All You Need is a 111 acre paradise that is home to some VERY unique and endangered habitat. Our northern boundary is a tract of DeSoto National Forest, where we have practically exclusive access to another 90 acres of longleaf pine savannah and more bottomland creeks. The sandhills are a "desert in the rain," home to prickly pear cactus and yuccas, abundant lichens (deer "moss"), the endangered black pine snake, and our mascot, the also endangered Gopher Tortoise. We're a nature education and retreat center where we share permaculture practices, homesteading/sustainable living skills, conservation practices, and approaches to connecting more deeply to the land. Check out our sister non-profit, the Burrow Nature Center. You will have access to our many walking paths and our swimming pond, as well as a 15 minute walk to part of DeSoto National Forest, which butts up to our property line. We would love to have you as our guest on the land, and are especially eager to meet travelers who deeply love nature and want to live in better relationship to it! 95 acres on the beautiful Topisaw Creek. Here we've raised 5 kids and a multitude of dogs, cats and chickens and a small herd of pineywoods cattle. The woods are quiet and undisturbed , harboring native species like jack in the pulpit, trillium and Florida anise. The spring-fed (and thus always refreshing!) Topisaw Creek forms the eastern border of our property, so plan to spend time on the sandy beaches and rock bars soaking up the sun or hunting for rocks and fossils (petrified wood and arrowheads have been found here). Many folks also enjoy a leisurely float down the creek in inner tubes ('tubing') or in a kayak. (Please note that after heavy rains the creek rises to epic heights and is too dangerous to navigate.) Little to no light pollution makes for amazing stargazing!

Only 2 miles off interstate 10. About 45 minutes to New Orleans. Welcome to camp or stay in your RV right on the Bayou The bayou leads to the Jordan river, Jordan River leads to the bay and the bay leads to the Gulf of Mexico takes about 30 minutes by boat or 5 miles by car. You’re welcome to go fishing we have, brackish water even blue crabs 🦀 it does require a license. Welcome to bring your boat launch is about a mile away off the 603. You can leave it docked in our yard. Under the house, there is table and chairs to enjoy the cool breeze. There is an outside cold water, shower, and a sink with cold water. One outlet to charge your phone is all the electricity available. I just had a toilet installed also under the house..

77 acres of rolling hills along the headwaters of Haley's Creek with a 1 m waterfall into a 4-ft deep pool and beautiful hardwood and pine forest all around. A Rustic road courses along with the creek and several offshoots for mountain biking or hiking. The waterfall and pool are a 1/2 mile hike into the property on the primitive road. Gravel is only provided at the entrance area, encircling the metal shed. Any driving off the gravel runs a risk of getting stuck in the slippery clay/mud. Rainwater barrels and 110 electricity are available at the metal shed. See dozens of tree species old and young along the creek and wildlife including turkeys, deer, bobcat, raccoons, possums, hawks, rabbits etc.

Drove up from New Orleans midday on a Monday (kids on Fall break, I know, I’m lucky), arrived around three, David checked on us, then we had a wonderful time! Stayed two nights, hop to return soon. It was very dewy! The instructions warned about this and I …was ready enough to have a tarp ready to pull over the tent during the first night, maybe shoulda done it ahead!

Had a wonderful stay while we were there! We had to very suddenly evacuate our house in Florida when the hurricane hit us dead on so Askew’s was just out of the path of the storm. We were able to book last minute and Craig was super responsive and helpful in making sure we got what we needed. The girls at the desk were also absolutely phenomenal! The campground was super cool! It’s got killer fishing in the pond/lake, there’s all kinds of kid friendly stuff to do, they have events and activities, and it’s just a beautiful little spot tucked away far enough off the interstate that you can’t hear a thing. Many of the spots are 30 amp, quite a few don’t have sewer, but they have a decent amount of 50 amp w sewer spots though! We had a great stay and the staff were just incredibly helpful with us while we dealt with such a terrible ordeal with hurricane Isiais, which absolutely trashed everything. Thank you everyone at Askew’s!

This is truly a hidden gem, and I'm so grateful we stumbled upon it. We reserved a Glamping tent and were shocked how much space it had inside, with comfortable beds and linens. There was an event going on during our stay and everyone we met was kind and welcoming. Despite there being many other campers, the campsite itself was so incredibly private. Just what we needed to recharge and we will be returning!

Weekend Trip to Crappie Capital Cabin

Loved our stay for the night at this cozy little cabin. Taking a roadtrip cross country and it’s exactly the kind of place we needed. Everyone in town was so friendly and the animals on the property were very friendly too! Our host was incredible! Anything we needed, it was provided to us. Including breakfast! Very kind and hospitable people. Staying in this place was lovely. I would absolutely come here again, if you’re in the area, give this charming little place a visit! You won’t be disappointed. Love the local honey!
