The Viking longhall has been 9 years in the making by a group of semi serious Viking enthusiasts: the result is a 60 foot long building that has 18, 8,x4' sleeping berths. Set apart from the main open area it also boasts 2 meeting rooms and a kitchen. The campsite is a very peaceful place. Some go as far as to say a healing place! We are proud of what we have achieved and now want people to come out and enjoy it also. The field is close enough to the Appalachian highway (state route 32) for convenience, but far enough not to be bothered by it. The area is steeped in Native American culture. In fact, the world famous Serpent Mound is but 8 miles away, with many other Adena culture sites within easy driving distance. It's also in the heart of the Amish community. The area is known for its natural beauty with many hiking trails and canoeing opportunities. The area is awash in beauty and history from the ancient mound culture to the amish culture. The area has many hiking trails some of which are part of the buckeye trail and range in length from an easy 1 mile loop to rugged hikes of many miles. This is a camping cabin, in the middle of the Daniel Boone National Forest. If you are into primitive camping and living, then this is the right place for you! Many types of wildlife and critters may be encountered during your camping adventure. Deer, turkey, squirrel, snakes of different types, and lots of wood bugs inhabit the woods. We are about 85 acres, surrounded by hundreds of acres of national Forest, located about 2 minutes from the Sheltowee Trail, and approximately 30 minutes away from Cave Run Lake, and 30 minutes from Carter Caves State Park. The cabin is off grid, but has a generator for heat and Air conditioning. The outside toilet is close to the cabin and has a "Wash up" area. There is also an outdoor shower on the property just a short walk away, down behind the host's garage, that features hot water. A great place to relax and detach from the stress of society for a few days, or hike, hunt, or head over to Cave Run Lake for some fishing. Tranquility and peace await you here.

Our remote 375 acres part farm and part natural woodland nestled up to Daniel Boone Forest is ideal for hikers and nature lovers. There are several hiking trails onsite and plenty of woods to explore. ATVs or side by sides are welcome to be used on the main gravel roads and some designated areas of our property. There is plenty of wildlife but NO hunting is allowed. Some of our designated tent sites do have firepits and/or picnic tables. Our trek in sites do not have those options. Weekend Trip to Fruitdale Farm

My husband and I had a wonderful little get away for the weekend. We had a blast. The sugar Shack is a great location where you can simply unplug from the world and enjoy your time in nature and the company with you. Weekend Trip to Fruitdale Farm

Aimee is just the best host! Fruitdale farms is such a labor of love for her, you can tell as soon as you arrive. The cattail cabin is charming and cozy it sits right on the pond where the bull frogs sing you to sleep. Waking up there is nothing better than catching morning sun on the porch and taking a morning stroll with coffee around the property and Aimee’s beautifully done garden. I feel very lucky to have stayed here and sincerely can not wait to be back!

This cozy a-frame cabin has a full-sized bed with a comfy memory foam mattress. Clean bedding provided.

Weekend Trip to Fruitdale Farm

This was a well needed easy weekend to spend in nature! Aimee has curated such an amazing cozy space, the cabins are really special. We cooked good, ate good, drank good wine, and had many laughs around the fire late into the night. Walking around the property is a nice way to reconnect with yourself and spend time with friends. Aimee was a perfect host! Can’t wait to come back

Weekend Trip to The Viking Longhall

We stayed at the viking longhall and it was amazing. David was an amazing host and made sure everything was all set up and that we had everything that we needed. He came every morning amd brought us fresh hot coffee that was amazing. He was even a really good person to just sit there and have conversations with. The longhall was an awesome experience. So much to look at inside the hall and all the lighting inside was perfect and really helped set the atmosphere.

Weekend Trip to Fruitdale Farm

Cedar sanctuary was perfect! Very private spot with a clean, comfortable space to retreat to after hiking the trails right on the grounds, having a fire, etc. Lots of signage to help navigate and the property is really neat to hike around and see the gardens and more wooded areas. Aimee was super friendly and accommodating and it was a really great first experience with Hip Camp.

