Site 2: Cedar Grove
in The Howling Woods, MaineHad a great time!
Camping at the Howling Woods was great. The tent area was flat and wood chipped, which made for a nice sleeping surface. Picnic table and benches were nice and sturdy. The water from the well was clean and refreshing.
Burns Farm
in Burns Farm, New YorkGreat location for shows in bethel
Matt was very nice, and the property is very close to the Bethel Woods venue. Perfect spot to crash after a show.
However, communication from the host was lacking, and directions to the house were not clear.
We asked about 3-4 hours in advance if a certain time would work for our arrival, to which we got no response. We didn't end out getting in contact with anyone until an hour after the official check-in time. Luckily, we still had time to make it to the show, but it could have been a bigger issue if we were more tight on time.
We were only there for a night, so did not need to have a fire, but we did not see a firepit around to use if we wanted. The hose was turned off overnight as well, so we were unable to refill on water in the morning.
Brook Site 1
in The Land Kindred, MaineClean + next to a beautiful river
Great camping spot! Adjacent to a river on a nice property, and only 30 minutes outside of Portland.
We mainly spoke with Elk, who was very kind and helpful.
The hill to get down to the campsite is a bit steep, so it was a *little* tough to carry all our things down there, but very nice once you're all set up. As the very first guests at this hipcamp, the outhouse, picnic tables, and walking paths were brand new and super clean.
There are a few separate campsites, all spaced as far apart as your average public campsite. Not the *most* private site I've ever had, but still very comfortable. We were the only guests though, so had no issues with privacy ourselves.
It was nice to take a plunge in the river and watch the birds in the morning.
Kelleyâs corner
in Kelleyâs corner, MassachusettsGreat location for cape camping
Easy to find and a great spot on the Cape. Only 10mins to the Salt Pond National Seashore center, and an easy drive to Chatham, P-Town, and anywhere in between.

Had a great time at this Eva's Hipcamp.
Checked off all the basics I love in a camping spot: a picnic table, a *clean* porta-potty, a big useful outdoor sink, and the firepit had a cooking grate that swings over the top of the fire.
Our car camping situation did not turn out as planned, and Eva was extremely accommodating and helped us out of an equipment jam.
OakGrove Sheep & Goat farm
in OakGrove Sheep & Goat farm, New HampshireWe had a great time at the OakGrove Goat and Sheep Farm!
The animals were very cute, and we appreciated the access to the refreshing water spring. Kevin has two pairs of Himalayan Monal pheasants that were very beautiful. The location is convenient to Wolfeboro/Lake Winni, and it took us about 45 minutes to get into the White Mountains.
It was pretty tough to get up into the driveway in my Subaru Outback, so if you're arriving in a smaller sized car, you may have an extra tough time crossing the rocks and mud to get up the hill.
Most of the property is on a steep hill, so while Kevin was kind enough to let us camp wherever we wished, the only real available spot to pitch a tent was at the very bottom of the hill, closer to the road. Any trips between the tent/car/spigot also involved going up and down the hill, with a lot of wood, thickets, and farming materials lying around, waiting to be tripped on in the dark.
Catskills Mountain/Creek/Forest
in Lexington: Mountain, Creek, Art, New YorkOpen fields or forest camping
in Open fields or forest camping, VermontMichael was very friendly and helped out by getting a bonfire going for me! Spot I pitched my tent on was flat and soft. Got chased by the farm turkeys but that's part of the Hipcamp fun!
Hemp fields were a little stinky and the generator that was used to maintain the greenhouse was noisy - and this was in addition to being able to hear VT-16. Would not suggest if you're looking for a super quiet location - but still beats a campground in my eyes.

in Draco Hill Nature Farm, IowaSite 5 - Mountain Valley Camping Retreat
in The Upper Farm, MaineGreat place to stay! We were greeted when we arrived and received a short walk around the farm to see our options for where we could pitch the tent, as well as an introduction to the alpacas and pigs. The only amenity was a small bathroom available to use, but we were set up on the other side of the farm so didn't end out utilizing it. Great spot for secluded camping, would definitely recommend.
