Heavily wooded acreage with goats, horses and donkeys. There is no light pollution and if there are no clouds you can see the stars very clearly. We have a ton of wild birds. Owls and Cara Cara are common. There are deer, feral hog and two resident packs of coyote. We also have ring tail cats, which are nocturnal and rare. The best seasons are October 1st thru the end of April. It gets VERY hot and dry in the summer and can just be miserable. We have a shared bathroom and an outdoor shower and tub. If you are a single woman or a family with children, we don't take other bookings while you are visiting the farm. You will have the place to yourselves. The only exception being my family and I, if we are working or staying over at the farm. We should have a second bunkhouse up and running by fall of 2025. If you are tent camping, you may camp anywhere on the property but there are certain spaces that may make curious horses your roomies.

If you are looking for solitude and untouched nature, this is the place for you. The comforts of Bandera are conveniently only a 5 minute drive away. We are located less than 2 miles from Bandera City Park! At this time, all sites are completely dry. We do have porta-potties available. RV sites are boondocking only (no water or electric at this time.) Guests may stay at Memmie’s Farm for a maximum of 6 consecutive nights. Our slice of land on the Medina River is truly gorgeous! There are beautiful cypress trees that are magical year round, and there are often small rapids. If relaxing in the shade by the river and dipping your feet in is your thing, our property is perfect for that! However, this is not a swimming hole. The Medina River is generally not considered safe in Bandera, TX, due to consistent low flow. Swim at your own risk.

WATER LEVEL and FLOW The water level in photos are accurate. The water level has dropped 12 feet since March 2023, to rebuild the dam that created our lake. There is a certain flow requirement downstream from our property, so we maintain a minimum flow and consistent level/depth regardless of rainfall. Depth varies from 4 feet at our stairs to 10+ feet in the middle of the channel. Additionally, there's no boat traffic, so it's ideal for kayaking and fishing year round. Water flow slows in warmer seasons, and plumes of button moss intermittently float up from the bottom, collecting at water's edge. We still swim among the button moss, but it may not be ideal for some. Unfortunately, there's no way to predict when it will emerge and how long it stays. 2 nights at Sparrow Bend River Retreat

My fiance and I enjoyed our two night stay at the Scamp! The Scamp is located on a beautiful camping resort on the Medina River! The Scamp is tucked away underneath Juniper trees away from the other campers and we enjoyed the privacy. The Scamp had everything we needed for cooking, dish washing, and coffee in the morning. The Scamp was clean and comfortable for the two of us. The outdoor refrigerator could have been cleaner and the outdoor furniture appeared to be dog friendly, but this didn’t lessen the enjoyment of our stay. Restroom and shower facilities are a very short walk from the scamp and were clean. Short walk down to the beautiful Medina River where we enjoyed a float on our SUP and a swim in the crystal clesr water. You can rent tubes and kayaks if needed. Firewood was available to purchase conveniently on Cash app or Venmo, however we did camp during a Red Flag warning so we couldn’t have a camp fire. (County order and not Sparrow Bend Resort rule) Charcoal grill and charcoal provided for grilling and propane stove in the Scamp. We would highly recommend The Scamp for a couples getaway!

Amazing setup! Camper had all we needed to be comfortable. The site was spacious and visual seclusion from the owner’s property. Expansive firepit, hammock, twinkle lights and two picnic tables. Our family of 3 had a great time- there was a small bunk bed perfect for our daughter while we enjoyed the main bed. Would recommend!

We had a wonderful time calling Ellie’s place “home” for a night. With all the comforts at your fingertips, the travel trailer worked perfect for our NYE visit. We will definitely return to Bandera soon, and will absolutely look to rent with Ellie Again.

The host is very nice and willing to help and lend information whenever necessary. Very nice get away from the rest of the world, you might be lucky to see some deer on our path like we did. Fire pit, grill, kitchenette, wifi, hot tub are good bonuses. We already want to come back!

I absolutely loved this camper! Private location, very well stocked, and the little deck with the comfy furniture was perfect first thing in the morning. I have watched deer while sipping coffee, lazed on the couch under the umbrella enjoying a nice breeze, and cooled my feet in the river in the late morning. It was the relaxation I needed with just the right amount of space. Alright TLDR is over so here is the breakdown. Pros: ~VERY WELL STOCKED for the most part (dishes, tea pots, towels, washcloths, even a outside sink for room to wash dishes, ect.) ~ gas stove (just remember to turn it on) ~ fantastic distance from the river ~ beautiful views (especially nighttime for stargazing) ~ Comfy furniture! Legit wanted to nap outside in good breeze. ~ Privacy! I could only see one cabin unless I went to the main camp grounds. ~ Public area's are also well stocked and taken care of Cons: ~Only one pot to cook on. There was a griddle as well but I didn't test it. Absolutely would have grilled outside if there wasn't a burn ban. ~ The path to the restrooms wasn't well lit but you're out in nature get a headlamp. ~ One of the showers uses the hooked latch that kept slipping if the door was bumped. There was twine to help hold it in place but please someone get that fixed with a more secure latch.

We had such a lovely stay! The campsite had everything we needed — cookware, fridge, clean showers and bathrooms, and beautiful views all around. We arrived late at night during a storm, so a small light or sign would’ve made finding our way easier, and a wagon for our gear was not available as mentioned. Not taking any points off though — it’s a great, family and dog-friendly spot, and we can’t wait to come back for a longer stay with our dog next time!

This was an awesome experience for our young grandchildren. They learned so much about the animals and loved their first ever horse ride. There was a nice playground, hills and rocks. Things we don’t have at home. I would definitely do it again.

It was a quiet and pleasant stay. We stayed in the 2 person bunkhouse which was very cozy. The farm had some very friendly horses, goats and donkeys that we could feed treats to. The kitchen in the farmhouse was also well stocked with utensils, coffee, and seasonings. The pool was very refreshing in the hot sun. The host was also extremely helpful in calling us and providing all details and responding to our texts during the stay.

2nd time out and I still love it, such a nice area and love being able to walk and play in the river with my kiddo. Had my mother in law along with us this time and had a chance to be in the bigger camper. We had some car trouble and were delayed but Ellie was very understanding and so helpful when we arrived, she spent time teaching us what we needed to know about the camper for the most comfortable stay! Thank you Ellie!!!

The family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Angela’s land! We stayed in Casa Avecita which was well kept and fully accommodating. There are some nice small town places to eat in the area such as “out of the way cafe” which add to the stay. There are kayaks and tubes available as well as all safety gear for rent which they make easily accessible. I wish I could leave ten stars!!! Thanks again y’all!

Visit all the San Antonio mission sites

The Missions are a must see and a big part of San Antonio culture and it helps people understand how the Hispanic/Spanish and Native American People here are integrated because of historical events.
