Weekend Trip to Cascades at Waterloo

We absolutely love Waterloo, been going for a few years now and keep watching it grow, with new camp sites, creeks, and waterfalls to explore. We normally camp by the pavilion but next time we'll pick out a new spot. Took a ride with Alice and Nathan to see all the new land and camping areas and took a dip in the water at the Beaver Hole... We always have a blast. Alice and Nathan are wonderful people, great host. Definitely a place to book for a vacation!

2 nights at Cascades at Waterloo

We had an absolute blast staying at the cliffside site. Plenty of room for the two of us, adequately shaded, with a beautiful view down to the river. We took the trail around the peninsula along the creek, and saw some pretty cool stuff! I counted at least 10 different species of mushroom, and countless vegitation and wildlife. We peeped the other camp sites on our hike, and want to try camping the dispersed sites too. The hosts were fantastic as always. They had a wood pile at the site for us when we arrived, on request. Having the port a potty near by was a plus, and it was clean, stocked, and even had a nice lamp hung for some light. Its a short walk to the waterfalls and those speak for themselves, just incredible. We will definitely be back!!

Tent camping was AWESOME along the creek!! Beautiful dispersed campsites, gorgeous swimming hole and views!! Alice is a great host, very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back!!

Weekend Trip to Waterloo Falls

Loved camping on Alice’s property. It was such a beautiful site, our boys enjoyed exploring the river and swimming next to the waterfalls. We stayed over 4th of July weekend, so it was busy with the day visitors, but they do a great job giving the campsite privacy. The campsite is private, it’s easy to find, and Alice was a great host.

Belle and Beau was an exquisite place with wonderfully private campsites. We loved site number 1! The creeks and waterfall were breathtaking and Christine was amazing and the best host. We killed our battery and Christine and her partner can't to our rescue. We don't have enough space for all the words to express our great weekend camping...

What a great campsite! The whole acreage is very clean and well-organized. Christine's communication is amazing and the shady sites are perfect for summer camping. We'll be back again for sure!

2 nights at Waterloo Falls

We absolutely loved our stay at Waterloo! The falls are gorgeous, the campsite was clean and tidy (and right next to the water!), and use of the flush restroom and shower was great. Great vibe, and Alice was so kind! Only hiccup was they were doing yardwork (mowing) from about 8:30am-10am on our first morning there, sometimes really close to our camp site. Totally understand that they need to maintain the landscaping, but it was a bummer to be sipping coffee by the quiet stream and then be interrupted by the loud mower. That was the only thing that kept the experience from being perfect!

2 nights at Belle and Beau Acres

We really enjoyed our stay at belle and beau we stayed two nights unfortunately it rained on our second day there but did not deter us from enjoying our stay right on a brook as we stayed at camp site 2 a little bit of hike up hill on your way out but I am 56 and a little chunky just took a rest as needed. Only animals we saw were frogs and one snake not sure if it was a cotton moth or just water snake either way we was in the water and it avoided us so it’s all good. To make a long story short Christine has a wonderful place and I will definitely be back

Weekend Trip to Waterloo Falls

Alice is a fantastic host! The zen and breathtaking views made us add an additional night to continue enjoying it! We traveled with our two dogs and they couldn’t get enough of the waters and waterfall. We spent more time at the upper falls as it was easier swimming conditions for the pups. Alice was extremely helpful our entire stay and even gave us some insight for some additional views and hikes! The tent is stocked with everything you need. In fact, we brought too many things that were already provided. We can’t wait to come back! Has been one of my most enjoyable Hicamp stays so far!

Disconnect from everything! And get back to Nature!! All the fresh water! Swimming holes and plenty of creek beds to explore!! It rained while we were there but we barely noticed! Definitely pay extra for the big site!!!

Weekend Trip to The Slab (by the Barren)

Booked a site for 1 night for our campervan. It rained the whole ride there so we were unsure what would transpire when we arrived. Carrie was super kind and down to earth, helped accommodate us in a better spot as to avoid the mud and still be able to enjoy the amenities. Nice swimming hole. So many fireflies it looked magical at night. Would recommend!

We enjoyed the Christine’s land, it was very quite , peaceful environment along with short distance trails.

So this was my 1st camping trip. I’m glad we chose to do it here on Christine’s land. It was a beautiful property with plenty of privacy. There are trails and parks close by to visit. I can’t recommend this place enough. 5 stars!

