Thank you for looking at what I have to offer. We love to have fun here. Which is why we call our little campground Tomtuga. It is sort of a reference of the Caribbean pirate island of Tortuga, except my name is Tom. I'm here mostly for the canal and living the pirate life but there have been sightings of Bigfoot and his cousin Yeti. They show up once in awhile to keep things interesting. Here at Tomtuga we are 2 acres with the Erie Canal across the front on a quiet street and the Genesee Valley Transportation, a local shortline railroad across the backyard. Boat season is May - Oct. Train runs mostly just two days a week all year. Step out and give the boats and trains a friendly wave. We are a hard packed base that can handle the very large RVs. Campsite #1 is where the 50amp / 30amp / 110 electric outlets are. Campsite #2 is the only area that has a "good" grassy spot. With only two campsites, along with my RV here, it is a rather peaceful camp. There are no bathrooms here, so I'm sorry but no tent camping available. We offer ''Buddy Camping'', in which if you are traveling with friends in a 2nd RV / camper. I allow you to both camp on the same campsite #1. You still need to book campsite #4. If you have more camping friends, I can add more campsites for each camper using our "Overflow sites" for booking. This is just a clerical thing for charges. Actually campsite #1 can hold three campers. Also if you don't need power, like you have solar or batteries etc. I might allow you to park anywhere on our two acres. You book campsite #3. You can check the property out before setting up. I allow 2nd vehicles or also ''toads'' on the campsites too at no charge. I'm Ok if you show up early from an overnight drive to the site and park in the main driveway. If there are not any previous campers onsite, I might let you into the site. Just let me know beforehand. *No bathrooms on the property! You must have self contained units! When I get the bathroom built, this will change. **Again, NO Bathrooms here! If you try to book posing as a ''campervan'' but just a van or staying in a cardboard box on a trailer, don't book here. Please go stealth camp at Walmart, they have bathrooms and are free to overnight. I wouldn't pee in your yard. No water hookups. No dumpstation either. We have free WiFi. Firewood available for $5 a bundle or bring your own. The local gas station has small bundles down the street for $8 each. * Please ask me before you let any of your dogs off leash. If there are other campers here, we all need to be in agreement on this. For their children and pets safety too. I do allow multiple dogs here. Again, please clean up after them. Do NOT just toss it into my woods or the canal. Nice small canal town here with local eateries, including two pizza places; two bars and a breakfast lunch spot / laundromat / hardware store / Dollar General / gas station. We have a veterinary in town too. All within a short walking distance. NYS Bike path on the opposite side of the canal, goes from Buffalo to Albany. Some 350 miles. Also a free NYS Canal boat ramp 1,800ft to the east, on our side of the canal. So bring your bikes / kayaks / boats / fishing poles. Rentals available in Lockport. Worms available at the hardware store in town. We are also open during the winter season, Uh yep. Please message me before hand because it depends on the snow depth if I'm letting campers in. *Special Bonus Offer - I am an online ordained minister and offer wedding nuptials here at Camp Tomtuga. Our twist is having your vows done by Rev Bigfoot or Padre Yeti in full regalia. Comes with an actual wedding certificate (you still need a license to make it legal). Cake is an extra fee. NO Dumpstation here!!! There is one 20 minutes south, just off the NY Thruway at the Flying J Truck Stop. 8484 Allegheny Rd, Pembroke. It is in the RV fuel island. Costs is $10. Get the code inside. *Ask about our free camper sticker or buying a Camp Tomtuga T-shirt. The shirts are Made to Order and can be mailed out afterwards. Hey if you could, when on the booking page it asks you to "Say Hello". Please tell me what kind of camper you are coming in like an RV or trailer and the size. It asks you that question right above that but I don't receive that info till much later. It just helps me gauge on placement here. I have plenty of room but it's nice to know what it showing up. Thanks Lots of people asking so, we are 30 miles from Niagara Falls. Very easy ride there and back using NYS Rt 104. This route goes along the Niagara escarpment with lots of farms stands and a few wineries. Most of my guests use my campsites as a basecamp to then go and explore Niagara Falls or even day trip to Toronto Canada 106 miles away. I provide a list of local NY info / places to visit in Canada and my experience on crossing the border. My camp to downtown Buffalo is 38 miles. To downtown Rochester is 51 miles. Lake Ontario Olcott Beach is 17 miles. Letchworth NYS Park 60 miles. We are 42 miles to the Buffalo Bills (Highmark Stadium). Thanks again, I hope you come and stay.

Site #1 is on our northwest corner of our camp. This is where our electric panel is. We have 50amp / 30 amp / 110 GFI outlets on this pedestal. This campsite is about 60ft x 80ft. Open on two sides. It is a pull-thru. Currently it is a hard pack base. Evening shade of sorts. There is a fire ring here for you to use and table / bench.

Site 2 grass area NO electric

Site #2 is more towards the middle of our camping area. There is NO electric here. We can provide a 110 electric cord if needed. This campsite is about 30ft x 40ft. Open on two sides. You will need to back into it. It is our only grassy spot at the moment. Actual grass area is like 25ft x 15ft. Brief evening shade of sorts. We do have our picnic tables and a fire ring here to use. If you brought tents and would like to set them up here, you can but please let me know beforehand. *This campsite will be ending soon, as our bathroom is being built here this summer. Our 2nd campsite will be elsewhere on the property with 50amp service.

