A small stream runs through the property and forms a rocky delta in Red Bank Creek. All camp sites are on the eastern border and close to the main road to access property. Hike, enjoy the sound of the stream tickling through property, stargaze, or rest, watch nature's critters, read or just relax in a hammock. No hunting on property but fishing permitted along "river" aka Red Bank Creek. Please keep fires in firepit and noise levels low. Set up to be most natural, minimal mowing, and sites meant to be more private. We let you know if you have others on property. No running water or flush toilets on sites unless in your self-contained camper. A compost loo provided. Lots of kindling can be easily gathered for a fire. We have 2 camp sites ready right now both come with a fire pit. One is more secluded which is campsite #2 and the one with the valley view is campsite #1. Showers are seasonal. The last day for shower use is Oct 15th. You’re more than welcome to bring your own portable shower hook up and use the shower house for privacy. We apologize for any inconvenience. You will need to have a cigarette lighter access to use the shower to power the pump. We recommend bringing flashlights as our property is solar powered and there is no electric on the property. On low sunny days, solar lights may not last as long into the evening. On rainy days the property can be very muddy and access to the top of the hill to the sites would be best accessed with a 4WD vehicle as well as winter time with snow on the ground. If you'd like to charge your phone we advise you to bring back up battery packs as there is now electric hook ups on site. The most private sites are Cloud 9, Bunny Pit and Lilou's Landing. The cottage is located down by the main house and not at the top of the hill. Pets are welcome, please clean up after your dog. * No firearms or explosive devices of any kind are allowed on the property.

This was the perfect little space to get away from life in the winter. The little propane heater was enough to warm up the space in the middle of the night and early morning. I didn't have the right gear to hike in the snow but I will be back to try out the trails in the spring! There was plenty of fire wood and a solo stove which we didn't really use but I appreciate that it was available. Also the hosts were very friendly and offered extra lights and things to make my stay more cozy. I will most definitely be back with better gear ❤️ Thank you again for making this quiet space available for people to get away from the busy world!

5/5 stars. If I had one word to describe it would be cozy. Ben is a great host. The cabin has nice privacy and it has everything you need utility wise. You are tucked away against a large creek if you like water activities. Nearby hiking trails. Check out the butcher shop in Sheffield if you like to grill!

3 nights at Neal Homestead Camp Sites

The cabin is by a stream and a magical patch of woods. There were plenty to explore and my friend and I had a great time. The pink trail was a great walk, but it was also fun to just follow along the creek if you don’t mind traversing back and forth the creek. Near the banks of the creek there were some interesting fungi. We also found a deer skull. It’s a hunting permitted area so depending on the time of year you would need high vis gear, which we didn’t have but used whatever we could find on walks. It’s also close to the lovely town of Brookville so that’s there for people who want a few hours on the town or ice cream. It’s a real no fuss place and yet it has everything you would need staying at a somewhat primitive cabin. Offers just enough shelter for people who want to spend time in nature in the winter but are not super hardcore about the weather/ doesn’t want to spend money on a lot of winter specific gear. The fireplace heats up the upstairs sleeping area really well. We were here during Christmas time, yet some nights we were sweating in our sleeping bags. Downstairs doesn’t heat up that well and if you’re bothered by it you’ll have to keep a flame going through the day. Host was communicative and attentive, someone came and checked on us at one point too. Plenty of firewood was ready for us. Only wish there was more potable water though, but we bought jugs of water ahead of time so it was never a problem. Overall a great time and definitely would come back.

Weekend Trip to Firefly Acres - Star Gazing Views

The cabin was nice. It had good heating, a nice bed, a nice bathroom, and it had lots of forms of entertainment. The cabin also had wifi and a flat screen tv you could stream on. The host was also very good with helping us if we were confused on anything. I definitely plan on staying here again.

An absolute gem of a site. The cabin itself had everything we needed. Was already warmed up for us upon arrival on a snowy evening and held heat well throughout our weekend. Ben gave us a great hiking recommendation that we took advantage of and it was just what we were looking for. Enjoyed our evenings by the campfire and morning coffee on the steps by the river. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. We are already planning our next trip out here!

Weekend Trip to The River Otter Den - Riverfront!

Amazing. From the view of the fall leaves and the Allegheny, to how nice the cabin was, to having a chimnied fire pit. Everything was perfect,. We usually do primitive sites, but I figured we could go glamping for once, and it was beyond anything I could expect. Meghan was super accommodating and a really nice host as well. 11/10 we'll definitely be back!