Everything was excellent. The place is very well maintained.

The Slab (by the Barren)

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are broken hearted to announce that we will be closing our doors at midnight on July 13th 2025. We want to thank everyone that has came out to the farm over the past five years and supported us. It was a genuine pleasure to have the opportunity to meet each and every one of you, and to share our beautiful family farm with you, your families and friends. We will be refunding anyone with reservations after the 13th of July 2025 and hope that you all can find another hidden gem like ours, and continue to enjoy and make memories in the great outdoors. Thank you so much for all of your amazing support, reviews, and recommendations over the years. Our hipcampers are what made The Slab such an amazing place, and we are truly sorry that things didn't work out to where we could stay open. Kent and I are still looking into other options as to how we could move forward in the future with the part of the farm that we still own. So stay tuned for announcements for 2026. A short list of what to expect on site includes: PRIVACY - ADVENTURE - GETAWAY Quick response time/Clear communication Spacious, shady, leaf-bed campsites 360 degree views of relaxing nature 27 Foot Waterfall (365 days of flow except during severe drought) Rock shelter under Ledge Waterfall Two shallow lazy rivers for soaking Hiking trails onsite Multiple spring-fed creeks Countless water cascades for exploring Star gazing over wide pastures Old forests for ample shade and hammock hanging Cellular reception at campsites (usually at least 1 bar) Please read the site descriptions carefully to match your style of camping with the appropriate campsite. BBA guests frequently camp with a tent, vehicle, smaller camper, hammock tent, roof top tent, pop-up camper and similar styles. Most photos in this listing are taken onsite. Please keep in mind this is primitive and wild Tennessee landscape that may also contain poisonous plants and wildlife in or around camp. Access to fresh water fun is a short down-hill hike for all guests, with the exception of our hike-in campsites which are positioned alongside the river. Each spot has been strategically selected to provide as much privacy as possible, and comfortably accommodates groups with two vehicles. We provide a rock fire pit and heavy-duty, cast-iron grill grate. You provide everything else, including drinking water and personal toilet waste bags if you plan to use our system. The hike-in sites come with extra seating. Every guest must be included on your reservation, and adult guests may be required to provide identification. Thank you! COMMUNITY COMFORT STATION: There is a comfort station with an outdoor shower stall for hanging your own solar shower bag. The comfort station also includes a changing room which doubles as a private place to use your portable camping toilet. A toilet seat and bucket system is provided but guests will need to use their own waste disposal bags, available at most camping supply stores. The backside of the comfort station has a rain barrel (not potable) collection system for extinguishing fires. OFF-ROAD CONDITIONS: Due to the primitive nature of our location, all reservations should expect hilly terrain and potential bumpy or some muddy road access, especially after heavy rain. We ask all guests to help us minimize impacts by driving with care. Vehicles with low ground clearance or low-profile tires are no longer permitted to use the off-road drive and must park at the entrance. If you want a campsite with the shortest walk from the entrance parking area, you will want to select campsite 5, 9 or 6. When the road is open during unusually wet periods, we recommend AWD or 4WD as a precaution. We are continuously working on improvements for our off-road drive. Belle and Beau Acres is a farm homestead with a personal campground, conveniently located less than five minutes from I40. Expect nothing short of 360 degree views of relaxing nature, privacy, and spontaneous adventure when recreating at this agritourism location. Central to the most beautiful middle Tennessee destinations, BBA is the perfect home base for hiking, biking, kayaking, and fishing excursions to at least 10 nearby state parks and lakes. Waterloo Falls

