The beautifully restored Perot Theatre stands out as a historic gem in downtown Texarkana, located at the intersection of 3rd and Main Street. Originally opened in 1924 as the Saenger Amusement Company’s “Gateway to the Southwest” theatre, this architectural marvel was fully restored by the City of Texarkana in 1979-80 and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The restoration was significantly funded by Texarkana natives H. Ross Perot and his sister Bette, through the Perot Foundation, in memory of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel Ross Perot. In honor of their generous contribution, the City Council renamed the venue the Perot Theatre. Today, it hosts the annual Perot Theatre Series and various events throughout the year. Another must-visit attraction in Texarkana is the Ace of Clubs House, a historic museum that showcases an Italianate Victorian design. Built in 1885, this unique home is shaped like a club, inspired by the legend that its construction was funded by poker winnings.
