80+ acres all to yourself!! This beautiful and very secluded property, with river, kayaks, trails, and creeks is offered to only one group at a time to ensure peace, quiet, and seclusion. No other guests will overlap your stay. You will enjoy the peaceful solitude in nature completely alone! Sorry, children are not allowed. It's a great location for romantic getaways, silent personal retreats, yoga, playing in the river, or just spending quiet one-on-one time with your spouse or significant other. The last 1/2 mile of dirt road is a little rough, so cars with very low ground clearance are not recommended. Campers on Thunder Mountain enjoy the entire property by themselves - including the unique outdoor bathhouse with outdoor tub and shower, impressive multi-level decks, kayaks, grill, trails, hammocks, and tubes - without the cost of the cabin. The cabin on the property will be vacant during camping stays, but you can still enjoy the WiFi and other amenities outside. Set up camp by the cabin and bathhouse or hike your equipment down the stairs to the river. Pricing: $30-90/night camping; $190-280/night cabin - listed separately. Last minute bookings may have discounted rates. Camping bookings for 1 or 2 nights are sometimes available even if the calendar does not show availability (due to cabin cleaning days). So feel free to ask about dates you want and we'll try to move our cleaning days around to help you out.You will be completely alone to enjoy the whole property and private section of the river on Thunder Mountain. Two guests (max) get free use of kayaks, tubes, and a paddle boat to enjoy on your own in the large swimming hole area of the river. You will also have private access to the unique outdoor bathhouse overlooking the river and Ouachita Mountains. Hike 4 miles of private trails. Set up camp in the pine forest, on the large deck by the cabin, near your car, or down the stairs to the river. The cabin will be vacant during your camping stay and no other guests will overlap your stay. You can enjoy the views from the front and back porch and awesome three-tier deck. You may also use the propane grill or fire rings. The property extends across both sides of the river for almost 1/2 mile, so seclusion and tranquility is abundant! The bathhouse contains a large outdoor shower, deep antique tub, and sink. There is a separate outhouse with a flushing toilet available near the cabin. Two guests max even though the property is large. That's 40 acres per person!! ATVs are not allowed to be used on the property. Full Calendar Options - If you don't see camping dates that you want, just ask and I'll see if we can move our cleaning days to make room for you. We're happy to try to make something work for you! Need a cheaper price? Never hurts to ask especially if an open date is less than a couple weeks away. :-) Cell service only works near the cabin and on top of high hills. WiFi calling works great close to the cabin. The last 1/2 mile to the camping area is a rough dirt road with a steep hill just before reaching the cabin. Cars can make it if they aren't too low to the ground. 118 steps from the cabin and parking area down to the river. So although camping next to the river is great, it's more effort to carry your things there. Vehicles must park near the cabin since you can't drive down to the river. There are outdoor security cameras. We tell guests where the switch to turn them off is.

Peace and Quiet

Tent

Thunder Mountain is hands down the best place we have ever camped. Every detail of this property was impeccably thought out and it was truly a trip we will never forget. Though we experienced some rain during our stay, we were able to stay comfortable the entire time. We loved catching fish, swimming in the cool river, using the outdoor bathhouse, and grilling/watching the sunset with a glass of wine. It is clear that this property is well loved by the host. Todd was incredibly accommodating and his communication throughout the trip was top notch. We will definitely return to Thunder Mountain!

10/10 stay!

18 ft campervan · With pets

If you’re even thinking about booking this, you should! The host has everything you can think of, and you can tell they put a lot of thought into this place. Walking trials are nice, outdoor seating, outdoor bathroom, river, all perfect! There is quite a bit of stairs to get to the river, be ready for the trek. Even if you stay at the top and sit at the patio, it’s a beautiful view! The host was also very accommodating to dogs, which is a must in my world. Thank you again!!

Todd’s place was great. We had intended to camp but the weather had us choose the cabin, which was perfect to listen to the storms on the roof. The river rises quickly with heavy rain so be aware of that, but it’s a beautiful spot to play by the water and the views from the cabin are top notch. Definitely will be saving this for future travels

Magical Thunder Mountain

This place is MAGICAL! We could not get over how cool it was. Todd really created an experience for his guests. There are so many cute little details and amenities that made us feel like kids exploring a new place! Multiple fire pits and areas to hangout. The bathhouse was something out of a story book. The river was so peaceful. Access to multiple trails on site. You could not ask for more! 10/10 recommend. We will absolutely be back!

Thunder Mountain exudes loving care

Tent

A truly delightful place! So many thoughtful details like a porch swing by the river and adutch door on the rustic john so sunrise can be seen from the rustic throne. The privacy and quiet provided by the entire place being our own was grand. I've taken the baths at Hot Springs bathhouses and the outdoor bath at Thunder Mountain way surpassed them. Communication was great. The trails were wonderful. The entire property is well cared for . We heard two kinds of owls, saw hawks, an eagle and kingfishers. Saw three different kinds of lizards. I caught a large mouth bass and saw lots of fish hanging out in the clear waters.

I had this place saved and kept eyeing it and finally pulled the trigger! I wish I could’ve stayed more than one night! I had been exploring and car camping in Arkansas with my pup and definitely was feeling a shower and so glad I ended up here. It was last minute so I really appreciate the host’s quick response and accommodation. I drive a FWD Honda HR-V so not too low to the ground. I didn’t have any trouble except had to back down hill and speed up to get up the last bit getting into site but I made it and worth it! I got in just in time to setup and go jump in the river and grill a steak and asparagus on their propane grill and then shower in the outdoor shower house. Hot and cold water and great water pressure, it was wonderful and same with sink🙌🏼WiFi worked close to cabin, as mentioned. I had no issue with it while in tent which I set up on the deck (was also able to back my car in close to deck to unload). The outhouse and flushable toilet was cherry on top heading out in the morning. Had so many people asking about it from my snaps. So I will definitely be back and possibly even family vacation in the cabin!

Paradise!

Tent · With kids

In all of my 45 years, and after countless camping trips, I can honestly say this is the most extraordinary place I have ever stayed. From the moment I arrived, I felt like I had stepped into something rare and unforgettable. The land itself radiates peace and beauty—every view feels like a painting, every sound like part of a calming symphony of nature. What makes this place stand out isn’t just the scenery—it’s the atmosphere. There’s a sense of care, of intention, that you can feel in every detail. It’s as if this spot was created to remind you what camping is supposed to be: restorative, grounding, and awe-inspiring. I have camped in many places across the years, but nowhere has left me with this kind of deep impression. This isn’t just a camping trip—it’s an experience that stays with you. If you’re looking for a place that renews your spirit and sets a new standard for what camping can be, this is it.
