We are the Darnell family, and we bought this property in late 2021. We can't wait to share it with you! We desire to create a place of rest, retreat, and relaxation in nature. What a beautiful and peaceful place! We stayed in the more private pasture which was a quick walk to the bathroom and kitchen. Such a great benefit to have a full bathroom and place to wash dishes. the hosts are so welcoming. Where we stayed is right behind their house but they did their thing and we did ours. Would definitely recommend!

Loved the birds

This place ranks as the best hipcamp we've ever stayed at. It felt private with a horse barn near and a good distance from the host's house. Lot's of walking trails around the horse pasture and pond area. The birds were great on our early May visit - especially the singing purple martins in their house next to us. Perfect birding area with multiple environments - pasture, large pond, forest, wetland. We also saw herons, geese, various warblers, meadowlark, and others.

It’s a lovely little farm! We were greeted upon arrival by 2 donkeys, 4 horses, and a fetching gaggle of hens. John responded quickly to our questions about parking our camper. There are two unmarked RV spaces next to each other and the hookups for each are together. As it turned out, the neighboring camper, who arrived later, didn’t need hookups and parked across the lot. The bathroom was a short walk near the lake with a shower and an inviting screened porch. It was a restful place to spend the night on our way across the country.

After a long day on the road, we pulled into this serene little farm which had a nice level gravel site for our small camping trailers. The other campsites were on level grass with a nice view of the grazing horses. The family members welcomed us and guided us to the pavilion with the bathroom, shower and kitchenette. John responded quickly when we had a question on the parking options. In the morning we watched the animals get their breakfast which was enjoyable for us and for our dogs who were nuzzled by the friendly donkeys and horses. There were good areas for dog walking and we enjoyed visiting with the friendly and kind Darnell family members. We will stay here again if we are passing through!

Gorgeous Property

Gorgeous site! It was so lovely to wake up to the horses right outside my tent and to hear them running around at night was really cool. My pup and I had a lovely walk alongside the lake in the morning, it was beautiful. The kitchen and bathroom were nice and clean and a short walk from the camp site. The location is a short distance to downtown Tupelo and Elvis' Birthplace which were both great places to visit. I felt a nice sense of community in town and the people were all so kind and sweet. I would absolutely stay here again if I was passing through.

A Tupelo Honey

It was inspiring to be camping yet down on the farm. The land looked healthy, well-loved. Of interest farm-wise was the society of donkeys and chickens. The evening show included an opening act of dozens of Martins soaring and skimming above the lake. The headliner was the moon reflected back into the lake. The hosts are generous to a fault offering up the most deluxe bath house we’ve ever enjoyed - screened in porch richly furnished with its own dedicated hot water heater and amazing view of the fields rolling back to the woods and the lake a stones throw away.

Great stop

Developed a serious case of farm envy. This was a great place to overnight. Was able to get my morning walk in around the lake while enjoying the purple martins.

Tupelo's secret

What an amazing piece of land. You'd be wise to arrive early if you can an explore the farm in all it's wonder! Great hosts and great property. Stay here if in the area!

Great Tupelo Spot

This was a nice, quiet place to end my day exploring in the Tupelo area. I felt very safe here. The hosts were gracious and accommodating. Great set up. Would stay here again in a heartbeat if traveling back through the area.

Tent Camping Travels

Seamless camping experience with clear instructions and a welcoming family. Beautiful property with hookups for convenience. Made us feel at home, my daughter loved waking up next to horses and other farm animals.

We loved camping here in our pop-up. There are several horses, some chickens, and a couple miniature donkeys right next to the site which was nice. There is also a large pavilion right next to the hookups. It was quiet and pretty private at this site.

Beautiful and peaceful horse ranch.

Beautiful horse ranch just minutes off of the interstate. Clear and concise instructions on where to land my RV with an amazing view of the horses grazing. Very level spot with easy access to water and electric. Thank you John for hosting and I will definitely return.

The tent sites by the lake at Moon Lake Farm was perfect for my family as we stopped overnight as the end to our first leg of a roadtrip to our final destination. The animals were fun for my kids and I loved the zinnia beds with all the pollinators and gold finches flying around. Would recommend and already have on Facebook to my fiends and family!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The screened porch provided a much needed break from the heat and bugs we'd experienced camping throughout the southeast. The screen porch provided a great place to enjoy our meal and the shower provided a great opportunity to clean up after the day's activities. I haven't used Hipcamp often but this was a great place to stay and I would definitely do so again.

Expectations Exceeded!

I cannot put into words how amazing our stay at Moon Lake Farms was! It’s like a little piece of heaven! Honestly, my favorite part was reading the Word at sunrise! The well maintained grounds are beautiful and accentuated with beautiful flowers, swings and a chiminea, Adirondack chairs, animals, and the amazing lake! We camped right on the water and also put in our kayaks at our site! We fished, swam, and did a little hiking! The animals were so fun to watch and pet !The bathhouse/screened in kitchen was just a short walk away, next to the lake, and over a quaint little bridge. The facilities were impeccable and felt like home! If you need anything from town, it is also just a very short drive away. John and Emily are so very kind and welcoming! Moon Lake Farm was above and beyond our expectations! Please do yourself a favor and take a little vacation from life at Moon Lake Farm! You’ll be so glad you did!

Perfect stay!

We absolutely loved our stay at Moon Lake! We were greeted by both hosts when we arrived, and were very attentive throughout. Our site was (RV 3) was level and dry despite recent rain. We were able to choose between a 30 amp or regular outlet for our power needs. There was a nice shady pavilion that was great for putting up our chairs and relaxing. The walk around the lake was lovely, as were all the animal friends! We saw not only the farm animals, but frogs, turtles, and all kinds of birds. The site is close to the neighboring house but still private. It was a very quiet stay. We would most definitely choose this site again!

Great first stay with Hipcamp!

This was my first time camping with Hipcamp and it was fantastic! There was plenty of space available at our tent spot with a horse view and John was very accessible before our stay, replying to messages very fast. Both John and Emily were super kind hosts and came out to greet us upon arrival. My dogs loved running around with their dog and my cats (who were camping in their own tiny tent with us on our cross-country move!) felt comfortable enough here to walk around on their leashes at the campsite—a rarity! My family and I really appreciated the bathroom and kitchenette access and absolutely loved getting to pet the resident horses and donkeys. :) I would definitely recommend John’s land to others!

What a great experience we had at Moon Lake Farm! We did not stay in Rv1 with our tent, but John was an exceptional host and allowed us to swap to a spot at the back of the lake after we arrived and decided we needed something more secluded. Even though he was out of the country he was very responsive, and eager to make our stay as comfortable as possible. All of the animals were great, especially the cats, who came down to camp a few times. We made s’mores, caught some fish, and went swimming in the lake. It was the perfect weekend getaway.

Peaceful Easy Living

RV! At Moon Lake Farms provided a safe, lovely, peaceful setting in rural Mississippi on a property with a barn, lake, animals. The parking spot was large, easy to access with power and water. Communication with the host was great.
