Just down the road from the historic Oregon Country Fair grounds, there is a moss covered forest with friendly folks welcoming you to stop off and rest. Nights are quiet with faint to no road noise or light pollution. The driveway and grounds are flat with safe gated parking space for cars/vans and small-med sized trailers, tents etc. It is our pleasure to offer you a safe space to camp with your friends and family. Learn more about this land: Mosswood is on 5 acres of mostly forested land, there's usually a project going (or three). We've recently finished building a barn workshop, a covered timber frame deck in the meadow, and a very unique woven tree net that you'll be sure to enjoy! No dogs living here, just one friendly cat, otherwise it's squirrels, birds, and the occasional wild turkey procession or coyote. There is a large garden, and when growing season is on, we may send you packing with some fresh greens or veggies! If you see us out and about, feel free to come say hello or ask questions. We love sharing good conversations and ideas about how to live well and stay excited about all things. Towns/Activities nearby: Veneta/Elmira are charming small rural towns with all the basics less than 10 min drive: Grocery Outlet, Bi-mart, Ace hardware, Auto parts, some decent restaurants. Fern Ridge Lake is 10 minutes down the road for walking trails, boating and paddling, plenty of other outdoor activities nearby. Eugene is 25 min, and the beautiful Oregon coast is 45 min drive if you want to smell the ocean air and visit Florence.

Octopus Garden

Octopus Garden is a seaside cottage set up on sand dunes along the central Oregon coast. This is a classic retro 1950s cottage with spectacular front-row views of the Pacific Ocean, shoreline, and beach. Since it is just two doors down from beach access, beach exploration here is endless, with golden-brown fine sand, no insects, and no litter. As this is one of the more remote stretches of the western seaboard, there are no high-rise hotels or condos—just cabins spaced apart, offering a unique feeling of being almost alone with the vast ocean and shoreline. Wildlife is abundant, including birds and sea creatures. I have personally seen seals, and guests have reported seeing whales passing by while staying at the cottage. Eagles are also frequently seen soaring overhead and landing on the beach. Horseback riding is available nearby, including beach rides, as well as abundant hiking trails, especially around Cape Perpetua. Numerous scenic trails can also be spotted while driving along Highway 101 from Florence to Yachats. The beautiful Heceta Head Lighthouse and Keeper’s Quarters are perched on a cliff near the cottage and are stunning in both location and architecture. Volunteers are often available to provide information and short tours. The Sea Lion Caves offer a unique opportunity to observe sea lions safely in their natural habitat. Visitors can view them through glass and learn about their behavior. There is also a gift shop offering a variety of items for all ages. Yachats has a fun, welcoming vibe with charming shops and great places to eat. One favorite is “Just Local,” which sells handmade crafts and kitchen goods with local style and flair. Another favorite is Luna Sea Fish House, known for fresh daily-caught seafood in a lively atmosphere. I once had lunch there while being entertained by a musician playing cello and other string instruments. Florence, Oregon also offers numerous shops and restaurants, primarily in the historic Old Town area along the Siuslaw River. My favorite restaurant in Florence is the Waterfront Depot. The food and drinks are excellent, and the service is outstanding.

Very small backyard campground on the outskirts of Veneta. Urban camping at its best—clean, welcoming, and comfortable. Four sites to choose from with friendly, helpful hosts. There is a communal camp toilet, propane BBQ, large cooler, and fire pit. Additionally, enjoy access to a walking trail in the wetlands behind the property. Chill spot—less of a “wellness and meditation” thing, more like a hippies, bongs, hacky sacks and vibes. Parking is located outside the campground area. Pets are welcome, but the campground is strictly adults-only. Ask about the sauna tent for hot yoga or just a good sweat. We can also provide a cold plunge, and there may be access to a hot tub and pool table for additional fees. Country Fair Weekend we will offer rides to and from the fair twice a day for a 10$ fee each way. It is a 2mile+ walk that takes about an hour. We also offer rides to local wineries, and we have a paddle boat and life jackets available to rent for Fern Ridge. We even deliver and pick them up afterward!

Relax and revive in this artistic 'cabin' with wonderful views of historic Glenn Creek from every room. An architectural dream, you enter this lodge style home through a pivoting hobbit style front door with hardware from the 1800's. Highlights of this original home include a gourmet kitchen with labradorite granite counters, 800 year old juniper tree spiral stair case, huge beams and exposed rafters, a sauna, and a romantic wood stove. Also each upstairs bedroom has a hanging bed with three 8 foot skylights above for indoor star gazing. Original artworks from local artists are throughout the home. Many pleasantries await the curious such as embedded fossils in the cracked mud walls.Nestled amongst towering fir and cedar trees, with windows everywhere, you'll feel and see nature's presence. This home site has a remarkably peaceful way about it. Recently featured in Southern Oregon Magazine and KCBY 11 TV's ~In Focus~ 'Goin' Green' and Oregon's Solar Home Tour, this is a unique 'green' home. This home was built with environmentally friendly materials. Building with little impact on the surroundings was very important to us during construction. The myrtle hardwood floor in the kitchen and living room was milled on site which came from trees that stood where the house is now. Same story for the beautiful maple flooring in the ½ bath. All of the large beams and fir flooring came from two 4' thick 104 year old douglas fir trees which also stood and were milled where the house is now. The fir trees sprouted after the last forest fire that came through the canyon. One of our neighbors fell a sixty five year old redwood that was over six feet thick! We used some of it as a wonderful wainscot paneling throughout the house. All of the finishes used are no or low VOC. Surrounding the house is native vegetation, huge trees and a few herbs and spices for cooking. You'll enjoy the fully equipped kitchen with labradorite granite counters. The kitchen island has a new five burner gas stove with a convection oven and warming oven. The island has plenty of granite and wood counter space. Hanging from the exhaust hood are stainless, non-stick, and cast iron cookware. We also provide shade grown fair trade coffee and a grinder, espresso machine, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, utensils, chef knives, glasses and frosty cocktail glasses in the freezer. The dining room table has a river view and can seat six comfortably. There is also seating for three at the island bar. From the kitchen you can visit with the folks in the living room thanks to the open floor plan. Beside the wood stove are two chairs and the futon couch with reading lamp. A CD changer, TV with a DVD player and VHS machine are in the downstairs bedroom. Bring your favorite videos or browse our selection of movies. The property has 150 feet of creek frontage with great views of Glenn creek, the forest and distant cliffs. Enjoy wildlife viewing with River Dippers, Chipmunks, Kingfishers, Great Blue Herons, Screech Owls, Pileated Wood Peckers, Elk, an occasional Bald Eagle or River Otter and other wildlife from the house and back deck. Build a fire and have lunch on the nearby picnic table and benches.
