One of Arkansas' greatest treasures. Less than a minute from the Kings River Falls Trail-head, and nestled alongside the headwaters of the Kings River in Venus Arkansas. This is a remote and rugged campground with caves, bluffs, swimming holes and river a plenty. This campground has a grand exhibition of the same sandstone formation that is responsible for the Whitaker Point (Hawksbill Crag) formation. Clovis like points have been found here, and so one might assume the bluffs and crags here have been inhabited for millennia. This 7 acre property is completely surrounded by Arkansas Natural Heritage-Natural Area. There are miles of trails and cooling waters at every turn. If you like Kings River Falls, get ready to fall in love with this Red Fern Campground. Lose yourself in a fairy-tale land. With endless places to explore and amazing natural features at every turn this experience will not disappoint. Most of our campsites are just yards away from a public swimming area, which is shared between our property and the Arkansas Natural Area. You should expect local traffic at the main swimming area during your stay. We have a private swimming area on our property which is just a short hike from the developed campsites (Please ask the camphost for directions). There are miles of county maintained bumpy dirt roads leading to the site. Expect your vehicle to get dusty. There is a creek crossing that is required to reach the campsites. We recommend high clearance and/or 4WD or AWD vehicles. If you are unable to cross the creek, you will need to park in the parking area and walk across the creek to reach your site.

Beautiful and quiet campground! Unfortunately there was trash all over our campsite when we arrived, and the sites were a little hard to find. Other than those issues, we enjoyed our stay and plan to come back in the summer :)

Beautiful secluded site on river
Beautiful secluded site with river access!! I loved how close we were to the water but also how private it was. The rippling water sounded so peaceful through out our entire stay and it was a beautiful aqua color. Up the nearby mountain (walkable but slightly steep) was a second fire pit with a bench that we found to be REALLY unique! The site itself came with a nice stone fire ring & bench. Restroom was very close but not on site. We arrived at night time and finding the site was a little challenging for us (so arrive early lol). It made it exciting to find the location but if I was traveling without my husband I would have cried lol. The water crossing is rock bottom and not deep, our 2 wheel drive truck did just fine to and around the area. There was another camper with a sedan car and they managed to get to the campsite just fine. There is not much cell service in the area so plan accordingly. The host did provide directions to a cell spot nearby so that was helpful. There are homes somewhat close to the campground so that made us feel safe. The hosts were AMAZING and EXTREMELY helpful! Trail to the falls was easy and not too far (about a mile). We went in the fall (hunting season) and there are people hunting the nearby areas so bring your neon vest/clothing. For larger families I suggest booking site 5&4 (4 being the closest to the restrooms). Thank you for the amazing stay! We highly recommend this location & hosts!!! It was exactly what we were looking for 🤩
