Phoenix Landing
The site is up a steep woods road and requires 4 wheel drive with high ground clearance. Once you get to the top it levels out and there is a spacious tenting area with a platform and room for many tents. There are a lot of trees, so if you are a hammock camper this is great. There are two picnic tables, a privy, cold shower, and a dish washing area. The camping area is quite a long way up the hill from the main house, so you have complete privacy.

I would 100% recommend camping on Mikes land. Mike is friendly, helpful, and very responsive. From the moment we got there we felt that he was as invested in our experience as we were. He even lent us his fishing hooks, said we could use his swimming hole, shared his wild mushrooms, and lent us his mini wagons to help us carry stuff up the hill. the site is beautiful and very private. You do here the cars from the road. We didn't mind, but if it would bother you, then you should probably book Mikes other camp site thats farther up. Very close to local hikes and fishing opportunities. Had the best time! we will be back!

We had an amazing time at Mike’s camp, even when it rained one night! There was plenty of firewood available, and the space was vast enough to accommodate a large group. We were upgraded to Phoenix Landing, which is more secluded and away from road noise—definitely a great spot for a peaceful getaway.
We visited at the end of winter and could already tell that the area would be lush and beautiful in the summer. There’s a nice walking path on the property, perfect for a leisurely stroll. While there is a bathroom and shower on-site, we didn’t use them since we were only there for two nights and brought our own setup.
The campsite was clean and well-maintained, and the land at Phoenix Landing was leveled, making our tent setup super even and comfortable for sleeping. There’s also a platform available, but we opted for a more primitive camping experience.
We met Mike at the mushroom factory, and he was incredibly accommodating, friendly, and polite. Checking in and out was a breeze, and whenever we needed to communicate, he was always available and responsive.
Overall, we had an awesome experience and would highly recommend this spot!

Mike was a great host! The site was perfect for our trip with bikes. It was a cold weekend and Mike helped us out with helpful information and giving us some insulation pads too. Would definitely come back!

Phoenix Landing was an absolutely awesome experience. It felt rustic but very well maintained and high on a hill in Mike's woods so we felt like we had the area completely to ourselves. There are 3 seperate areas all part of Phoenix Landing, all with very nice firepits and many spots for tents. The tent platform could easily fit 4 tents for our large group. Mike set our group up for success having everything ready to go including water for the shower, outhouse set up, and firewood bundles for our group. We are very grateful that we found Phoenix Landing and we'd recommend it again to anyone looking for a great spot!

Mike was an amazing host! The campsite was modest but had accessible hiking and plenty of space which was exactly what we wanted :) The space was clean and Mike was extremely generous, responsive and hospitable. Highly recommend for an easy escape from the city with nearby towns to explore. We could hear the nearby road but it was not loud.

Nothing wrong with this place if it was $20 seems a little steep. There was no real place to pitch a tent as the whole area is sloped. A little preparation of the "site" and something to soften the ground would make this ideal.

Had a wonderful time with the whole family (which included 11 of us and 5 pups) at the Phoenix landing site which was clean and private. Mike was super informative and helpful and made staying so easy. If you have a big group and are looking for a nice place to camp for a few nights I highly recommend!

We had a great time at this campsite. Gorgeous little creek for the dogs, all the rustic amenities, wide open spaces. Even with it being so close to a lot of things, it felt perfectly in the middle of nowhere. Real steep drive up to the actual site but it was very do-able with 4WD. Thanks for having us, Mike!

The site was nice with the listed amenities. The host was responsive the only issue was there was only a very small area that was level for my little tent. And it was where the picnic table was which I moved to put the tent. Some one with a larger tent would be pitching on a slope and uneven ground.

Mike’s campsites are very well kept! It was clean as soon as we arrived with all amenities accounted for. Great outhouse, camp furniture, and supplies provided upon request. It’s also a short car ride from Metro North stations, with stores closeby.
Mike is a fantastic and welcoming host that knows a lot of enriching information about the area. Always quick to reply and kind, I would trust Mike to guarantee a great camping trip! I 100% recommend you visit Chestnuts Landing whenever you can.

Glows: Host was very responsive and generous. Stream was VERY refreshing to hop into on a hot day.
Grows: Site was very sloped, hard to find level ground for a tent. Noise from the road was very loud all night long.
I checked out his other campsite -- way nicer, and quieter away from the road. Worth the extra money.

I loved camping at Phoenix Landing! The platform was able to fit two 4 person tents & one 7 person tent. It was very quiet and the stream was a great place to cool off. The drive up to the campsite is steep and rocky, but definitely doable with a 4wd vehicle. Overall, it was a great time! Thanks Mike!

Had a lovely time at Chestnut’s Landing! Mike was super helpful with directions and stopped by to see if we needed anything. As other reviews stated, the site is a bit slanted but it was still nice and will definitely try check back in another time!

We loved camping on Mike’s land. We have so much privacy and we loved the ease of using the water for washing dishes. We also loved the creek. Mike is a great campkeeper, we would recommend this spot to other campers!

Mike’s place was very hip because, there was plenty of space for dogs to roam. They, especially, enjoyed cooling off in the nearby stream. We did, too, as it was a very hot weekend.
The campsite was great. It had the perfect mix of shade and open space. There were 2 picnic tables as well as a prep table. The fire pit had a handy cooking grill. The platform, partially covered with tarp, that we put our tent on was quite useful when there was a major rain storm early one morning. The outhouse was perfect and the washing station for dishes and showers was a bonus. Mike did a nice job putting all that together!
Mike was also very easy to communicate with.

Chestnut Landing Campground is just perfect for families with curious kids who love climbing, exploring, and splashing around in the swim holes. This was my second time visit to the property, and one thing that stood out to me for this particular campground was how close the campground is to the road, giving a reassuring feeling to newcomers. The road noise actually helps to make the place feel cozy rather than too isolated. However, I must admit, the car sounds can be a bit distracting at night, but fear not - the sites further inside the property are nice and quiet!
This campground is spacious, well-kept, and has a lovely private feel to it, making our stay super comfy. The rocks around the swim holes are a treasure trove for little adventurers to explore and have a blast. Plus, Mike, the owner, is a gem! His thoughtful touches like the dish rest by the fire grill add a touch of charm to the whole experience.
In a nutshell, Chestnut Landing Campground is the ultimate blend of nature and convenience, making it a top pick for families craving a fun camping trip. Don't let the road noise deter you - the beauty and welcoming vibe of the campground more than make up for it. Our time there was simply wonderful, and I can't recommend it enough to families looking for an unforgettable outdoor escape!

Went hammock camping - 2 adults, 1 dog and had a great time. Incredible land with a nice creek, beautiful forest, and great plants (moss, ferns, trees). Awesome host, awesome land. You can hear a little freeway traffic at night but if you’re visiting from the city you’ll barely notice it. Mike was very kind, told us about the area, and sold us firewood. Would recommend!

The land and space was beautiful and relaxing! Just what we came for. Chestnuts Landing could have been a bit more level for comfortability, but definitely offered us a great experience! We had all we needed! Mike was an amazing host who was available and extremely helpful with all of our needs! He even helped one of our cars which got stuck in mud, out! If you prefer bare camping, this site was perfect! Cant wait to try a different site next time! Thanks Mike!