The Property: Located north of Cookeville in the rolling hills and farmland, our property is on Spring Creek, a state scenic river. Situated between two waterfalls and featuring over half a mile of river frontage to explore. Float, fish and relax listening to the cascading water. Perfect for bird watchers- blue and green herons, ospreys, hawks, bald eagles and more. You may spot the creek critters- minks, beavers, and otters. Various types of bass, craw dad's and minnows are in the creek. We operate similar to a state park. We are open to the public from 10am-7pm, peak season. We have other listings that are spaced so each of our guests has privacy. Please see aerial photo for an overview. We sometimes have small events (birthday parties, ect) at the pavilion. Please feel free to message us first, if you would like to see if there are any events during your stay. There are 2 restrooms centrally located at the pavilion. One bathroom has a shower with hot water, soap, shampoo/conditioner included. The restrooms are shared with our other listings. There are USB and regular outlets in the pavilion and WiFi. During warm season the outdoor kitchen is available as well. We also rent out a Suite which is located above the pavilion. Quiet hours are 10pm-8am. Pets are welcome as long as they are leashed and picked up after. Please note there is a gun range 2 hollers away and depending on the season, it can be heard from our property. Tent in the Trees Listing: Your tent site is built above the trail and overlooking the creek. The tent is equipped with a queen bed, linens, extra blankets & essential cooking gear. There is a fire pit with grill and griddles for cooking over wood or charcoal. Really, all you need is clothes, food and drink! Primitive Camp Site: The rustic camp site is DIY. It is 300' from pavilion, and 600' from Tent in the Trees. We provide a picnic table and fire pit You bring all the rest of your gear. Typically, you may park next to your campsite. No RV's, converted vans are permitted. If you have a very small camper, please message us to see if we can accommodate. There are no hookups, and no loud generators allowed. Quarter Spring Farm

Quarter Spring Farm is located in Liberty, TN on the western edge of the Cumberland Plateau. It comprises 63 acres of wooded ridges and hollows with exceptional hiking and distinct landscape features. Smith Fork Creek, which feeds Center Hill Lake, is visible from the campsite. Quarter Spring Farm’s history is murky and still being discovered. The house is over 100 years old. There are stone property walls that may predate the civil war. We believe this site was a Mississippian period settlement because of the large amount of artifacts we have found. Please note: there is no electricity at the dome. There will be a battery with a light and the option to charge your phone. There is no parking at the dome. The walk is uphill and takes about 5 minutes or so. This is still a tent, the dome is not insulated and is not 100% sealed. Bugs do get inside from time to time. I will also provide you with water for cleaning and at least a gallon to drink. Just let me know if you need more. If you can get here before it gets dark, that is the best. If you can’t, that’s ok, we’ll just be hiking in the dark. Luckily I know my way around pretty good.

Mountainview Rock Island rv/tent

Little Bone Cave campground is in the mountains of Tennessee with hiking trails and a beautiful view located on 16 acres. This campground adjoins Bone Cave State Natural Area located in Van Buren County. Big Bone Cave is a 400 acre natural area with trails and a cave that contained bones of a giant ground sloth discovered in 1811 and is maintained by Rock Island State Park. The cave is not currently open to the public. Rock Island State Park (swimming, fishing and hiking) is only 6 miles from the campground and Fall Creek Falls State Park (swimming, fishing, hiking and home of the Annual Mountaineer Folk Festival) is a beautiful 25 mile drive through the winding roads and mountains of Van Buren county. A public boat ramp maintained by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is two miles away to access the Caney Fork River. Come enjoy with friends and family. Campsite #1, "Valley View" is a Rv with 30 amp electric with sewer and water or it can be a primitive campsite that is a wide open space and is approximately 1-2 acres with a beautiful view overlooking the valley below. We do have electric, sewer and water 340 gl tank with a hose, a picnic table and a fire ring at this site. if you'd prefer, you can locate a spot of your choosing off the beaten path anywhere within our 16 acres (ask the hostess for details). We now have rv hook up with a 30 amp electric service, sewer and water available. We have wildlife such as bobcats, coyotes, deer, owls, snakes, turkeys and rumor has it, maybe even a bigfoot. I hope you come enjoy friends, family and nature to make this an incredible experience.

Chatty Heifer Farm

We bought it in 2018 and have been renovating it to build a retreat center for first responders and others who serve unselfishly. Originally established in the late 1970s by the Army Corps of Engineers, this campground served as a beloved retreat until funding issues led to its closure in the late 1980s. After years of neglect, it was revitalized in the early 2000s when Jean Harden secured a grant to breathe new life into the site. Leasing the land from the USACE, she successfully reopened the campground, creating a welcoming space for outdoor enthusiasts. In 2018, we took over the campground, excited to continue its legacy. The breathtaking wildlife and lush trees captivated us from the start, and we quickly grew fond of the warm and welcoming community in Middle Tennessee. Our campground offers a serene escape, complete with ample privacy and beautiful natural surroundings.
