80+ acres all to yourself!! This beautiful and very secluded property, with river, kayaks, trails, and creeks is offered to only one group at a time to ensure peace, quiet, and seclusion. No other guests will overlap your stay. You will enjoy the peaceful solitude in nature completely alone! Sorry, children are not allowed. It's a great location for romantic getaways, silent personal retreats, yoga, playing in the river, or just spending quiet one-on-one time with your spouse or significant other. The last 1/2 mile of dirt road is a little rough, so cars with very low ground clearance are not recommended. Campers on Thunder Mountain enjoy the entire property by themselves - including the unique outdoor bathhouse with outdoor tub and shower, impressive multi-level decks, kayaks, grill, trails, hammocks, and tubes - without the cost of the cabin. The cabin on the property will be vacant during camping stays, but you can still enjoy the WiFi and other amenities outside. Set up camp by the cabin and bathhouse or hike your equipment down the stairs to the river. Pricing: $30-90/night camping; $190-280/night cabin - listed separately. Last minute bookings may have discounted rates. Camping bookings for 1 or 2 nights are sometimes available even if the calendar does not show availability (due to cabin cleaning days). So feel free to ask about dates you want and we'll try to move our cleaning days around to help you out.

Camp beside a private spring‑fed pond on a historic 1800s sawmill homestead overlooking the lowlands of the Little Missouri River. This land was chosen for its natural springs — still flowing today — that once powered the mill, filled the concrete water troughs, and fed the ponds below. Stay where Arkansas was being built, surrounded by quiet pasture, friendly goats, and the timeless beauty of a working hilltop homestead. Ranch & Retreat sits on a rare piece of Arkansas history. In the late 1800s, when this region was first being settled, the property was chosen as the site of a working sawmill. The hilltop offered a natural overlook of the lowlands near the Little Missouri River, where timber was harvested and milled for the surrounding towns. The land was selected for one reason above all: water. Natural springs flow from the hillside, feeding the mill, the homestead, and the ponds below. The original concrete water troughs still fill and overflow today — a living reminder of how early Arkansans used the land to survive and build. Before I‑30 cut through the area, the gravel road leading to the property was once Highway 67, the main route through this part of the state. Travelers, timber workers, and early settlers passed right by this homestead as Arkansas grew around it. If you’re looking for a quiet, private place to unwind under big Arkansas skies, this is it. Ranch & Retreat sits on a historic late‑1800s homestead surrounded by pasture, woods, and friendly goats. Guests come here for peace, stars, and the feeling of being tucked away on real rural land — not a crowded campground. You’ll have plenty of space to spread out, enjoy the breeze, walk the land, and relax beside your own spring‑fed pond. This is a simple, authentic, no‑frills country stay with a lot of heart and history. When you camp here, you’re not just pitching a tent — you’re stepping into a piece of the state’s early story.

The beautifully restored Perot Theatre stands out as a historic gem in downtown Texarkana, located at the intersection of 3rd and Main Street. Originally opened in 1924 as the Saenger Amusement Company’s “Gateway to the Southwest” theatre, this architectural marvel was fully restored by the City of Texarkana in 1979-80 and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The restoration was significantly funded by Texarkana natives H. Ross Perot and his sister Bette, through the Perot Foundation, in memory of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel Ross Perot. In honor of their generous contribution, the City Council renamed the venue the Perot Theatre. Today, it hosts the annual Perot Theatre Series and various events throughout the year. Another must-visit attraction in Texarkana is the Ace of Clubs House, a historic museum that showcases an Italianate Victorian design. Millwood Lake camping guide

Overview

About

Located in southwest Arkansas where the Little and Saline rivers meet, Millwood Lake is like that Pixar movie that everyone can enjoy. Fans of the area swear it has some of the best fishing in the country due to 35,000 acres of submerged timber that make excellent homes for many varieties of fish. Seriously though, we’re being a little modest. This lake has some of the best largemouth bass fishing in the nation, with a plethora of bass fishing tournaments and derbies to back up that claim.

Aside from being a holy grail for anglers, this is an excellent wildlife viewing spot featuring white-tailed deer, bobwhite quail, squirrel, dove, rabbit, raccoon, armadillo, opossum, fox, mink, and beaver. Picture that Noah’s Ark of animals frolicking among remarkable flora life such as gum, oak, birch, pine, juniper, flowering shrubs, and wildflowers. Aw heck, stop reading this. Just get in the car and go!

Tips for snagging a campsite
