Overview

About

Fort Sisseton Historic State Park is named after the Sisseton Indian Tribe, and it features a historic fort and charming grounds that give visitors a glimpse into the region’s history. Back in the day, this area was a frontier army outpost, and the plentiful drinking water from the lake combined with tons of trees for timber and fuel made it an attractive basecamp. Nowadays, it’s more about fun than fortification. There’s a boat launch, canoe and kayak rentals, various historical festivals and activities… and of course, camping. The campsites here are relaxing and spacious, so get ready to stretch out!

When to go
