The site was clean and exactly as described. The composting toilet works fine and is clean and odor free. The only drawback was a dog barking in the distance into the night, but the other nighttime (nature) sounds were more pleasant.

Alder Meadow
My family loves Rusty Ranch. The whole property is well designed. Trails throughout are a big hit for my family. The creek and field are beautiful. The kids have plenty of things to keep them busy like a playground and some yard game. The property feels safe and always leaves us wanting to come back. Highly recommend this HipCamp.

Hawthorne Loop
This was our second time staying at Hawthorn Loop and loved it just as much as our last stay. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. It's the perfect spot for rest and relaxation. The hosts are so kind and helpful! We have stayed at many different HipCamp sites and this continues to be our favorite!

This is the best Hipcamp we have experienced. The hosts are so friendly and helpful, and their property is amazing. So much to do! We love the privacy, how the camp spots are situated so you really feel like you’re away from town, other campers and the chaos of regular life. We are coming a few more times this summer and hope to return every summer thereafter. Gorgeous place!

We had a great time! The place is kept is perfect condition, and that says a lot since it is many many acres. The toilets were clean and not smelly; the camp sites were well-maintained. Others were at campsites near us, but we were never bothered by them. Each site has enough space for parents to feel comfortable letting their kids explore.

Misty Meadow Group Camp
What a special place! The misty meadow site was perfect for our group. The bathrooms were clean and amazingly didn’t smell. The trails were fun for kids and adults. We will definitely be back.

Rusty Ranch is an amazing property and truly one of the highlights of our long weekend in Bellingham. Margaret was an excellent host, and the love and respect she has for her land is abundant. I only wish we had more time to spend at the property, exploring all it has to offer.

Rustic Bunkhouse & Corral
This campsite is the best campground I've experienced in my 49 years of camping. Aside from being in such a beautiful and quiet spot with lots of room in between the sites, it is super clean and organized. The hosts are very helpful and accommodating.

We are beyond grateful to have found Rusty Ranch Tree Farm and Forest.
Our whole group (3 families, 13 guests, 7 kids) had the best weekend here — rain and all! We all booked separate sites but all of them were awesome! Loved the location of Alder Meadow which was conveniently across a playground, game shack, near the outhouse and between 2 other sites.
Margaret is a truly wonderful host. From the moment we booked until we checked out, she was attentive, warm, and incredibly thoughtful. Each site is clearly set up with care — covered shelters, firepits, and well-maintained outhouses (trust us, they’re nothing like what you’re imagining — super clean and easy to use thanks to her clear instructions).
The Game Shack was a hit with the kids, and having firewood, the Snack Shack, and fun add-ons available made our stay even more enjoyable. Margaret also provides a very handy welcome pack, which answered most of our questions — but she’s also super quick to respond if you reach out. She truly made everything feel effortless.
The surrounding trails are absolutely stunning, and the kids loved running through the open hay fields. It felt like a perfect blend of rustic charm and thoughtful comfort.
We had such an amazing time and are already planning our return. Thank you, Margaret!

I honestly think the name of the ranch should be changed to The Magical Forest. There’s something truly special about this place. It feels like stepping into a dream. Margaret has thought of everything to make sure your stay is easy, cozy, and unforgettable.
Our group of friends, three families in total, came on a rainy weekend and still had the best time. We each booked our own site, and the covered structures on the property were a game-changer. We set up our tents under them and moved the picnic tables aside. Without that cover, we would’ve been soaked and probably had to leave early.
The kids had a blast with all the space to run around and play, and they especially loved the playground. What a plus that there was plenty of space between each campsite too.
The Snack Shack was such a thoughtful touch. Margaret brought us firewood when we needed more and made payment super easy. She even left a complimentary bundle for us when we arrived. We also picked up some farm-fresh eggs that were absolutely beautiful and delicious.
We brought our own shower and toilet, but the composting toilets onsite were impressively clean. Adding a trash can to our site was such a helpful option too.
And the trails. Just steps from our site was a creek and a forest so lush and untouched it felt sacred. I could’ve laid there for hours. Falling asleep to the sound of the creek and waking up to birdsong was pure bliss.
We’re already planning our next trip back.