We loved that this cabin was both small/rustic/affordable and still outfitted with all the big amenities. The heat, bathroom, TV, and cooking appliances were all fantastic, the outdoor area was spacious and the view down the creek from it lined up perfectly with the sunset! Had a great weekend exploring ANF from here, thanks!

Easy check in. Beautiful property. I highly recommend this glamping experience to anyone. My friend and I split the Waggin Tails covered wagon and were blown away at how roomy and comfortable it was. The wood and easy start kindling that's provided was a lovely bonus. The coffee shop uses the most delicious beans. I made sure I bought a bag to bring home so my husband could taste them. I enjoyed myself so much that I bought a gift card as a Christmas gift for a family member so they can come experience this campground with their family.

3 nights at The Nest - Creekfront Cabin In ANF

HIGHLY recommend! Great location, not far from civilization but far enough away to get a BREAK! The Nest is a cute/comfy little cabin with everything you need! Even a crockpot which was great to have dinner cooking while we were out fishing! My favorite part of the location was there is no service or WiFi, you truly get to unplug and get away from the devices that take over our lives on a daily basis. Plenty of movies to wind down the night with. Ben and Ginny are great hosts, Ginny walked us through and told us everything we needed to know. The bedroom has air which was very helpful on the hot nights and kept the entire cabin cool. We were warned about a pesky little bird but didn’t have any issues nor did we have many concerns because we did put ourselves in the middle of the forest with the expectation we might encounter some animal friends!! We will 100% be back to the Nest! Hopefully a couple different times in the next year!

I have been staying at various HipCamp spots while driving across the country and this one is unique (in a good way)! The property is beautiful and the cabin is right next to the road so very easy to find/access. I enjoyed having both the fireplace and the composting toilet :). I would stay here again.

Beaver Meadows Recreation Area

Beaver Meadows Recreation area used to be a fully functional campground, but now is available for dry camping. It's fun to walk through the old campground that still has posts, picnic tables, and even a fenced in blueberry patch!

Handsome Lake Boat Access Campground

Spent a long weekend at this campground with my wife and Boxer Izzy. It was amazing! The only way to get to this campground is by boat or hike. My wife and I hiked in and set up camp right in the water. There was clean drinking water and a vault toilet. 5 stars!

Hearts Content Recreation Area and Campground

I have stayed at this campground a few times. It is located near the Hickory Creek Wilderness, a very lush 12.1 mile loop with backcountry sites. Hearts Content is a great place to stay the night before or after a backpacking trip. Firewood is available at the campground for $10 for a large bundle. Site 12 is a large wooded site with a lean-to. It is located near a toilet & water. Site was $14 is 2015.

Red Bridge Campground

We had an awesome time at Red Bridge Campground & ANF. We reserved sites 60 + 61. Site 60 was nice and grassy, offering a cozy spot for tents. Site 61 wasn't grassy and in fact was a little rocky (making it tough to get tent stakes in the ground), BUT it was about 30 feet from the amazing, beautiful reservoir, which made it all OK. :) The plenty of trees surrounding the site allowed for us to hang a dog runner line & some hammocks. It was pretty up-close and personal to site 62, which also has a small trail to the water. Our neighbors were cool, but next time we go with friends, we'll try try book 61 + 62 for proximity and privacy. We also took advantage of the North Country Nat. Trail, which was BEAUTIFUL and a great, challenging hike!

Willow Bay Campground

The sites directly on the bay (79 and higher I believe) are well worth the hike-in trek to the sites. You probably will have your own mini-beach on your site and the morning views and glass-like bay are irreplacable! Bring something warm to sleep in, these are well shaded spots and it tends to get a little chilly overnight. Ah, and bring your kayak - you won't regret it!

While the campground may not be secluded, Allegheny National forest is breathtaking. Just a few minutes away from some gorgeous hikes and views.

Willow Bay Campground

Camped here last year in site 53. The best sites are #66 & 68. They are prime sites with gorgeous views right on Willow Bay. Sadly, there's no hookups for the lake sites. Only the sites on the woods side have electricity. There are modern bathrooms with showers. There's other campgrounds in the Alleghenys, but I liked Willow Bay the best. The campsites are decently spaced. Like Tim S reported, the bears were rather aggressive last year. While we were there one ripped into a popup to get some buns inside. Always be bear aware!

Willow Bay Campground

Nice tent site camping just off the North Country Scenic Trail. Watch out for bears though! Hung our food way up a tree, but momma bear sent her two little cubs up there to get it. The bears are not shy of campers there and come daily for the buffet.