There is no electric at this campsite. Also no bathrooms at this camp. If you are camping in one of them 'off grid's rigs, this is the campsite that I offer. I allow those to use this site or go out back into the woods. *Caution as there are mosquitoes and poison ivy in the woods but closer to the pond, not so much. And the camp Zipline crosses over this site..

We can add more if needed, as campsite #1 can fit about three RVs. Tell me before booking, how many RV's you have coming. I create a campsite to book and charge the fee for each. Also, depends on your electricity needs as there is no electric at this campsite.

Went to to Thomas’s camp site for the first time and we were blown away! He is incredible and so kind. Gave us ample access so our kids could play and helped start a fire and all. Super accommodating and beyond caring. Property is immaculately well kept and we loved that the white water bins had lights in them. Our children and all adults loved it! Felt magical to us :) we will be back

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. We got a kick on how Thomas had it decorated for Halloween. Thomas had given us all the information we might need for the area. That was so very helpful for us. He had also given us heads up about the local church giving out turkey dinner's for donations. Thank you Thomas with that idea. They were delicious. We did miss out on having a campfire due to the windy weather. Visiting with Thomas was very nice. If we ever make it back to New York, we'd definitely stay here again.

Our Tomtuga experience was lovely. We enjoyed a local farmer’s market, chasing boats through the canal down into Lockport, and enjoying Tom’s interactions with the local train tours. Tom is full of knowledge about so many different places to visit, not just his local area. We enjoyed a couple fires over our stay as well. If it had been warmer I definitely would’ve taken him up on his tour guide offerings for Niagara as I’m sure he knows all the best spots. Book your stay! You definitely won’t regret it.

We loved our stay with Thomas. The campground is small and very quiet. It is across from the Erie Canal. Thomas has great stories and lots of knowledge of the area which was very helpful. The campground itself is centrally located for hour adventures in northwest New York, and as it is in Gasport the traffic was very light. Thomas even surprised us with a campfire on our last night where we got to me and chat with, he and the other camper who was there. I would definitely stay here again

Not too private of a spot (was moved to site 1), but he was great! Stayed out of the way , and was MORE THAN HAPPY to assist you. We ended up not able to get to his place around 1am, but he was still out at the gate waiting for us and offered to help setup as a storm came in. I would more than be happy to come stay with him if we ever are out that way again! THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DID!

Tom was great! Site was private and super clean. We have stayed at tons of Hipcamp sites and Tom was one of the best hosts we have ever had. He even helped setup our fire so when we came in late it was nice and hot. Great spot overall to explore NY. Easy to get over to Niagara Falls for the day. Highly highly recommend if you want a fun place to stay. Thanks so much!

Tomtuga was an easy pull thru site with electric on the Erie Canal in Gasport, NY. The campsite has an eclectic collection of repurposed items that make the experience festive, creative and very unique. A local train came thru on Friday and the canal was active with boats, kayaks and barges throughout the weekend. We were able to hike some of the NYS Parks and rode our bikes on the canal trail to Lockport and back. Thomas ~ our host, was a wealth of knowledge and information, very hospitable and friendly. He shared history of the area, provided us with an itinerary of local events and offered many suggestions for dining, fresh produce, wineries/breweries. We (hubby, 6 year old rescue pup and I) had a fantastic time! THANK YOU TOMTUGA!!

Perfect location!, Located close to so many small towns and interesting landmarks. Tom was very accommodating!, The perfect host. He was informative and has a ton on knowledge of all the surrounding areas. Friendly, welcoming and great stories. Awesome reuse of different products to make his place unique and marvelous. Will definitely recommend and will be back in the future. Had a great weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the towns in all directions. The canal is great scenery. Very peaceful camp. Felt at home. Easy access for our travel trailer to get in. Can’t say enough good things of this one of a kind camping experience!

Tomtuga has a unique property that can please any person that is young at heart. We truly enjoyed his hospitality and his unique fire starting qualities. Sitting around a campfire and exchanging stories was a great end of the day. We saw a train just after our arrival and did a couple of Pennies. (Ask Tom he’ll tell ya). We saw a few boats on the canal which we thought was awesome. When we go through that way again, which I know we will, his place is a stop for sure!

Great location. A unique hidden gem. Just a short drive to see the Locks of the Erie Canal & less than an hour from Niagara Falls . The campsite was clean & easily accessible. Tom is a wealth of information & very accommodating. It is close to a street with very little traffic so hardly any road noise. And if you need a camp food break, there are many options nearby.

Winter camping in my disabled persons ramp mini-van because I am wheelchair bound. Tom was super friendly and went the extra-mile to make my trip very enjoyable. He made sure i was able to hook up electric heaters and other devices by supplying me with a 110v plug in. . It does get a bit muddy so it made it a bit challenging to get around in a wheelchair but I always was able to make it work. Really quiet and peaceful. There are a couple of trains that rumble though during the week which was fun to watch them pass. I had the local birds and an occasional raccoon stop by for some of the treats I left out. Tom is very knowledgeable about the local tourist attractions and eateries in the area. I especially enjoyed Port's Pizza and Subs, which is just down the road, as the pizza is awesome and very reasonable. The Erie Canal is literally right across the road. There's also the NY Canal Trail that follows right along the canal that can be enjoyed all year long and a bride within walking distance from Camp Tomtuga.