If you are looking for a place to disconnect from this super fast paced world and be active; look no further. Perfect long weekend getaway, super clean, lots of shade and a good cut out to view the stars. Plenty of local books to read or a huge hill to climb for a workout. Aaron was very friendly and inviting!

Weekend Trip to Whimsical Treehouses and Trails!!

We loved the atmosphere in the Love Bus, Shelly was a great host and helped us out with directions for the hiking trails. I would recommend it if you want to have a real outdoor experience (warning: there’s lots of bugs so you cannot be afraid of them to stay here!!) 😌

2 nights at Fruitdale Farm

I stayed at Little Fern cabin. It was my first time at Fruitdale Farm and I definitely plan on coming back. I had the entire place to myself since it was a rainy week, but I could imagine it with other campers there and I think it would still be a very peaceful place. This farm, and specifically the Little Fern cabin, was just exactly what I was looking for: a place where I could get some much-needed alone time, adequate shelter from the elements but still be mainly outdoors, and enough comfort so that I wasn't spending too much time doing all the work required when you're actually camping. LOVED the gazebo kitchen. Loved how organized and clear everything was. Loved how comfortable it was. Loved the fact that there were trails on the farm for an easy after-dinner walk, that there was a pond I could actually swim in, that there was fresh fennel growing with the herbs outside the kitchen, that there were various places at my site to sit and relax, and that the Arc of Appalachia land plus the Serpent Mound were so close by. Loved the drive in. On my first cool rainy night, I really enjoyed the sauna :) I just loved this place. Also, the salsa was delicious and I was excited to get introduced to fermented garlic honey too. Thanks so much and see you next time!

This place is amazing!!! Gorgeous, clean, one of the best hosts we have met in a long time. (If you like dnd, miniatures history and amazing stories just ask David my mind was blown and got to nerd out for a bit) We are already planning our next visit out! Oh yeah. And it’s also by serpent mound.

100% recommend! Brittany is awesome, and the cabin was perfect. There's tons of things to do in the area, but overall, if you're looking to unplug and get away, this is the place. Weekend Trip to Backwoods Hideaway

Perfect little cabin for us and our 2 pups. Plenty of outside space to run around and creek explore. My girls loved walking the creek the whole time. Plenty of dry firewood provided (thank you)! The “outhouse” was very clean and we appreciated the provided water for teeth brushing and hand washing. We would come back again for a quiet getaway.

Weekend Trip to The Viking Longhall

Our stay at the Viking Longhall was wonderful! We stayed with a small group of friends and, lucky for us, we basically had the place to ourselves for the weekend. We played in the creek and spent time around the fire. It's a really chill environment, and especially fun for a bunch of ren faire/DnD nerds like ourselves! We had the Creekside Cottage and our friends were in the Yurt. Both shelters were awesome. They provide tons of options for cooking and all the little things you might forget. My only regret is that we only had a few days! The grounds and Longhall are truly something to behold. Hearing about the history of the place made it even cooler! We can't wait to go back! Super close to Serpent Mound, also closeby are other sacred Native American sites, hiking areas and state parks, and more. Thanks, Dave, for the hospitality! Can't wait to meet Iveagh too next time!

Fruitdale Farms is a wonderful, charming little plot of land in some truly beautiful country. I had no idea that just a short distance from Cincinnati was so scenic. The Cedar Sanctuary was really nice, and a perfect weekend getaway. Firewood and the selection of reasonably priced homemade goods were also a great addition.

We loved staying here, what a blessing. The hosts are SO kind, and the cabin was clean upon arrival. The land is stunning. The cabin had everything we needed, and after our previously booked stay was cancelled due to wildfire smoke we were so beyond grateful to find it last minute! It was so affordable and the area around is stunning! Highly recommend hiking the trails at red river gorge.