High quality manicured camp sites with outhouses (composting toilets!), power stations, covered benches, fire pits, and more! The river is lovely, the hiking trails beautiful (but steep), and the grounds are gorgeous. The hosts are friendly and helpful, you really can't ask for more!

Margaret & Scott were great, Host. Margaret came to Greta shortly after we arrived and made sure any questions were answered. It was a nice quiet place to camp in a valley with a beautiful view the mountains. It was on and off raining when we were there . It was nice to have a large covered area with picnic table, a campfire pit, and some great trails on their property.

Alder Meadow
We loved camping at Rusty Ridge! We will definitely be coming back in the future. We stayed at the Alder Meadows site and it was perfect for our 2 year old and our 2 dogs. My kiddo loved having the playground right across from our campsite and we appreciated how spacious the campsite was. There were so many amazing thought out details that made our trip so wonderful. The covered picnic table area with lights that came on in the evenings, the signs posted throughout the camp and trails, the nice composting toilets that were surprisingly pleasant, the game shack, the wood that we bought being ready and stacked nicely for us, and the beautiful trees and flowers throughout. The creek and trails were just a short walk from our site which made it easy for us to just go for a walk or play in the water. It was quiet and peaceful and although people camped at the sites next to ours, the sites were so spread out and big it still felt very secluded. We are excited we found this spot and can't wait for our next trip!

Wow it’s phenomenal what Scott and Margaret have done with this beautiful property! From the trails to the details of fresh-cut flowers in the bathroom (outhouse), they have put so much thought and love into making a beautiful oasis. Highly recommend staying here and bringing the whole family as there’s a scavenger hunt nature walk, ample space, and even grass volleyball! We also got an add on of a fresh produce basket from the garden and chicken eggs. Super fun!

Misty Meadow Group Camp
We had a great stay at the farm (for the third year in a row) and are continually impressed by the growing infrastructure and amenities. You can tell how much energy the hosts put into the sites, making the stay that much more enjoyable for kids and parents alike. Looking forward to next year!

Getting to the location was a breeze thanks to the clear instructions from the hosts. Upon arrival, Margaret welcomed us with such warmth and friendliness, we immediately felt comfortable and happy to be there. She also provided with an information kit which was so useful. The hosts were really intentional and thoughtful with their site, we really liked that.
Our camp ground and the other shared amenities around were extremely well -maintained. There was plenty for kids to do (playground, games, space to run around) and amazing site for our dogs to be off-leash and play too. Having this kind of privacy and space for ourselves (adults, kits, pets) was a real winner for us.
We will love to visit again and will definitely be recommending Rusty Ranch to our friends!

We loved staying here! It's a gorgeous piece of property. Everything is exceptionally well-maintained. Margaret was very friendly. We loved the Snack Shack! Hawthorne Loop was a perfect spot for our family and it felt very private. We would love to stay here again!

We really loved Rusty Ranch campground!
We stayed at the Hawthorne Loop site. It was a big and clean site. It had a picnic table and a fire pit. The outhouse was clean and not smelly at all. Our 7 year old son loved the swing on the camp site, and the playground nearby. We loved the walking trails with a lot of signs, learning about the area. The creek was behind the site and was great to cool down and splash around.
The Snack Shack was well stocked with firewood, propane, fresh farm eggs, various ice cream bars, and etc.
Margarett and Scott are great hosts. They always check in if we need anything!

We had such an incredible stay! The ranch is so beautiful and Margaret was so friendly welcoming. Our space was perfect for our two kids and Golden Retriever. We especially enjoyed petting Ronnie the horse he was so lovely. My kids loved being able to get snacks (especially ice cream) at the snack shack. We loved being able to get fresh eggs and corn. My kids loved playing on the swing and using the volleyball net. We also enjoyed the hiking trails down by the creek. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will be back!

My dogs and I had a GREAT time at the camp. The site is clean and big, I felt private and safe to let the dogs offleash. The whole farm is really big to walk and enjoy the sunshine in the nice weather. Would definitely come back again and again. Also the location is not far from the big grocery stores and so it would be easy to get something if you forget to pack.

It's our 3rd time coming to Rusty Ranch and we cannot sing its praises high enough. The improvements Margaret and Scott have made since last year make it even more special. Every little thing has been thought of and it just keeps getting better. At the very least, this has become a yearly tradition for our family...when we're lucky, we get more than one visit in a summer.
