tent set up. It's built on a wood deck that includes both a front and back porch. Inside the tent there is a queen bed and table and chairs. Both the front and back porch also have seating- and the backporch overlooks the lake.
Outside of the tent is a seperate washing station, complete with HEATED running water! There is a kitchen sink, toilet, and shower area. The kitchen area is stocked with all the necessities needed for outdoor cooking and dining. The camp host provides coolers and a lock box as well. They advertise as a place where you "just need to bring food and drinking water". I recommend also bringing a cast iron if you're hoping to cook on the campfire. We came in the fall and the evenings were quite chilly- so I'd also suggest bringing extra bedding.
The place was AWESOME!!!! Very beautiful private peaceful secluded site, but very modern and efficient ammentities, We loved it!!! and will go back soon. The hosts were also wonderful People! loved the tent the showers the outdoor kitchem and the toilet !!
Place has character and class but is still a primitive camping feel!!!

Came here for my birthday. Terri was so helpful and responsive! The site is beautiful, cozy, and comfy. The kayaks were amazing too!! Overall a great trip and we would come again!
My friends and I celebrated a bachelor party at this site. It was very nice to have running water as well as a bathroom and shower. The outdoor kitchenette had everything we needed for cooking meals. I would definitely come back to this site!
I loved everything about it, we had everything we needed, it was so peaceful, relaxing, which is what we were in need of, I will be returning, to enjoy this beautiful place again….

Hidden Ridge - at Otter Lake
We had a great time at Teresa's little hideaway. The queen size bed was perfect for our 78-year-old Nana. She doesn't do well, understandably, in a sleeping bag or on an air mattress. There was plenty of room for the other eight of us to pinch four tents. All the essentials were provided and the shower and the flushing toilet might have spoiled me for life when camping. There was a problem one day with the water. I emailed Teresa and her husband was out within the hour to do a quick fix. A+ for customer service. I was a little bummed there was no swimming at the lake but we went down and rented kayaks and that was a lot of fun for the kiddos. Long driveway is great for throwing a football or riding dirt bikes and I will definitely bring my own kayaks. We would definitely come back again.

This is a wonderful "glamping" spot! We will be returning. Everything was thought out and comfortable.
We had a wonderful weekend at Hidden Ridge. Theresa has thought of everything and all we needed to bring was clothes, food, and some drinking water. The tent was spacious, with room for our two kids to sleep on cots while we took the bed. The kitchen area had dishes, silverware, cups, etc. And what a treat to have a toilet and shower on site. We had an amazing time and are already thinking about our next trip back.
This was my 5th "glamping" experience and by far the absolute best. The attention to details and the cleanliness made for a relaxing time. A perfect romantic weekend!
What a great place to get away too. Surrounded by hickory and oak trees, even the rain barely makes it to the ground. Multiple mushrooms of different varieties covering the forest floor. Site was clean and very comfortable. Great fishing lake, with or without watercraft. We caught largemouth, hybrid, crappie and panfish at all points of the day. On top of all of this, a pre-pitched tent with an actual bed! Don't hesitate if you are looking for something in this area.
This place was so special. Everything was so thoughtfully planned. Even though it rained the whole time we were there it didn’t take away from how romantic it was. We will never forget our stay. Thank you Teresa!
