. Twisted Oaks is located on 21 acres of tree lined Texas Hill Country nestled in the heart of San Marcos. . The campsites are well spaced and several have large oak tree canopy/shade, Campers may choose their own site based on availability. We encourage campers to purchase our firewood, we will make sure you have what you need at a fair price. Please be respectful. This is my home (35 years) I do not need any help redecorating or rearranging. Treat it as you would want your home treated by a guest. No tobacco if you choose to smoke do it in your vehicle. I work from my home, My workspace is separated from campsites and is off limits for your own safety. Campfires are tied to weather, strong wind low humidity and dry conditions will be considered when allowing permitted fires.... cook stoves are ok. We want our guests to enjoy and create lifelong memories...good vibes only.

1968 Airstream Tradewind

94% (9)
Airstream · Sleeps 4 · 2 beds · 1 toilet
This is a 25 foot fully customized unit. This is not a hotel room or a new Rv. What we have is a 50 plus year old time machine. The A/C works fine but please don't overdo it. We want to share this with as many campers as possible. If you are used to having your A/C on super high to bring a chill to the air this may not be the right choice, but if you want to be comfortable this will work fine Sorry no pets in airstream they are welcome at campground just not in trailer The restroom is camp rainwater flush. You are welcome to bring an emergency indoor unit This is the simple camp toilet. Water is store bought (5 gal) with an cordless pump that is easy to use. This is simplicity and not glamping. You can bring your own camp stove or use our 2 burner stove for small meals and coffee. Small dorm fridge is available to keep your food/drinks cold.  The bed is a 6" foam single mattress plus a separate fold out couch to futon bed. I will be adding photos. If you have any question feel free to reach out.

Twisted Oaks is located on 20 acres of tree lined Texas Hill Country nestled in the heart of San Marcos . We have 10 main campsites named white, purple, green, orange red, blue ,and yellow. White and yellow are the premier sites. White has a picnic table under a large oak tree mulch tent site table chairs and a beach lounger and a porcelain sink to wash hands or dishes. White as well as all sites has a rock lined fire pit. Yellow was the first site I built and has a large firepit surrounded by large boulders to sit on and enjoy the warmth Yellow also has a large oak tree to shade your tent site There is a large table and dry sink to wash dishes This is private Property for those of you who are new to hipcamp. This means you may or may not have other camping neighbors but the land is owner occupied. This is a NATURAL area with all that goes with that. We want people who still appreciate places that society has not destroyed. Please do not expect a KOA type place. This is San Marcos Texas, gateway to the hill country and full of all that the hill country offers. If you are new to this area I suggest doing some research or reach out with your concerns. If you have toddlers please reach out for all question and concerns before you book. I take a lot of pride in the 35 years of work I have put into this land. We expect all our guests to treat her in kind. If you have a large group please be aware that you can rent nearby camp sites to create one large venue for for family or friends. 20 acres allows for lots of options. Let me know what you are looking for and together we will make it work. The camp sites are well spaced to allow for privacy The theme and consistent thread that weaves through the fabric of camp is simplicity and attention to the land. We use rainwater for showers and also have a composting porta john. The rules are simple if you pack it in pack it out. We discourage collecting of firewood. Snakes tend to hang out in brush piles and do not like to be disturbed. We sell firewood at a reasonable cost better than box store. If you want to recycle aluminum cans we have a bin for those Each campsite has a nice rock fire pit with an inner ring and cooking grates. We also provide a table. We have two new additions to camp. The first is reserved for large groups Also a 1969 Airstream that we will rent for $ per night. Please inquire for booking details These are custom built units and are by no means meant to replace the amenities of a hotel room. The attraction would be privacy and country quiet.

Peaceful pasture (large groups)

RV/tent site · Sleeps 12 · Vehicles under 45 ft
This site is for group bookings only. Must be 10 or more please reach out for any additional guests. . Peaceful pasture is a separate campsite on my 20 acre ranchette. There are other dispersed campsites. This site is as the title indicates for larger groups. It is separated from the other sites. It has a simple but effective composting outhouse. I have two small firerings for campers and a larger burn pit. This is for use by agreement with me only. I have a propane grill but you will have to supply the propane. It is in good shape but has not been used by campers so I can't vouch for how it works. If you plan to use a bbq pit to cook I strongly advise you bring one or contact me . all the rules of camp apply here all dogs must be leashed, no gathering of firewood basically treat my property with respect.

Camping on John's land offers a peaceful retreat with plenty of nature to enjoy. Most visitors rave about John's friendly and accommodating nature, creating a welcoming atmosphere. While some mention the presence of equipment on-site, it seems to be a minor note amidst the overall positive experiences. Campers appreciate the unique amenities like disc golf and the proximity to San Marcos.
