Perfect distance from Austin to get away from all the sound and light, yet not annoyingly far, and it's a gorgeous drive. I loved this spot so much and can't wait to visit again. Site 3 was fantastic.
I had no trouble finding the spot at sunset. Here's how: take a screenshot of the map during site selection with your chosen spot. Find it on Google Maps. Drop a pin at the road leading towards the site, and another at your site. I found the site and fire ring straight away.
The road leading towards the sites isn't paved. It starts as a dirt road and becomes a 2 track pretty quickly. The 2-track road turns to ultra soft, squishy red clay soil. You'll cross 2 cattle guards. The center of the 2 track was pretty bushy.
I was able to get along in a Subaru Impreza without any trouble, but I could feel the car swimming in the soil 2-track road a little bit along the way and I was catching brush along the center line the entire way. No problems with AWD though. I would seriously question going back here alone without AWD, and if it's wet I'd want mud tires, true 4x4 and maybe even a winch. There was evidence of some pretty slippery mud pit road action, but my visit was dry and dusty.
I had 5G coverage with AT&T at the site, so I just turned the phone off :)
There was nobody around and it was super quiet in terms of human noise!
Right at nightfall the coyotes started howling, it was like 360 degrees around. They are everywhere.
Two pickups went past heading to the farm in the early evening, and there were a couple distant noises of gates closing and equipment moving for about an hour, but that was it.
Later in the night there was another coyote party and maybe fox too. There are also cattle wandering around. And of course all the other creatures out there.
I love this spot because it's super dark, there are practically no human noises and it felt like there was nobody around at all, site 3 was big and flat and there was a good fire ring to use. 5/5 for me. I'd recommend an AWD vehicle, a rooftop tent, and an adventurous spirit.

Extremely easy to find, pulled right in and popped up the rooftop tent. Very private, very quiet, and I listened to some distant coyotes. The stars were incredibly bright. One of my favorite spots now to overnight when I'm heading in or out of Texas!
